Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates to a snuff product that supplies nicotine in a tobacco-free manner that may be enjoyed by a consumer who may normally enjoy tobacco snuff.

2. Description of Related Art

Many individuals through the use of tobacco products have acquired a nicotine habit or addiction. Nicotine is a substance that is contained in many tobacco products both smokable and smokeless products. Some typical smokeless tobacco products include chewing tobacco and snuff, which individuals have consumed for many years in various forms. One advantage of using smokeless tobacco products is the diminished risk of contracting lung or respiratory problems that may be associated with smoking a tobacco product. In particular, smokeless tobacco products reduce the likelihood of lung cancer, which is a known hazard of smoking However smokeless tobacco products have also been linked to various cancers of the gums and gum disease due to repetitive or habitual use.

Substitutes for the consumption of nicotine have been developed over recent years in order to avoid tobacco products. These devices have been in the form of sprays, aerosols, gum and patches that are adhered to an individual's skin. Coffee enhancers and other liquid nicotine soluble substitutes have been also developed. Although various substitutes have been developed it would be advantageous to have a chewing or a snuff-type tobacco-free product that included extracted nicotine so that users may have the opportunity to ingest nicotine without the harmful effects of tobacco.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention includes a snuff product for delivering nicotine during the consumption thereof comprising: nicotine; caffeine; and tea leaves, where the nicotine and caffeine are infused into finely ground tea leaves for consumption as a snuff product. The snuff product may include about 2 to 5 milligrams of nicotine and about 100 to 200 milligrams of caffeine. In one particular embodiment, the tea leaves may include either green tea leaves and/or black tea leaves. The combination of the tea leaves, nicotine and caffeine may be produced as a pulverized dip or placed in small sachets for consumption.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to a smokeless tobacco-free snuff product and method that utilizes a mixture of green or black tea with extracted nicotine and caffeine in a small pouch to be inserted and consumed between a consumer's cheek or gum. The mixture of nicotine, caffeine and tea provides a source of nicotine for consumption with reduced hazards that are normally associated with tobacco product. The present invention combines finely ground green or black tea with nicotine and caffeine in a pulverized dip that may be pinched and placed between the lip and gum of the consumer thus providing a non-toxic source of nicotine.

The nicotine caffeine tea product according to the present invention extracts doses of nicotine in the range of 2 to 5 milligrams with varying doses of caffeine that also range from 100 to 200 milligrams. These extracted doses are combined with finely ground tea leaves such as a green or black tea and placed in small sachets that resembles a tea bag. The combination may then be enjoyed by the consumer between the cheek or gum similar to a tobacco product. Use of the smokeless tobacco-free dip according to the present invention provides dosages of nicotine without the harmful carcinogens that are commonly found in tobacco such as carbon monoxide, tar, ammonia and formaldehyde and therefore provides a reduced health risk during the consumption thereof.

In addition to providing a mixture in the form of a sachet, the product may be finely ground into a pulverized dip that may be pinched out and placed between the gum and the lip for ingestion via saliva in the user's mouth. The present invention may provide a safe alternative to smokeless tobacco. The present invention may also be combined with other tea flavor enhancers such as wintergreen, mint, peach, mango in a herbal tea type of combination to provide a nicotine caffeine source for the consumer.

The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
