Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a fluid reservoir for a paint spray gun.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Conventionally, a fluid reservoir for a spray gun generally includes a container and a cover that are connected by screw threads. The cover is provided with a vent on a top thereof, or the container is provided with a ventilation device. As the connection screw threads of the container and the outer surface of the container have a smooth transition, when the paint is spilled accidentally in the course of feeding or pouring, the spilled paint may directly flow through the connection screw threads and contaminate a large area of the outer surface of the container, which causes difficulty in cleaning the container.

Chinese Utility Model Patent No. CN201006515 entitled “PAINT TANK WITH ORNAMENT RING FOR PAINT SPRAY GUN” discloses a paint tank with an ornament ring for a paint spray gun that includes a paint tank body and a cover that connects with the paint tank body by screw threads. A ventilation device is buckled at the center of the top of the cover. An ornament ring is disposed below the position where the paint tank body and the cover are connected by the screw thread. An annular groove is opened on an upper surface of the ornament ring. This utility model adds an ornament ring structure on an existing paint tank, and thus has the characteristics of having a simple structure and being easy to use, prevents the large-area paint contamination to the paint tank body, and meanwhile provides the convenience for differentiating different paints. Although this utility model solves the problems of large-area paint contamination to the paint tank body, the paint still has a chance of contamination to the screw thread of the paint tank body or the cover, which incurs difficulty in assembling or disassembling of the paint tank body and the cover or even worse the paint tank body and the cover cannot be assembled or disassembled due to the contamination of the paint or a leakage occurs after the assembly.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Hereinafter, the embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings in which the like reference numerals indicate the same elements. The present invention will be explained below through the embodiments described with reference to the accompanying drawings. The embodiments are exemplary and should not be regarded as limitations to the present invention.

Referring to FIG. 1 to FIG. 5, a fluid reservoir for a paint spray gun of the present invention includes a container 1 having an opening and a cover body 2 that sleeves on the opening of the container 1. The cover body 2 is provided with a connecting port 3 that connects with the paint spray gun. The connecting port 3 and the paint spray gun may be connected by a screw thread formed on the connecting port 3. A side of the container 1 has a scale and the container 1 is provided with a ventilation device 4. The scale is provided for the convenience of observing the residue amount of the paint inside the container 1. Hence, the container may be made of a transparent material or a semi-transparent material, such as semi-transparent plastic. The ventilation device 4 may be opened or closed. When the fluid reservoir is not in use or the paint is filled in the fluid reservoir, the ventilation device 4 may be closed. When the paint spray gun is in use and the fluid reservoir is installed on the paint spray gun, the ventilation device is opened in communication with the atmosphere to refill air into the space of the paint that flows out of the paint spray gun. A filter device 5 is installed in the fluid reservoir. The filter device 5 filters the paint filled in the fluid reservoir to prevent the paint spray gun from being clogged by impurities. The cover body 2 is provided with a groove 6 corresponding to the periphery 11 of the opening of the container 1. The periphery 11 of the opening of the container 1 is inserted into the groove 6, which improves the tightness of connection between the cover body 2 and the container 1. To further improve the tightness, a seal ring may be installed in the groove 6 and the periphery 11 of the opening of the container 1 abuts against the seal ring. The cover body 2 and the container 1 are tightly connected by a buckle mechanism 7. The connection of the cover body 2 and the container 1 by the buckle mechanism 7 further improves the connection tightness of the container. This structure in comparison with the screw thread connection structure is easier to be assembled and disassembled.

Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 3, according to the above embodiment of the present invention, the buckle mechanism 7 includes a clamping wing 71 disposed on the cover body 2 and a rib 72 disposed on the container 1 and buckled with the clamping wing 71. The buckle mechanism 7 includes a clamping wing 71 and a rib 72 buckled with the clamping wing 71. This buckle structure improves the attachment strength between the cover body 2 and the container 1, so that the fluid reservoir has a better sealing performance. Also, the screw thread connection of the cover body 2 and the container 1 is not required, which overcome the defects of the inconvenience of detachment and possible leakage. Alternatively, the buckle mechanism 7 includes a clamping wing disposed on the container 1 and a rib disposed on the cover body 2 and buckled with the clamping wing, which can also achieve the function and performance of the above embodiment.

Furthermore, to improve the sealing tightness performance, the clamping wing 71 may be provided with a retainer 73. The retainer 73 is buckled with the rib 72, which enables a firmer connection between the cover body 2 and the container 1.

Referring to FIG. 1, FIG. 2, FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, according to the embodiments of the present invention, the filter device 5 is a filter screen having a buckle portion, and the filter screen is buckled on the cover body 2. The manner of buckling the filter screen on the cover body 2 provides the convenience of cleaning and replacement of the filter screen and is easy to fabricate. Furthermore, the filter screen is provided with a reinforcing rib 51. The reinforcing rib 51 at least includes an annular ring 52 buckled with the cover body. The rim of the buckling annular ring 52 may be designed into a shape corresponding to the buckle portion on the cover body 2, so as to facilitate buckling with the cover body 2. Furthermore, a raised portion 53 may be provided on the filter screen in a direction departing from connecting port 3. For example, the raised portion 53 is disposed at a center of the reinforcing rib, and the filter screen may be detached from the cover body by pulling the raised portion, which provides the convenience of cleaning and replacement of the cover body.

Referring to FIG. 1, according to the embodiments of the present invention, the connecting port 3 is provided with an inserted member 31, and the inserted member 31 is used together with the paint spray gun. As the connecting port is provided with an inserted member 31, and the inserted member 31 is used together with the paint spray gun, different inserted members 31 may be disposed for matching different models of the paint spray gun.

According to the embodiments of the present invention, the container 1 is provided with or formed with a placement portion 9 for placing horizontally. For example, the placement portion 9 may be a planar structure of the bottom of the container 1, a seat structure disposed on the bottom of the container 1 or an extending portion that stretches out from the bottom of the container 1. Therefore, when detaching the container 1 from the paint spray gun, the container 1 may be placed on the top of a table on the floor, which provides the convenience of refilling the paint.

While there has been shown several and alternate embodiments of the present invention, it is to be understood that certain changes can be made as would be known to one skilled in the art without departing from the underlying scope of the present invention as is discussed and set forth above and below including claims. Furthermore, the embodiments described above and claims set forth below are only intended to illustrate the principles of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention to the disclosed elements.
