CARRY BAG WITH ATTACHMENT ACCESSORY

Abstract

A carry bag may comprise a body portion comprising a containment section forming an interior space therein, and a handle section attached to the containment section; and an attachment accessory. The attachment accessory may comprise a first clip member, a second clip member, and a cord member connecting the first clip member to the second clip member. The first clip member may be configured to attach to the body portion and the second clip member is configured to attach to an item. A distance of the cord member between the first and second clip members is longer than or equal to about eighteen inches.

Description

BACKGROUND

The present invention relates to a carry bag with an attachment accessory that may be used to attach an object to the handbag.

Medium to large carry bags, such as handbags, are used to contain a variety of items for the bag owner's use throughout the day. However, to find a small article, such as a key ring, the bag owner often ends up emptying out a substantial amount of the bag's contents in order to find the small article.

SUMMARY

According to one embodiment of the present invention, a carry bag may comprise: a body portion comprising a containment section forming an interior space therein, and a handle section attached to the containment section; and an attachment accessory. The attachment accessory may comprise a first clip member, a second clip member, and a cord member connecting the first clip member to the second clip member. The first clip member may be configured to attach to the body portion and the second clip member is configured to attach to an item. A distance of the cord member between the first and second clip members is longer than or equal to about eighteen inches.

Other aspects of the present invention may include one or more of the following in any combination: (1) the distance of the cord member between the first and second clip members is between about 18 to about 20 inches; (2) the cord member is made from at least one of braided leather cords, braided cloth fibers, a strip of fabric, and a strip of leather; (3) a color of the cord member matches a color of the containment section; (4) the carry bag is one of a purse, a handbag, a tote bag, and a backpack; (5) the second clip member is configured to attach to one of a key ring or a key; (6) the containment section has an attachment section in the interior space of the containment section, and/or (7) the first clip member is configured to be attached to the attachment section.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIGS. 1-2 show a carry bag 100 according to one embodiment of the present invention. The carry bag may comprising a body portion 102 comprising a containment section 104 forming an interior space 106 therein, and a handle section 108 attached to the containment section 104.

Although the embodiment shown in FIG. 1-2 is a handbag, the carry bag 100 may be any suitable conveying device that can be carried around by a single person such as, for example, a purse, a handbag, a tote bag, and a backpack. The carry bag may be made from fabric, leather, canvas, soft leatherette, vinyl, or any other suitable material.

The carry bag may have any suitable dimensions. For example, each of the exterior height, width, and depth dimensions of the containment section of the bag may range, for example, from six inches to twenty inches, or any integer therebetween. Further, the combination of height, width, and depth dimensions may be any suitable combination within these ranges. Further, the invention is not limited to these ranges or particular numbers of the height, width, and depth dimensions.

The handle section 108 of the carry bag may be a strap of the same or different material from that of the containment section 104. The length of the handle section 108 may be any suitable length such as, for example, to provide a shoulder drop length between six inches and 25 inches or any integer therebetween. However, the invention is not limited to this range or these particular numbers for the shoulder drop dimensions.

Optionally, the carry bag 100 may have a closing device 110. In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the closing device is a zipper 110. In other embodiments, the closing device may be buckles, buttons, snaps, clasps, hoop-and-loop (Velcro) fasteners, or any other suitable mechanism for keeping the carry bag in a closed state to prevent the contents of the carry bag from spilling out.

Inside the carry bag 100 is a side pouch 150 formed with the inside lining of the containment section 104. The side pouch 150 may be opened and closed with a fastening mechanism 152, such as, for example, a zipper, a button, a buckle, a clasp, a snap, a hook-and-loop fastener, or any other suitable mechanism. There may be a side pouch 150 on the back side of the carry bag 100 (as seen in FIG. 2), on the opposite front side of the carry bag, on a dividing flap that may be disposed in the interior space 106 of the carry bag for dividing the bag into two separate compartments, or any combination thereof.

Contained within the interior space of the containment section 104, an attachment accessory 200 is provided, as seen in FIG. 2. As shown in FIG. 4, the attachment accessory 200 may comprise a first clip member 202, a second clip member 204, and a cord member 206 connecting the first clip member 202 to the second clip member 204. The first clip member 202 is configured to attach the body portion 102 and the second clip member 204 is configured to attach to an item 300.

The first clip member 202 is configured to be attached to an attachment section. The attachment section may be the fastening mechanism 152 of the side pouch on any of the front side, the rear side, or the dividing flap of the containment section 104. Alternatively, the attachment section may simply be the handle section 108 itself or the fastening device 214 (such as a ring) that attaches the handle section 108 to the containment section 104.

FIGS. 3a-3c show attachment sections according to another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 3a shows a partial cross section of the carry bag 100 which shows a plurality of potential attachment sections 208 in the interior space 106 of the containment section 104. FIG. 3h shows a side cross section of the carry hag of FIG. 3a. FIG. 3c shows a detail view of an attachment section of FIG. 3a. The first clip member 202 is configured to he attached to one of these attachment sections 208. The carry hag may have only one of the attachment sections 208 or a plurality of attachment sections. The attachment sections may, for example, comprise a strap portion 210 connected to a ring 212. The strap portion may be connected to an interior portion of the containment section via stitching, adhesive, a hook-and-loop section or any other suitable fastening mechanism.

FIG. 4 shows that the attachment member 202 according to one embodiment of the present invention. The cord member may be any suitable length, such as for example, the distance of the cord member between the first and second clip members may range between about 18 to about 25 inches, or any integer therebetween. Preferably, the distance of the cord member 206 between the first and second clip members may range between about 18 to about 20 inches. By “about” or “approximately,” it is meant that the value can be around the usual manufacturing tolerances of the numerical value that are used in the art, such as, for example, within five percent of the numerical value.

The cord member 206 may be made from any suitable material, such as, for example, braided leather cords, braided cloth fibers, a strip of fabric, and a strip of leather. The color of the cord member may match and/or complement the color of the containment section and/or handle section to provide an esthetically more desirable appearance. For example, the cord member may be any suitable color or material that will match or complement the color or material of the carry bag.

The second clip member 204 is configured to attach to any suitable item 300 that can be contained in the carry bag. For example, the second clip member 204 may be configured to attach to one of a key ring, a key, or any item with an attachment to which the clip member can attach to, such as, for example, a flash light, an electronic device, or a small canister of pepper spray.

As can be seen in the embodiments of FIGS. 4, 5, and 6, the first and second clip members 202, 204, 202a, 204a, and 202b-202h attached to the cord member 206-206h as follows. Each end of the cord member 206-206h skews or wraps around a loop 216-216h found at the end of the clip member 202, 204, 202a, 204a, and 202b-202h, and held in place by round jump rings 220-220h.

Optionally, each end also may have one round head 218-218h, giving it a fashion and accessorizing finish, without adding weight to the attachment accessory.

The first and second clip members may be of any suitable design or ornamentation such as shown in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6. The clip members 202, 204, 202a, 204a, and 202b-202h, the loops 216-216h, the round jump rings 220-220h, and/or the round bead 218-218h may be made of any suitable material such as, for example, any suitable plastic, steel, stainless steel, sterling silver, gold-plated metal, aluminum alloy, or any other suitable metal.

The use of the attachment accessory will now be explained. After the bag 100 is opened (as seen in FIG. 2), the bag owner does not need to rummage through the contents of the bag to locate a particular item of interest, for example, a key or key ring. If the item is attached to the second clip member of the attachment accessory, the bag owner may go right to the location where the cord member 206 clips to the body portion of the carry bag at the first clip member and locate the cord member 206. Then, the bag owner can pull the cord member out of the bag such that the second clip member 204 is at the exterior of the bag, as seen in FIG. 2. The long length of the cord member 206 permits not only allowing the second clip member (and thus, the item 300 it is attached to) from extending outside the bag, but also allows the second clip member (and thus, the item 300 it is attached to) to hang below the containment section 104 of the bag 100.

This hanging below the containment section 104 of the bag can have several benefits. First, this hanging prevents the item 300 at the second clip member from falling back into the bag without the intention of the bag owner. Second, if the bag owner needs to carry a bulky object or several objects at once, for example, shopping bags or books, the bag owner can arrange for the item 300 (for example, a door key) to dangle from the bag before picking up the object(s) so as to permit easy access to the item 300 while carrying the object(s) such that the bag owner can easily reach the item while carrying the object(s) (for example, to lock or unlock a door).

Another possible benefit of the present invention may include the detachment of the attachment accessory from the carry bag so that the attachment accessory can be clipped temporarily around an accessible area, such as, for example, around the bag owner's arm or around the owner's neck for even easier access to the item 300.

Besides those embodiments depicted in the figures and described in the above description, other embodiments of the present invention are also contemplated. For example, any single feature of one embodiment if the present invention may he used in any other embodiment of the present invention.

Given the disclosure of the present invention, one versed in the art would appreciate that there may be other embodiments and modifications within the scope and spirit of the invention. Accordingly, all modifications attainable by one versed in the art from the present disclosure within the scope and spirit of the present invention are to be included as further embodiments of the present invention. The scope of the present invention is to be defined as set forth in the following claims.

Claims

1. A carry bag, comprising:

a body portion comprising a containment section forming an interior space therein, and a handle section attached to the containment section; and

an attachment accessory,

wherein the attachment accessory comprises a first clip member, a second clip member, and a cord member connecting the first clip member to the second clip member,

wherein the first clip member is configured to attach to the body portion and the second clip member is configured to attach to an item;

wherein a distance of the cord member between the first and second clip members is longer than or equal to about eighteen inches.

2. The carry bag according to claim 1, wherein the distance of the cord member between the first and second clip members is between about 18 to about 20 inches.

3. The carry bag according to claim 1, wherein the cord member is made from at least one of braided leather cords, braided cloth fibers, a strip of fabric, and a strip of leather.

4. The carry bag according to claim 1, wherein a color of the cord member matches a color of the containment section.

5. The carry bag according to claim 1, wherein the carry bag is one of a purse, a handbag, a tote bag, and a backpack.

6. The carry bag according to claim 1, wherein the second clip member is configured to attach to one of a key ring or a key.

7. The carry bag according to claim 1, wherein the containment section has an attachment section in the interior space of the containment section, and wherein the first clip member is configured to be attached to the attachment section.
