With Means For Separating Solid Material From The Fluid Patents (Class 137/544)
  • Patent number: 11713879
Abstract: Apparatus and method for capturing and combusting all vented natural gas and control natural gases from pneumatic controllers for oil field equipment are described. After an oil or gas well is drilled and completed, separators or treaters, as an example of oil field equipment, are installed on the surface to separate the liquids (oil/condensate and water) and gases (natural gas/methane). Pressure control valves, liquid control valves, temperature control valves, and the like, are pneumatically operated by the natural gas/methane that the separator is processing for sale, when electricity is not available to provide power for these operations. Presently, the pneumatic controllers discharge the pneumatic gas/methane to the atmosphere.

Abstract: Aspects of a detention pond retrofit device for detention basin outlet control provide structures designed to throttle stormwater flow and maintain the rate at which water is discharged from the system below Qcritical, the flow rate at which erosion and down cutting of the receiving stream would begin, based on channel morphology and bed material resistance. The primary goal of the device is to induce increased flow detention during low to moderate rain events, while providing similar hydraulic performance during large events to that of the detention basin performance prior to the installation of the retrofit unit. This is achieved through a “T” or “Y” design with split flow paths, in which the lower path is hydraulically restricted through the installation of structures while the upper path is unrestricted.

Abstract: A flow path insert for a fluid control assembly includes an upstream portion and a downstream portion integral with the upstream portion. The upstream portion includes an upstream peripheral surface and the downstream portion includes a downstream peripheral surface. The upstream portion and the downstream portion cooperate to define an inlet passage and an outlet passage in fluid communication with the inlet passage. The inlet passage defines a first axis and the outlet passage defines a second axis that is transverse to the first axis. When the flow path insert is positioned within a body of a fluid control assembly, the upstream peripheral surface is in contacting engagement with the body and the downstream peripheral surface is spaced from the body. At least the downstream portion of the flow path insert and the body cooperate to define an annular passage in fluid communication with the outlet passage. Fluid control assemblies are also disclosed.

Abstract: A reciprocating cryogenic pump 2 comprises a piston reciprocable within a pumping chamber 44. The pumping chamber 44 has an inlet suction valve 48 for cryogenic liquid to be pumped and an outlet 32 for high pressure cryogenic liquid. The inlet valve 48 for the cryogenic liquid communicates with a cryogenic liquid reception chamber 46 in the cold end or head 6 of the pump 2. The pump head 6 is at least partially surrounded by a first jacket 8 retaining primary vacuum insulation. The first jacket 8 is itself at least partly surrounded by a second jacket 10. The jacket 10 defines a chamber for the reception of a coolant fluid such as liquid nitrogen and the second jacket has an inlet 20 and an outlet 22 for the liquid nitrogen. The thermal insulation can be further enhanced by a trapped gas space 73 between the first jacket 8 and an inner sleeve 52, the latter defining with an outer sleeve 50 vacuum insulation for the pumping chamber 44.

Abstract: Fluid transfer apparatus including a body having a bore formed through at least a portion of its interior. Contained within the bore is a movable plunger that moves without changing the axial dimensions of the body. A first end of the body contains a face designed to be attached to an upstream component. A second end of the body is connected to a downstream component such as a filter, pipeline, etc. A first end of the plunger, when it is in the closed position, is in alignment with the face of the body, which combined form a steamable surface and a sterile barrier against the environment to the remainder of the interior of the body, the plunger and downstream components. An outer annular collar is rotatable relative to the body and causes the plunger to move axially within the bore from an open to a closed position.
