A cushion device that may be wearable. The wearable cushion may include an upper pad attached to a lower pad. The upper and lower pad may both include cushions for extra padding. The upper and lower pads may further include straps, so that the upper and lower pads may be strapped to an individual and be worn.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 61/668,858, filed Jul. 6, 2013, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to wearable cushion and, more particularly, to an upper cushion and a lower cushion that may be worn.

Currently, when going to sporting events, the seats or benches tend to lack cushioning. Further, when a person is sitting for a very long time, extra cushioning may be desired. To remedy this, some people bring an extra cushion for their seat. However, the extra cushion may move around and become dislodged, prompting the user to constantly fix and reposition the cushion.

As can be seen, there is a need for extra cushioning that stays in place.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a wearable cushion comprises: an upper pad comprising a cushion and having a first side, a second side, a top end, and a bottom end; a torso strap attached to at least one of the first side and the second side of the upper pad, wherein the torso strap comprises an attachment component; and a lower pad comprising a cushion and having a first side, a second side, a top end, and a bottom end, wherein the top end of the lower pad is connected to the bottom end of the upper pad.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides an additional cushion device that may be wearable. The wearable cushion may include an upper pad attached to a lower pad. The upper and lower pad may both include cushions for extra padding. The upper and lower pads may further include straps, so that the upper and lower pads may be strapped to an individual and be worn.

The present invention may add extra comfort to a user that is sitting down for an extended period of time, such as at a sporting event, driving, in wheelchairs, at work, and the like. Further, the present invention may prevent or aid in the healing of pressure related ulcers. The present invention may further relieve back, shoulder, neck and arm pain, and fatigue. Since the present invention may be strapped to the body, the cushioning is in a more comfortable position. Further, having a wide torso strap and padded shoulders may further add comfort.

The present invention may add cushioning from the back of the knee all the way up to the shoulders. The device may be worn against the body as a protective cushion, on the outer clothing, and the present invention may be folded up to form an easy to carry bag shaped or back pack shaped item.

Referring to FIGS. 1 through 5, the present invention may include a wearable cushion 10. The wearable cushion 10 may include an upper pad 12 with a cushioning 26 and a covering 28. The upper pad 12 has a first side a second side, a top end and a bottom end. The present invention may further include a lower pad 14 with a cushioning 30 and a covering 32. The lower pad 12 may include a first side, a second side, a top end and a bottom end. The top end of the lower pad 12 may be connected with the bottom end of the upper pad 12. The cushioning 26, 30 may be a foam cushioning.

The present invention may further include a plurality of straps to strap the wearable cushion 10 to a person. The present invention may include a torso strap 18 attached to at least one of the first side and the second side of the upper pad 12. As illustrated in FIG. 2, a first torso strap 18 may be attached to the first side and a second torso strap 18 may be attached to the second side. The torso strap 18 may include an attachment component, such as a clip, zipper, laces, straps, or a hook and loop fastener. For example, the first torso strap 18 may include a loop portion 18b and the second torso strap 18 may include a hook portion 18a. Therefore, when being worn, a user may strap the wearable cushion to their torso by connecting the torso straps 18.

In certain embodiments, the present invention may include a lap strap 20 attached to at least one of the first side and the second side of the lower pad 14 near the top end of the lower pad 14. As illustrated in FIG. 2, a first lap strap 20 may be attached to the first side and a second lap strap 20 may be attached to the second side. The lap strap 20 may include an attachment component, such as a clip, zipper, laces, straps, or a hook and loop fastener. For example, the first lap strap 20 may include a loop portion 20b and the second lap strap 20 may include a hook portion 20a. Therefore, when being worn, a user may strap the wearable cushion to their lap by connecting the lap straps 20.

In certain embodiments, the present invention may include thigh straps. The thigh straps may include outer thigh straps 22 and inner thigh straps 24. The outer thigh straps 22 may be attached to the first side and the second side of the lower pad 14 near the bottom end of the lower pad 14. The inner thigh straps 24 may be attached to an edge of a slit located at the bottom end of the lower pad 14. The inner thigh straps 24 and the outer thigh straps 22 may both include attachment components, such as clip, zipper, laces, straps, or a hook and loop fastener. As illustrated in FIG. 2, the outer thigh straps 22 may include a hook portion 22a and the inner thigh straps 24 may include the loop portion 22b. Therefore, the outer thigh straps 22 and the inner thigh straps 24 may wrap around the thighs and releasably attach to one another.

In certain embodiments, the present invention may further include shoulder straps 16. The shoulder straps 16 may be attached to the top end of the upper pad 12. The shoulder straps 16 may include an attachment component so that the straps 16 may be releasably attached to the torso straps 18. As illustrated in FIG. 2, the shoulder straps 16 may include a hook portion 16a and the torso straps 18 may include a loop portion 16b. Therefore, the shoulder straps 16 may be releasably attached to the torso straps 18 as illustrated in FIG. 1.

The present invention may further include a netting 19 that attaches the bottom end of the upper pad 12 to the top end of the lower pad 14. In certain embodiments, a handle 36 may be attached to the netting 19. In certain embodiments, the netting 19 may include two layers of netting sewn together with a zipper on one layer, forming a storage pouch. An opening 34 may be below the handle 36 to further facilitate folding between the upper pad 12 and the lower pad 14. In such embodiments, in a folded position, a user may carry the wearable cushion 10 by the handle 36. The present invention may further include a shoulder strap 38 for carrying the wearable cushion 10 over one's shoulder in the folded position. In certain embodiments, a zipper may line the outside edges of the upper pad 12 and the lower pad 14. Therefore, when the upper pad 12 and lower pad 14 are folded to be adjacent to one another, the zipper may be zipped and may secure the upper pad 12 and the lower pad 14 together. This may further facilitate compact transportation.

In alternative embodiments, the present invention may include accessories. For example, the present invention may include a pouch with a flap 40 on the back surface 15 of the lower pad 14. The present invention may further have a pouch flap 42 on the back surface 13 of the upper pad 12. In certain embodiments, the present invention may include a backpack 46 attached to the back surface 15 of the upper pad 12. The backpack 46 may be attached to the back surface 15 of the upper pad 12 and may be accessed by a zipper 48. In certain embodiments, the present invention may include an assortment of pockets 44 located in convenient areas on the wearable cushion 10. For example, the pockets 44 may be located on the outer thigh straps 22 or the torso straps 18. In alterative embodiments, the present invention may further include an outer shell. For example, the upper pad 12 and the lower pad 14 may include a plastic shell protection. Therefore, the wearable cushion 10 may be more durable.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.

Claims

1. A wearable cushion comprising:

an upper pad comprising a cushion and having a first side, a second side, a top end, and a bottom end;
a torso strap attached to at least one of the first side and the second side of the upper pad, wherein the torso strap comprises an attachment component; and
a lower pad comprising a cushion and having a first side, a second side, a top end, and a bottom end, wherein the top end of the lower pad is connected to the bottom end of the upper pad.

2. The wearable cushion of claim 1, further comprising a lap strap attached to the first side and the second side of the lower pad near the top end of the lower pad, wherein the lap strap comprises an attachment component.

The wearable cushion of claim 2, further comprising a shoulder strap attached to the top end of the upper pad, wherein the shoulder strap comprises an attachment component and the torso strap comprises a second attachment component, wherein the shoulder strap attachment component releasably connects with the second attachment component of the torso strap.

The wearable cushion of claim 3, further comprising a first outer thigh strap attached to the first side of the lower pad near the bottom end of the lower pad and a second outer thigh strap attached to the second side of the lower pad near the bottom end of the lower pad, wherein the outer thigh straps comprise attachment components.

The wearable cushion of claim 4, further comprising inner thigh straps attached to an edge of a slit at the bottom end of the lower pad, wherein the inner thigh straps comprise attachment components, wherein the attachment components of the outer thigh straps releasably attach to the attachment components of the inner thigh straps.

6. The wearable cushion of claim 5, wherein the attachment components are at least one of a clip, a zipper, laces, straps, or a hook and loop fastener.

7. The wearable cushion of claim 5, further comprising at least one pocket on the outer thigh straps.

8. The wearable cushion of claim 1, further comprising a netting attaching the bottom end of the upper pad to the top end of the lower pad.

9. The wearable cushion of claim 8, wherein the netting comprises at least two layers sewn together with a zipper sewn to at least one layer to form a pouch.

10. The wearable cushion of claim 8, further comprising a handle attached to the netting.

11. The wearable cushion of claim 8, further comprising a shoulder strap attached to the netting.

12. The wearable cushion of claim 1, further comprising a backpack pouch attached to a back surface of the upper pad.

13. The wearable cushion of claim 1, further comprising at least one pocket on the torso strap.
