FIG. 1 illustrates a front view of a multi-purpose shoulder strap 100, according to an embodiment of the present invention.

The multi-purpose shoulder strap 100 includes a base strap 110 and a fastener 120. The base strap 110 has two ends 112 and can be made of woven cloth, leather, chain or other suitable material. The base strap 110 is designed to be attached to a containing device 114 such as a purse 116 and convert the containing device 114 into a carryall (not shown) that is adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of suitable containing devices and user sizes. The base strap 110 is approximately in the range of 3 to 4 feet in length. The fastener 120 is typically a hook-shaped clasp 122 but can be any suitable fastener. The hook-shaped clasp 122 includes a hook portion 124 and a spring-loaded prong portion 126 that is disposed in front of the hook portion 124. The fastener 120 is disposed on each end 112 of the base strap 110 to removably attach the multi-purpose shoulder strap 100 to any suitable containing device 114 typically utilizing one or more hooks or loops integral to the containing device so a user can carry the containing device over their shoulder in contrast to carry the containing device 114 by hand.

The multi-purpose shoulder strap relatively quickly and easily converts a handbag into a carryall. The multi-purpose shoulder strap may be made of woven cloth, leather or chains with a clasp on each end to provide hands-free usage of a bag. Measuring approximately in the range of 3 to 4 feet in length, the strap may be adjusted to the height and size that best suits a user. The multi-purpose shoulder strap may be readily available for purchase at stores where accessories are sold. The multi-purpose shoulder strap features a band with a clasp on each end to fasten to the hooks or loops of a wide range of purses. The multi-purpose shoulder strap is designed to be available in a variety of colors and fabrics as well.
