INTERCHANGEABLE BEDDING SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USING A BEDDING SYSTEM

Abstract

A bedding system including a cushion bearing a first image portion and a bedspread bearing a second image portion is disclosed. The bedspread includes a first edge and the cushion similarly includes a first edge. When the first edge of the bedspread is positioned adjacent to the first edge of the cushion, the first and second image portions found on the bedspread and the cushion, respectively, combine to form an image. The bedspread and the cushion can both include a removable cover. The removable cover of the bedspread can be mated to the bedspread via features located in attachment zones and the removable cover of the cushion can be mated to the cushion via attachment features located in attachment zones.

BACKGROUND

1. Field of the Invention

This application relates to the field of beds, bed systems, and bedding.

2. Description of the Related Art

Beds have long been used for sleeping. Additionally, as a bed is a piece of furniture, a bed can be used as a decoration in a room, as a tool of expression, as a toy, and for a variety of other purposes. Different bedding can be used in connection with a bed to decorate a bed in a desired manner and/or display any desired material. To pursue this objective, various forms of bedding have been created. This bedding can include, for example, images of scenes, images of characters, images of athletes, logos, or any other desired material.

Nonetheless, existing bedding has various shortcomings and room for improvement, such that there is a need for additional developments in beddings and in methods of using bedding.

SUMMARY

The embodiments disclosed herein each have several aspects no single one of which is solely responsible for the disclosure's desirable attributes. Without limiting the scope of this disclosure, its more prominent features will now be briefly discussed. After considering this discussion, and particularly after reading the section entitled “Detailed Description of Certain Embodiments,” one will understand how the features of the embodiments described herein provide advantages over existing bedding systems and methods.

Generally, embodiments herein relate to new and improved bedding and methods of using the same. While existing bedding can facilitate a bed owner in expressing his/her interests and/or customizing their bed, such bedding has limitations in that it can be difficult to change, it can be expensive, and in that it doesn't provide for an interactive user experience. This can be particularly true in the case of children who have difficulty changing their bedding on their own and whose interests and tastes can change regularly, for example, due to normal child development. Further, typically the different parts of bedding do not complement each other in combination to provide collective expression of an interest or customization that shows more fully and more completely when the whole bedding ensemble is put together. Some embodiments described herein provide bedding that a user can easily change, even children for whom typical bedding is difficult to change. Also, some embodiments relate to bedding and bedding systems that allow the user to change the style of the bedding regularly to satisfy moods, tastes, interests or other expressions. In some aspects this can be done without having to replace the entire, costly bedding set.

Some embodiments relate to a bedding cover system. In some embodiments, the bedding cover system can include, for example, a cushion cover and a bedspread cover. The cushion cover can include, for example, a first portion of an image that is configured to mate with a cushion. The cushion cover includes a plurality of cushion covers, for example, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 cushion covers. The bedspread cover can include, for example, a second portion of the image that is configured to mate with a bedspread. Aligning the cushion cover adjacent to the bedspread cover can, in some embodiments, create an image with the first and second portions of the image. Aligning a plurality of cushion covers adjacent to the bedspread cover can create two or more separate images. In some embodiments, the images are each of human form. Some embodiments of the bedding cover system have a cushion cover with a first portion of an ensemble image and configured to mate with a cushion and a bedspread cover with a second portion of the ensemble image and configured to mate with a bedspread. When the cushion cover is aligned with the bedspread cover, it creates a complete ensemble image with the first and second portions of the ensemble image.

In some embodiments of the bedding cover system, the cushion cover can include a first edge and the bedspread cover can include a first edge. In some embodiments, aligning the first edge of the cushion cover adjacent to the first edge of the bedspread cover can creates an image with the first and second portions of the image.

In some embodiments of the bedding cover system, the image can be sports related, of a character, or include or be of a brand and/or logo. Such characters can include, for example, a superhero, a villain, a cartoon character, a famous athlete, a princess, a character, an animal, or some other desired image. The image can also include, for example, a basketball player, a hockey player, a football player, a baseball player, a mythological being, or an Olympic athlete. The image can also include, for example, a seasonal image, such as a Jack 'O Lantern, a mummy, a witch, a pilgrim, a snowman, a Christmas tree, a Cupid, or a leprechaun.

In some embodiments of the bedding cover system, the cushion cover can mate with the cushion by removably attaching the cushion cover to the cushion. In some embodiments of the bedding cover system, the cushion cover can mate with the cushion by removably attaching the cushion cover to itself. In some embodiments of the bedding cover system, the bedspread cover can mate with the bedspread by removably attaching the bedspread cover to the bedspread. In some embodiments of the bedding cover system, the bedspread cover can mate with the bedspread by removably attaching to itself.

In some embodiments of the bedding cover system, the cushion cover can be a pillow case, or a plurality of pillowcases, and in some embodiments of the bedding cover system, the bedspread cover can be a comforter cover. In some embodiments of the bedding cover system, the image is not printed on the cushion cover or pillowcase, but rather is removably attached to the cushion cover or pillowcase.

In some aspects of the bedding cover system, the second portion of the image on the bedspread cover and a part of a human together form a living image.

Some embodiments relate to an interchangeable bedding system. In some embodiments, the interchangeable bedding system can include, for example, a cushion, a cushion cover, a bedspread, and a bedspread cover. The cushion can include at least one first attachment region with at least one first attachment feature. The cushion cover can include at least one second attachment region with at least one second attachment feature. In some embodiments, the at least one second attachment feature of the at least one second attachment region can be removably attachable with the at least one first attachment feature of the at least one first attachment region. Advantageously, this can allow the removable attachment of the cushion to the cushion cover. The bedspread can include at least one third attachment region with at least one third attachment feature. The bedspread cover can include at least one fourth attachment region with at least one fourth attachment feature. In some embodiments, the at least one fourth attachment feature of the at least one fourth attachment region can be removably attachable with the at least one third attachment feature of the at least one third attachment region. Advantageously, this can allow the removable attachment of the bedspread cover to the bedspread.

In some embodiments of the interchangeable bedding system, the at least one first attachment feature can be removably attachable to the cushion, the at least one second attachment feature can be removably attachable to the cushion cover, the at least one third attachment feature can be removably attachable to the bedspread, and the at least one fourth attachment feature is removably attachable to the bedspread cover.

In some embodiments of the interchangeable bedding system, the cushion cover can be a planar member with at least one corner. In some embodiments of the interchangeable bedding system, the at least one second attachment region can be, for example, located proximate to the at least one corner of the cushion cover.

In some embodiments of the interchangeable bedding system, the bedspread cover can be a planar member with at least one corner. In some embodiments of the interchangeable bedding system, the at least one fourth attachment region can be located proximate to the at least one corner of the bedspread cover.

In some embodiments of the interchangeable bedding system, the cushion cover partially covers the cushion, and in some embodiments, the bedspread cover partially covers the bedspread.

In some embodiments of the interchangeable bedding system, the interchangeable bedding system further includes a first portion of an image on the cushion cover and a second portion of the image on the bedspread cover. In some aspects, aligning the cushion cover adjacent to the bedspread cover can creates a complete image with the first and second portions of the image, which image can be, for example, a princess, an animal, a character, a person, or any other desired image. In some embodiments, the image may be the clothes or costume of a doll, a princess, an animal, a superhero, a villain, a character, a famous athlete, or a cartoon character. The image can also include, for example, a basketball player, a hockey player, a football player, a baseball player, a mythological being, or an Olympic athlete. The image can also include, for example, a seasonal image, such as a Jack 'O Lantern, a mummy, a witch, a pilgrim, a snowman, a Christmas tree, a Cupid, or a leprechaun.

In some embodiments of the interchangeable bedding system, the at least one first attachment feature of the cushion can be removably attachable to the at least one third attachment feature of the bedspread, in order to removably attach the cushion to the bedspread, and in some embodiments, the at least one second attachment feature of the cushion cover can be removably attachable to the at least one fourth attachment feature of the bedspread cover, in order to removably attach the cushion cover to the bedspread cover.

Some embodiments relate to a method of completing an image. In some embodiments, this image can be the image of a princess, a character, an animal, a person, or any other desired image. In some embodiments, the method can include, for example, attaching a cushion cover to a cushion. In some embodiments, the cushion cover can include a first portion of the image. In some embodiments, the method can include, for example, attaching a bedspread cover to a bedspread. In some embodiments, the bedspread cover can include, for example, a second portion of the image. Some embodiments of the method can further include, for example, aligning the cushion cover adjacent to the bedspread cover. In some embodiments, the aligning can create a complete image with the first and second portions of the image.

In some embodiments of the method of completing an image, the method further includes removably attaching the cushion cover to the bedspread cover.

Some embodiments relate to a method of putting a person to bed. In some embodiments, the person can be, for example, a child, and adult, an adolescent, or any other person. The method can include positioning a cushion on a bed which cushion can include a cushion portion and a removably attachable cushion cover having a first edge and a first portion of an image. In some embodiments, the method can further include positioning a bedspread on the bed which bedspread can include a bedspread portion and a removably attachable bedspread cover having a first edge and a second portion of the image. The first edge of the bedspread cover can be positioned adjacent to the first edge of the cushion cover to thereby more fully complete a first ensemble image having the first and second portions of the image. In some embodiments, a person can be positioned in the bed such that the body of the person can be under the bedspread and the head of the person can be positioned on top of the cushion. In some embodiments, for example, positioning the head of the person on top of the cushion conceals a portion of the first portion of the image to more fully complete a second ensemble image that can include the second portion of the image and the person's head.

In some embodiments of the method of putting a child to bed, the second ensemble image can further include some of the first portion of the image.

Some embodiments relate to a bedding system. A bedding system can include, for example, a cushion that can include a cushion portion and a cushion cover, and a bedspread that can include a bedspread portion and a bedspread cover. In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread cover of the bedspread can include a first image portion and the cushion cover of the cushion can include a second image portion. In some embodiments, when a first edge of the cushion or cushion cover is positioned adjacent to or aligned with a first edge of the bedspread or bedspread cover, the first image portion and the second image portion can come together and assemble to create an ensemble image. The image portions may form complete images alone and/or in combination with each other and/or with other objects. For example, a person's head may more fully complete one of the image portions.

In some embodiments, for example, the image can comprise an image of a princess, an athlete, an animated character, a movie and/or TV show character, a fictional scene, an animal, and/or any other desired image and/or brand or logo. The image can also include, for example, a basketball player, a hockey player, a football player, a baseball player, or an Olympic athlete. The image can also include, for example, a seasonal image, such as a Jack 'O Lantern, a mummy, a witch, a pilgrim, a snowman, a Christmas tree, a Cupid, or a leprechaun. In some embodiments, the first image portion can comprise an image of a head. In some embodiments, the second image portion can include an image of a body. In some embodiments, the aligning with or positioning of the first edge of the cushion or cushion cover adjacent to the first edge of the bedspread or bedspread cover aligns the head depicted in the first image portion above the body depicted in the second image portion, thus forming a more complete ensemble or composite image of the body with a head.

Some embodiments relate to a system of interchangeable bedding. In some embodiments, a system of interchangeable bedding can include, for example, a cushion. The cushion can, for example, include a cushion portion and a cushion cover. The bedding system can further include a bedspread. The bedspread can include a bedspread portion and a bedspread cover.

In some embodiments, for example, the cushion cover can comprise a planar member such as, for example, a layer of fabric, a sheet, linen, and/or any other substantially planar and thin member. In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread cover can include a planar member such as, for example, a layer of fabric, a sheet, and/or any other substantially planar and thin member. The covers may lay flat on their respective objects, or the covers may wrap around their respective objects. The covers may also each comprise multiple planar members.

In some embodiments, for example, the cushion cover can be sized to cover substantially all of a top of the cushion. In some embodiments, the cushion cover can be sized to cover only a portion of the top of the cushion. In some embodiments, the cushion cover can comprise a receiving area configured to receive the cushion. For instance, the cushion cover may be a sack, shaped similarly to a pillow case, which is well known in the art. The cushion cover may also be a pillow case.

In some embodiments, the bedspread cover can be configured to substantially cover all of the bedspread portion of the bedspread. In other embodiments, for example, the bedspread cover can be sized to partially cover the bedspread portion of the bedspread.

In some embodiments, for example, the cushion cover and the cushion portion can comprise mating features configured to allow the mating of the cushion cover to the cushion portion of the cushion. In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread portion and the bedspread cover can comprise attachment features configured to allow direct attachment of the bedspread cover to the bedspread portion of the bedspread. In some embodiments, these attachment features can be located at the corners of the cushion cover and/or the bedspread cover. In some embodiments, the attachment features of the cushion cover and/or the bedspread cover can be configured to interact with mating attachment features of the cushion portion of the cushion and/or the bedspread portion of the bedspread. In some embodiments, the mating features may allow the covers to attach to themselves. For instance, the cushion cover or bedspread cover may wrap around the cushion portion or bedspread portion and attach to itself, holding the cushion portion or bedspread portion in its interior. For instance, in some embodiments, the bedspread cover or cushion cover may encapsulate and completely surround the bedspread portion or cushion cover, similar to a comforter cover or pillow case, respectively. In some embodiments, the cushion cover or bedspread cover may have an attachment feature that wraps around the cushion portion or bedspread portion and attaches to itself, for example a strap.

In some embodiments, for example, the mating features can comprise one or more of snaps, buttons, zippers, ties, Velcro, hook-in-loop fixers, and/or any other desired features capable of mating the bedspread cover and/or the cushion cover to the bedspread portion of the bedspread and/or to the cushion portion of the cushion. In some embodiments, the mating features are removably attached to their respective objects. For example, in some embodiments, the mating features on the cushion portion, cushion cover, bedspread portion, or bedspread cover can be removed and cleaned or replaced with new or different mating features.

Some embodiments relate to methods of creating a living image. In some embodiments, for example, a living image can be created using portions of a bedding system and/or portions of a person. The method of making an image with the living portion includes, for example, positioning a first edge of a bedspread having a second image portion adjacent to the first edge of a cushion having a first image portion so as to assemble and create a more complete and new ensemble or composite image. In some embodiments, the method can further include positioning a person under the bedspread such that the head of the person extends from under the bedspread at the first edge of the bedspread and rests on top of the cushion. In some embodiments, the positioning of the head on the cushion, with the head extending from under the first edge of the bedspread, can create and assemble an ensemble or composite image in which the head of the person supplants and/or cooperates with and/or complements the second portion of the ensemble image on the bedspread cover. Thus, in some embodiments, the head position on the cushion may obscure or conceal the first portion of the ensemble image, obscure or conceal parts of the first portion of the ensemble image, and/or may cooperate with or complement components of the second portion of the ensemble image to more fully complete the ensemble or composite image. The head position may also cooperate with components of the first portion of the ensemble image on the cushion cover as well. For instance, the first portion of the ensemble image may include a helmet or hat that is unconcealed or not obscured by the person's head and which cooperates with and/or complements the person's head and second portion of the ensemble image.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A bedding system can include features and components used in connection with a bed. These features and components can be decorative and/or functional. In some embodiments, for example, these features and components can include one or more bedspreads, cushions, bedspread covers, cushion covers, and/or a variety of other features.

In some embodiments, for example, features and/or components of the bedding system can cooperate with and complement each other to assemble and create an ensemble or composite image. In some embodiments, this ensemble image can be, for example, a depiction of a real and/or imaginary person, animal, character, item, or any other real or imaginary being, object, depiction, image, or logo. In some embodiments, for example, the image can comprise a princess, an animal, a super hero, an athlete, a famous person, a scene, and/or a range of other pictures, images, illustrations, or depictions. The image can also include, for example, a basketball player, a hockey player, a football player, a baseball player, a mythological being, or an Olympic athlete. The image can also include, for example, a seasonal image, such as a Jack 'O Lantern, a mummy, a witch, a pilgrim, a snowman, a Christmas tree, a Cupid, or a leprechaun. In some embodiments, for example, the image can be split between, for example, a first image portion and a second image portion. In some embodiments, each of the first and second image portions can include a portion of the image, and the combination of the first and second image portions can create a complete image. In some embodiments, one of the first and second image portions can include the complete image, and the other of the first and second image portion can include a portion of the complete image. In such an embodiment, the one of the first and second image portion containing the partial image can overlay the one of the first and second image portion containing the complete image without destroying the complete image.

In some specific embodiment, for example, the first and second image portions can be split between, for example, a cushion of the bedding system and a bedspread of the bedding system. In some embodiments, the bedspread can comprise a sheet, a duvet, a blanket, a quilt, a sleeping bag, a throw, an afghan, or any other bedding. Thus, for example, the cushion of the bedding system and the bedspread of the bedding system bearing portions of the ensemble image can together create a complete or more complete ensemble or composite image.

In some embodiments, the portion of the ensemble image located on the cushion cover can be configured such that when a person is laying under the bedspread with their head on the cushion, the person's head more fully completes the ensemble image in connection with the ensemble image portion on the bedspread. In some embodiments, the person's head on the cushion alone more fully completes the ensemble image, and in some embodiments the person's head on the cushion cooperates with or complements other features shown on the cushion to more fully complete and assemble the ensemble image in connection with the portion of the ensemble image on the bedspread.

Some embodiments relate to a customizable or interchangeable bedding system. In some embodiments, a customizable bedding system can be configured to allow a user to switch components of the bedding system to change the appearance and/or other characteristic of the bedding system. In some embodiments, the bedding system can include features to facilitate the customization of the bedding system. In one embodiment, for example, the bedding system can comprise a cushion and a cushion cover. In some embodiments, the cushion cover can mate with the cushion. For example, the cushion cover may be removably attached directly to the cushion. In some embodiments, the cushion cover can bear certain visible characteristics. Thus, by changing a cushion cover mated with the cushion, the cushion can be customized with the desired visual appearance. In some embodiments, the image is not printed on the cushion cover or pillowcase, but rather is removeably attached to the cushion cover or pillowcase.

In some embodiments, a customizable bedding system can include a bedspread and a bedspread cover. Similar to the cushion and the cushion cover, the bedspread cover can be removably attached to the bedspread. In further similarity to the cushion cover, the bedspread cover can bear certain visual indicia to thereby allow the customization of the bedding system by removal of the bedspread cover and replacement or interchanging with a new bedspread cover having a different visual appearance.

Some embodiments relate to methods of using a bedding system. In some embodiments, the bedding system is arranged such that a first side of a cushion and a first side of a bedspread are aligned adjacent to each other, to thereby complement and match up the image portions found on the bedspread and on the cushion, in order to assemble and form a complete ensemble image. A person is then positioned under the bedspread with their head located on the cushion such that their head more fully completes the ensemble image assembled and created by the cushion cover and bedspread cover. In some embodiments, the positioning of the head on the cushion can conceal or obscure all or portions of the image portion found on the cushion. In other embodiments, the head on the cushion can cooperate with and further complement the unconcealed or not obscured portions of the ensemble image on the cushion, along with the portion of the ensemble image on the bedspread, to further add to the ensemble image.

FIG. 1 depicts one embodiment of a bedding system 100. The bedding system 100 can be configured for use in decorating a bed and/or to facilitate sleeping in the bed. Thus, for example, the bedding system 100 can include features to help manage and/or maintain the temperature of a person sleeping in the bed, to provide a person comfort while sleeping and/or lying in the bed, and/or to give the bed a desired visual appearance.

The bedding cover system 100 can comprise a variety of features and/or components that can be made from a variety of materials in a variety of shapes and sizes.

The bedding cover system 100 depicted in FIG. 1 comprises a cushion 102. The cushion 102 can be configured to increase the comfort of a person using the bedding system 100 and/or to provide a desired visual appearance to the bedding system 100.

The cushion 102 can be made from a variety of materials and can have a variety of shapes and sizes. In some embodiments, for example, the cushion 102 can be rectangular, circular, triangular, hexagonal, pentagonal, octagonal, and/or have any other desired shape. In some embodiments, the cushion 102 can have a variety of sizes. In some embodiments, for example, the cushion 102 can have a dimension of approximately 48 inches, 36 inches, 24 inches, 18 inches, 12 inches, 6 inches, 1 inch, and/or any intermediate or other dimension.

The cushion 102 depicted in FIG. 1 is a rectangular cushion. As also seen in FIG. 1, the cushion 102 comprises a top 104. As used herein, the top 104 of the cushion 102 is the cushion surface being used to provide a desired visual appearance to the cushion 102.

As also seen in FIG. 1, the cushion 102 can comprise a first edge 106, a second edge 108, a third edge 110, and a fourth edge 112. As used herein, the first edge 106 comprises the edge of the cushion 102 which, when positioned adjacent to the appropriate edge of a bedspread, assembles to create a predetermined complete ensemble image. A complete ensemble image is created from the first and second image portions, and specifically aligning the first and second image portions such that the placement and orientation of the first image portion corresponds with the placement and orientation of the second image portion.

As also seen in FIG. 1, the bedding system 100 can comprise a bedspread 114. The bedspread 114 can be configured to maintain the temperature of a person using the bedding system 100, to increase the comfort of a person using the bedding system 100, and/or to provide a desired visual appearance to the bedding system 100. The bedspread 114 can be made from a variety of materials and can comprise a variety of shapes and sizes. In some embodiments, the bedspread can comprise, for example, a bedspread, a sleeping bag, a comforter cover, a sheet, a duvet, a covered bedspread, a comforter, a quilt, and/or any other desired feature configured to provide increased comfort to a user of a bedding system 100. In some embodiments, the bedspread 114 can comprise natural and/or synthetic materials.

The bedspread 114 can comprise a variety of shapes and sizes. In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread 114 can be rectangular, triangular, circular, ovular, hexagonal, pentagonal, octagonal, and/or have any other desired shape. In some embodiments, the bedspread can comprise a variety of sizes. In some embodiments, the bedspread 114 can be configured for use with, for example, a twin bed, a double bed, a queen size bed, a king size bed, a California king size bed, and/or any other or intermediate bed size. In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread 114 can comprise a dimension of, for example, 240 inches, 120 inches, 90 inches, 72 inches, 48 inches, 36 inches, 24 inches, 18 inches, 12 inches, 6 inches, 3 inches, 1 inch, ½ inch, ¼ inch, 1/10 inch, 1/32 inch and/or any intermediate or other dimension. The bedspread 114 can comprise a variety of shapes and sizes relative to a bed. In some embodiments, the bedspread 114 can be configured to cover all of the bed, and in some embodiments, the bedspread 114 can be configured to cover portions of the bed.

As seen in FIG. 1, in some embodiments, for example, the bedspread 114 can comprise a top 116. As used herein, the top 116 can comprise the dynamic or active surface of the bedspread 114. As also seen in FIG. 1, the bedspread 114 can further comprise a first edge 118, a second edge 120, a third edge 122, and a fourth edge 124. In some embodiments, the first edge 118 of the bedspread 114 can be configured to be placed in proximity to the first edge 106 of the cushion 102 so as to more fully complete an assembled ensemble image out of the respective image portions found on the cushion 102 and the bedspread 114.

As also seen in FIG. 1, the cushion 102 and the bedspread 114 can comprise an ensemble image 126. In some embodiments, and as discussed above, a portion of the ensemble image 126 can be located on the top 104 of the cushion 102 and a portion of the ensemble image 126 can be located on the top 116 of the bedspread 114. In some embodiments, a portion of the ensemble image 126 can be located on other portions of the cushion 102 or portions of the bedspread 114. In one embodiment, for example, a portion of the ensemble image 126 can be located on both the top 116 of the bedspread 114 and the bottom (not shown) of the bedspread 114. In some embodiments, for example, a second image portion 128 of the ensemble image 126 can be located on the top 116 of the bedspread 114. In some embodiments, a portion of the second portion 128 of the ensemble image 126 can be located on the bottom of the bedspread 114 and can be configured such that the bedspread 114 can be folded over to expose a portion of the bottom of the bedspread 114. In such an embodiment, the second portion 128 of the ensemble image 126 can be completed and/or partially completed by the image portion located on the top 116 of the bedspread 114 and the image portion located on the bottom of the bedspread 116.

The ensemble image 126 can comprise any desired image. In some embodiments, for example, the second image portion 128 can comprise a body, a portion of a body, a scene, a portion of a scene, a portion of a vehicle, or any other desired image. In some embodiments, for example, the second image portion 128 can comprise a body of an athlete, a character, a princess, a person, an animal, an imaginary creature, or any other body. The image can also include, for example, a basketball player, a hockey player, a football player, a baseball player, a mythological being, or an Olympic athlete. The image can also include, for example, a seasonal image, such as a Jack 'O Lantern, a mummy, a witch, a pilgrim, a snowman, a Christmas tree, a Cupid, or a leprechaun. In some embodiments, the body shown in the second image portion 128 may not include a portion of the body such as, for example, the head.

The second image portion 128 can be made using a variety of techniques and can comprise a variety of materials. In some embodiments, for example, the second image portion 128 can be printed on the top 116 of the bedspread 114. In some embodiments, the second image portion 128 can be sewn onto the top 116 of the bedspread 114. A person skilled in the art will recognize that a variety of techniques can be used to create a second image portion 128 on the bedspread 114.

In some embodiments, for example, a first image portion 130 is located on the top 104 of the cushion 102. The first image portion 130 can comprise a variety of shapes and sizes and can comprise a variety of images. In some embodiments, the first image portion 130 can, in connection with the second image portion 128, create an ensemble image 126. In some embodiments, the first image portion 130 can comprise a portion of an ensemble image 126 of a character, an animal, a scene, a person, and/or any other portion of an ensemble image 126. In some embodiments in which the second image portion 128 depicts a body and/or portions of a body, the first image portion 130 can depict the remaining portions of the body such as, for example, when the second image portion 128 depicts a body without a head, the first image portion 130 can depict the head. In some embodiments, for example, the first image portion 130 can depict accessories to the body and/or to the second image portion 128.

Similar to the second image portion 128, the first image portion 130 can be created using a variety of techniques and can comprise a variety of shapes, sizes and materials. In further similarity to the second image portion 128, the first image portion 130 can be printed on and/or sewn onto the cushion 102.

The bedding system 100 can be used in connection with a bed system 132. FIG. 2 depicts one embodiment of such a bed system 132. The bed system 132 can include a mattress 134. The mattress 134 can comprise a variety of shapes and sizes. In some embodiments, the mattress 134 can be configured to cushion and support the body of a person sitting and/or laying on the mattress 134. In some embodiments, the mattress 134 can comprise springs, feathers, foam, and/or any other desired cushioning material. In some embodiments, the mattress 134 comprises sheets or other linens.

In some embodiments, the bedding system 100 can be positioned on the mattress 134. In the embodiment depicted in FIG. 2, the cushion 102 and the bedspread 114 are positioned on top of the mattress 134. Specifically, the cushion 102 is positioned on the mattress 134 such that the first edge 106 of the cushion 102 is positioned adjacent to the first edge 118 of the bedspread 114. As seen in FIG. 2, such positioning of the first edge 106 of the cushion 102 and the first edge 118 of the bedspread 114 aligns the second image portion 128 found on the top 116 of the bedspread 114 with the first image portion 130 found on the top 104 of the cushion 102. This alignment of the first and second image portions 130, 128 assembles them to create a more complete ensemble image 126.

As also seen in FIG. 2, not only are the first edges 106, 118 of the cushion 102 and the bedspread 114 aligned, but the first and second image portions 130, 128 are aligned such that the first and second image portions 130, 128 create a continuous ensemble image 126. Thus, the first image portion 130 on the cushion 102 is not laterally offset from the second image portion 128 on the bedspread 114.

Some embodiments relate to methods of using a bedding system 100. In some embodiments, the methods of using a bedding system 100 can also include methods of using a bed system 132. FIG. 3 depicts one embodiment of a method of using a bedding system 100 and of using a bed system 132. As seen in FIG. 3, the bed system comprises the mattress 134 and the bedding system 100. As specifically depicted in FIG. 3, the cushion 102 and the bedspread 114 are positioned on top of the mattress 134. The mattress 134 may also comprise sheets or linens. As also seen in FIG. 3, the cushion 102 and the bedspread 114 are positioned on the mattress 134 such that the first edge 106 of the cushion 102 is aligned with the first edge 118 of the bedspread 114. As also seen in FIG. 3, the first image portion (not shown) is concealed and obscured by a child 136, which includes any person, whose head is lying on the cushion 102. Further, the child 136, and specifically the child's head, serves as the second image portion 130 and thereby completes the ensemble image 126, giving the appearance of the child being a portion of the ensemble image 126.

In some embodiments, the bed system 132 can be used by positioning the cushion 102 on top of the mattress 134 and positioning the bedspread 114 on top of the mattress 134. In some embodiments of a method of using the bed system 132, the first edge 106 of the cushion 102 is positioned adjacent to the first edge 118 of the bedspread 114. In some embodiments, the cushion 102 is positioned on the mattress 134 such that the top 104 of the cushion 102 is exposed. In some embodiments, the bedspread 114 is positioned on the mattress 134 such that the top 116 of the bedspread 114 is exposed. In some embodiments, the cushion 102 and the bedspread 114 are positioned on top of the mattress 134 such that the second image portion 128 on the top 116 of the bedspread 114 is aligned with the first image portion 130 found on the top 104 of the cushion 102.

In some embodiments, a child 136 is positioned on top of the mattress 134 such that the head of the child is on top of the cushion 102 and the body of the child is underneath the bedspread 114. In some embodiments, the child 136 is positioned such that the child's head, which protrudes from the bedspread 114, more fully completes the ensemble image 126 in connection with the second image portion 128 found on the bedspread 114.

Some embodiments relate to interchangeable bedding. In some embodiments, interchangeable bedding can include interchangeable bedding on a cushion 102 and/or interchangeable bedding on a bedspread 114. FIG. 4 depicts one embodiment of a cushion 102 having interchangeable bedding.

As seen in FIG. 4, the cushion 102 comprises a cushion portion 138 and a cushion top 140. The cushion portion 138 can be configured to cushion and/or support an object that is placed on top of the cushion portion 138. Specifically, in some embodiments, the cushion portion 138 can be configured to cushion and support a head and neck of a child 136 lying with his or her head and neck positioned on the cushion 102. In some embodiments, the cushion portion 138 can comprise fabric, foam, thread, feathers, batting, stuffing, and/or any other material suited for providing support and cushioning. In some embodiments, the cushion portion 138 can comprise an external fabric shell and an internal cushioning material such as, for example, batting, feathers, and/or foam. In some embodiments, the cushion portion 138 comprises a pillow and pillow case.

The cushion portion 138 can comprise a variety of shapes and sizes. In some embodiments, for example, the cushion portion 138 can be rectangular, triangular, square, round, and/or have any other desired shape. In some embodiments, the cushion portion 138 can comprise a variety of sizes. In some embodiments, for example, the cushion portion 138 can have a dimension of 1/32 inch, 1/16 inch, ⅛ inch, ¼ inch, ½ inch, 1 inch, 5 inches, 6 inches, 12 inches, 18 inches, 24 inches, 36 inches, 48 inches, 60 inches, and/or any intermediate or other dimension.

In some embodiments, the cushion portion 138 can comprise a cushion top 140. The cushion top 140 can comprise the top surface of the cushion portion 138 and can be configured to interact with other features and/or components of the cushion 102.

As seen in FIG. 4, some embodiments of a cushion 102 configured for interchangeability can include a cushion cover 142. In some embodiments, the cushion cover 142 can be configured to change the visual appearance of the cushion 102. Specifically, in some embodiments, the cushion cover 142 can comprise visual characteristics and can be configured for mating with the cushion portion 138, such as on the cushion top 140, whereby the visual appearance of the cushion 102 is changed.

The cushion cover 142 can comprise a variety of shapes and sizes and can be made of a variety of materials. In some embodiments, for example, the cushion cover 142 can comprise a thin planar member. In some embodiments, this thin planar member can comprise fabric, plastic, natural material, synthetic material, and/or any other thin and flexible material.

In some embodiments, for example, the cushion cover 142 can be sized and shaped to cover all, or substantially all, of the cushion top 140 of the cushion portion 138. In some embodiments, the cushion cover 142 can be sized and shaped to cover only a portion of the cushion top 140 of the cushion portion 138. In some embodiments, the cushion cover 142 can wrap around and cover all or substantially all of the cushion portion 138. FIG. 4 depicts one embodiment in which the cushion cover 142 covers a portion of the cushion top 140 of the cushion portion 138.

In some embodiments, the cushion cover 142 comprises a top 144 and a bottom (not shown). In some embodiments, the top 144 of the cushion cover 142 can include features configured to alter the visual appearance of the cushion 102 when the cushion cover 142 is mated with the cushion portion 138. As further seen in FIG. 4, the cushion cover 142 can comprise a first edge 146, a second edge 148, a third edge 150, and a fourth edge 152. In the embodiments depicted in FIG. 4, the first, second, third and fourth edges 146, 148, 150, and 152, define a rectangular-shaped cushion cover 142. As further seen in FIG. 4, in some embodiments the cushion cover 142 mates with the cushion portion 138 by direct attachment, where the cushion cover 142 comprises attachment zones 154 located proximate to the intersection of each of the first, second, third, and fourth edges, 146, 148, 150, and 152.

In some embodiments, the attachment zones 154 can be located on the cushion cover 142 and/or located on the cushion portion 138. In one embodiment, attachment zones 154 are located on both the cushion cover 142 and on the cushion portion 138, and specifically on the cushion top 140 of the cushion portion 138 and/or on the bottom (not shown) of the cushion cover 142. In some embodiments, the attachment zones 154 can comprise features and/or components configured to selectively and removably attach and/or affix the cushion cover 142 to the cushion top 140 of the cushion portion 138. In some embodiments, these attachment features can include, for example, mechanical fasteners such as hook-and-loop fasteners, one or more buttons, snaps, zippers, ties, magnets, adhesives and/or any other feature capable of attaching and/or affixing the cushion cover 142 to the cushion portion 138 and/or the cushion top 140 of the cushion portion 138. In some embodiments, the attachment zones 154 can be located in any desired position on the cushion cover 142 and/or on the cushion portion 138 and/or the cushion top 140 of the cushion portion 138. In some embodiments, for example, the attachment zones 154 can be located in the corners, at any position between the corners, or any other desired portion of the cushion cover 142 and/or on the cushion portion 138. Similarly, in some embodiments, the number of attachment zones 154 can vary and can include, for example, one attachment zone 154, two attachment zones 154, three attachment zones 154, four attachment zones 154, five attachment zones 154, six attachment zones 154, ten attachment zones 154, twenty attachment zones 154, fifty attachment zones 154, one hundred attachment zones 154, and/or any intermediate or other number of attachment zones.

FIG. 5 depicts one embodiment of a bedspread 114 having interchangeable bedding.

As seen in FIG. 5, the bedspread 114 comprises a bedspread portion 156 and a bedspread top 158. The bedspread portion 156 can be configured to cover, comfort, and/or control the temperature of a person or object that is placed underneath the bedspread portion 156. Specifically, in some embodiments, the bedspread portion 156 can be configured to cover and/or control the temperature of a child 136 lying with their body positioned under the bedspread 114. In some embodiments, the bedspread portion 156 can comprise fabric, foam, thread, feathers, batting, stuffing, and/or any other material suited for providing cover, comfort, and/or temperature control. In some embodiments, the bedspread portion 156 can comprise an external fabric shell and an internal cushioning material such as, for example, batting, feathers, and/or foam. In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread portion 156 can be a comforter, comforter cover, blanket, duvet, bed linen, bedclothes, coverlet, eiderdown, electric blanket, linen, quit, sheet, spread, thermal blanket, afghan, carpet, cloak, coating, covering, envelope, film, fleece, layer, mat, puff, sheath, throw, wrapper, or shawl, or any other bedspread-like object. In some embodiments, the bedspread portion 156 can comprise any of these aforementioned objects inside an outer covering or shell, such as a comforter cover or similar sack-like covering, whether closed or open.

The bedspread portion 156 can comprise a variety of shapes and sizes. In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread portion 156 can be rectangular, triangular, square, round, and/or have any other desired shape. In some embodiments, the bedspread portion 156 can comprise a variety of sizes. In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread portion 156 can have a dimension of 1/32 inch, 1/16 inch, ⅛ inch, ¼ inch, ½ inch, 1 inch, 5 inches, 6 inches, 12 inches, 18 inches, 24 inches, 36 inches, 48 inches, 60 inches, 72 inches, 84 inches, 96 inches, 108 inches, 120 inches, 132 inches, 144 inches, 156 inches, and/or any intermediate or other dimension.

In some embodiments, the bedspread portion 156 can comprise a bedspread top 158. The bedspread top 158 can comprise the top surface of the bedspread portion 156 and can be configured to interact with other features and/or components of the bedspread 114.

As seen in FIG. 5, some embodiments of a bedspread 114 configured for interchangeability can include a bedspread cover 160. In some embodiments, the bedspread cover 160 can be configured to change the visual appearance of the bedspread 114. Specifically, in some embodiments, the bedspread cover 160 can comprise visual characteristics and can be configured for mating with the bedspread 156, such as mating with the bedspread top 158 of the bedspread portion 156, whereby the visual appearance of the bedspread 114 is changed.

The bedspread cover 160 can comprise a variety of shapes and sizes and can be made of a variety of materials. In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread cover 160 can comprise a thin planar member. In some embodiments, this thin planar member can comprise fabric, plastic, natural material, synthetic material, and/or any other thin and flexible material.

In some embodiments, for example, the bedspread cover 160 can be sized and shaped to cover all, or substantially all, of the bedspread top 158 of the bedspread portion 156. In some embodiments, the bedspread cover 160 can be sized and shaped to cover only a portion of the bedspread top 158 of the bedspread portion 156. In some embodiments, the bedspread cover 160 can be sized and shaped to encapsulate and cover the entire bedspread portion 156, such as with a comforter cover or similar sack-like shape, whether open or closed. FIG. 5 depicts one embodiment in which the bedspread cover 160 covers a portion of the bedspread top 158 of the bedspread portion 156.

In some embodiments, the bedspread cover 160 comprises a top 162 and a bottom (not shown). In some embodiments, the top 162 of the bedspread cover 160 can include features configured to alter the visual appearance of the bedspread 114 when the bedspread cover 160 is mated with the bedspread portion 156. As further seen in FIG. 5, the bedspread cover 160 can comprise a first edge 164, a second edge 166, a third edge 168, and a fourth edge 170. In the embodiments depicted in FIG. 5, the first, second, third and fourth edges 164, 166, 168, and 170, define a rectangularly-shaped bedspread cover 160. As further seen in FIG. 5, in some embodiments the bedspread cover 160 mates with the bedspread portion 156 by direct attachment to the top 158 of the bedspread portion 156, where the bedspread cover 160 comprises attachment zones 172 located proximate to the intersection of each of the first, second, third, and fourth edges, 164, 166, 168, and 170.

In some embodiments, the attachment zones 172 can be located on the bedspread cover 160 and/or located on the bedspread portion 156. In one embodiment, attachment zones 172 are located on both the bedspread cover 160 and on the bedspread portion 156, and specifically on the bedspread top 158 of the bedspread portion 156. In some embodiments, the attachment zones 172 can comprise features and/or components configured to selectively and removably attach and/or affix the bedspread cover 160 to the bedspread top 158 of the bedspread portion 156. In some embodiments, these attachment features can include, for example, mechanical fasteners such as, or more hook-and-loop fasteners, buttons, snaps, zippers, ties, magnets, adhesives and/or any other feature capable of attaching and/or affixing the bedspread cover 160 to the bedspread portion 156 and/or to the bedspread top 158 of the bedspread portion 156. In some embodiments, the attachment zones 172 can be located in any desired position on the bedspread cover 160 and/or on the bedspread portion 156 and/or the bedspread top 158 of the bedspread portion 156. In some embodiments, for example, the attachment zones 172 can be located in the corners, at any position between the corners, or any other desired portion of the bedspread cover 160 and/or on the bedspread portion 156. Similarly, in some embodiments, the number of attachment zones 172 can vary and can include, for example, one attachment zone 172, two attachment zones 172, three attachment zones 172, four attachment zones 172, five attachment zones 172, six attachment zones 172, ten attachment zones 172, twenty attachment zones 172, fifty attachment zones 172, one hundred attachment zones 172, and/or any intermediate or other number of attachment zones.

FIGS. 6 through 31 depict specific non-limiting embodiments of images that can be included on a bedding system. In some embodiments, images as depicted in FIGS. 6 through 18 may include all of the features depicted in those figures, and in some embodiments, portions of the images as depicted in FIGS. 6 through 20 may be removed such as, for example, the background. A person of skill in the art will recognize that the present disclosure is not limited to the specific embodiments depicted in these figures.

Claims

1. An interchangeable bedding system comprising:

a cushion comprising a first attachment region comprising at least one first attachment feature;

a cushion cover comprising at least one second attachment region comprising at least one second attachment feature, wherein the at least one second attachment feature is removably attachable with the at least one first attachment feature to removably attach the cushion cover to the cushion;

a bedspread comprising a third attachment region comprising at least one third attachment feature, and

a bedspread cover comprising a fourth attachment region comprising at least one fourth attachment feature, wherein the at least one fourth attachment feature is removably attachable with the at least one third attachment feature to removably attach the bedspread cover to the bedspread.

2. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 1, wherein the cushion cover comprises a planar member having at least one corner.

3. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 1, wherein the at least one second attachment region is located proximate to the at least one corner of the cushion cover.

4. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 1, wherein the bedspread cover comprises a planar member having at least one corner.

5. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 1, wherein the at least one fourth attachment region is located proximate to the at least one corner of the bedspread cover.

6. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 10, wherein the cushion cover partially covers the cushion.

7. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 10, wherein the bedspread cover partially covers the bedspread.

8. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 10, further comprising:

a first portion of an ensemble image on the cushion cover; and

a second portion of the ensemble image on the bedspread cover,

wherein aligning the cushion cover with the bedspread cover creates a complete ensemble image comprising the first and second portions of the image.

9. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 8, wherein the ensemble image comprises a character.

10. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 8, wherein the at least one first attachment feature of the cushion is removably attachable to the at least one third attachment feature of the bedspread to removably attach the cushion to the bedspread.

11. The interchangeable bedding system of claim 8, wherein the at least one second attachment feature of the cushion cover is removably attachable to the at least one fourth attachment feature of the bedspread cover to removably attach the cushion cover to the bedspread cover.

12. A bedding cover system comprising:

a cushion cover comprising a first portion of an ensemble image and configured to mate with a cushion; and

a bedspread cover comprising a second portion of the ensemble image and configured to mate with a bedspread,

wherein aligning the cushion cover with the bedspread cover creates a complete ensemble image comprising the first and second portions of the ensemble image.

13. The bedding cover system of claim 1, wherein the cushion cover comprises a first edge and the bedspread cover comprises a first edge, and wherein aligning the first edge of the cushion cover with the first edge of the bedspread cover creates a complete ensemble image comprising the first and second portions of the ensemble image.

14. The bedding cover system of claim 1, wherein the ensemble image comprises a character.

15. The bedding cover system of claim 1, wherein the cushion cover is configured to mate with the cushion by removably attaching the cushion cover to the cushion.

16. The bedding cover system of claim 1, wherein the bedspread cover is configured to mate with the bedspread by removably attaching the bedspread cover to the bedspread.

17. The bedding cover system of claim 1, wherein the cushion cover is configured to mate with the cushion by removably attaching to itself.

18. The bedding cover system of claim 1, wherein the bedspread cover is configured to mate with the bedspread by removably attaching to itself.

19. The bedding cover system of claim 1, wherein the bedspread cover is a comforter cover.

20. The bedding cover system of claim 1, wherein the second portion of the ensemble image on the bedspread cover and a part of a human together form a living image.
