CUP LID AND PORTABLE PROTECTION CASE THEREFOR

Provided is a cup lid including: a cover portion that covers an upper opened portion of a cup; a coupling portion that is formed at edges of the cover portion and is coupled to the upper opened portion of the cup; a beverage guide portion that is formed between the cover portion and the coupling portion, is elevated to have a predetermined height, provides a cooling space of a beverage and guides the beverage to a user's mouth; and beverage discharge portions that are formed at the cover portion and the beverage guide portion, discharge the beverage in the cup to be accommodated in the cooling space or cause all of the beverage that remains in the cup to be discharged to a portion that faces the cooling space.

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to a cup lid that is covered in a beverage cup, such as carry-out coffee, and causes a beverage to be safely carried or drunken without being spilled, and a portable protection case for the cup lid, and more particularly, to a cup lid in which part of the beverage is accommodated so that the beverage can be drunken while being cooled little by little and which causes the beverage in the beverage cup to be drunken to the last drop in a configuration in which the cup lid is not separated from the beverage cup so that a taste and a scent of the beverage can be degusted as much as possible, and a portable protection case for the cup lid.

BACKGROUND ART

Cup lids that cover an upper side of a beverage cup are generally used in the beverage cup for coffee that sells in a carry-out specialty store. These cup lids have a configuration in which they prevent a sloshing beverage from overflowing or being spilled from the beverage cup and cause the beverage cup to be safely carried and a beverage to be drunken through a hole of the cup lid.

However, since a cup lid according to the related art has a simple structure in which a small hole which a user puts to his/her mouth or into which the user puts a separate straw so as to drink the beverage, the cup lid according to the related art is not suitable for a user who wants to drink a hot beverage. That is, the user cannot see the beverage due to the cup lid and thus should be careful, because the user cannot know when and how much beverage contacts his/her mouth when drinking the beverage. Thus, most users drink the beverage after removing the cup lid from the beverage cup due to the fear of scald. Thus, the cup lid according to the related art does not fulfill its function properly.

Thus, in order to solve the above problems of the cup lid according to the related art, a variety of improvements in which the beverage can be cooled little by little and drunken as being poured into an auxiliary cup, have been suggested. Several improvements among them will be described below.

First, U.S. Pat. No. 3,806,023 of Barnett discloses a lid for a hot beverage drinking cup, of which a bottom is round like a saucer and in which two spaced holes are formed in front and rear portions of the bottom at regular intervals and a cover portion is formed at an upper side of the rear hole of the two holes. That is, a beverage in the hot beverage drinking cup is discharged into the cover portion and is cooled with a user's breath.

However, according to the cup lid of Barnett, the bottom of the lid is overall round, and the beverage collected on the bottom may be easily spilled and overflow, and there is an inconvenience that the user should drink the beverage by tilting the cup backward and then forward.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,986,437 of Farmer discloses a spill resistant lid having a spout in which a space for accommodating and cooling a beverage is formed by a floor that is flat and is inclined to one side and a wall surrounded by edges and a user can drink the beverage by putting a wall of ends of a portion toward which the floor is inclined, with his/her mouth.

However, the lid of Farmer has stability compared to the lid of Barnett but has a hole immediately in front of the spout and the spout having a gentle slope so that, when the cup is tilted and the beverage is guided onto the floor of the lid, the beverage may be spilled.

The present inventor has suggested in Korean Patent Publication No. 10-2003-0020154 A and Korean Patent Registration No. 10-0446656 B1 that each discloses a cup lid having an improved structure in which a space for cooling a beverage is formed by elevating a wall of part of edges and a hole through which the beverage is discharged into the space of the wall and is collected, is formed in a floor of the cup lid so that, when a cup is tilted, the beverage can be prevented from being spilled more than a need and overflowing.

However, in the cup lid of Korean Patent Publication No. 10-2003-0020154 A, a first hole is formed in a position corresponding to a center of an upper opened portion of a cup that is not close to a wall so that, when the cup is tilted, the amount of a beverage stored in the cup is not sufficient to be discharged into the first hole, the beverage cannot be discharged into a space formed by the wall through the first hole any more.

Also, in the cup lid of Korean Patent Publication No. 10-2003-0020154 A, a second hole is further formed in a position corresponding to edges of the opened portion of the cup that faces the wall and when the beverage is not discharged through a first hole, as described above, the beverage can be taken using the edges of the wall. However, since the height of a body having the second hole formed therein is small, the beverage may overflow.

In the cup lid of Korean Patent Registration No. 10-0446656 B1, even though the amount of a beverage stored in the cup is not sufficient, the beverage can be discharged into the space formed by the wall. However, since the hole through which the beverage is discharged, is formed in the edges where the wall starts being elevated, there is an inconvenience that the cup should be always rotated when a predetermined amount of the beverage is discharged, and if not, the beverage may overflow from a portion that escapes from the edges of the wall.

As described above, it is not easy to drink the beverage, such as hot coffee, and the user should be careful not to scald when drinking the hot beverage. In particular, when the contents of the cup cannot be well seen due to the lid covered in the cup, it cannot be predicted when and how much beverage contacts the user's mouth, and a danger thereof is increased. According to the above-described patent documents in terms of the problem, the beverage is discharged into and stored in a top of the cup lid and thus can be seen by the naked eyes so that there are provided conveniences that the beverage can be easily drunken while being cooled at an appropriate temperature by blowing his/her breath.

However, the above-described cup lids according to the related art have just considered a function of the auxiliary cup that causes the beverage to be cooled little by little and drunken and still have inconveniences of use that the beverage overflows easily. In particular, since the above-described cup lids according to the related art have not considered a position of a hole formed in the lid where the user can drink all of the beverage stored in the cup, the user should open the lid finally so as to drink the beverage stored in the cup to the last drop, which causes inconvenience of use.

Also, the above-described cup lids according to the related art have not structurally considered to sufficiently degust a taste and a scent of coffee and thus are not much concerned by coffee lovers.

In addition, in the above-described cup lids according to the related art, many coffee stains remain in corners of the cup lid when the user drinks hot coffee little by little, which causes an insanitary sense.

Meanwhile, the cup lids according to the related art are provided only as disposable cup lids, which causes a waste of resources and environmental pollution.

TECHNICAL SOLUTION

The present invention provides a cup lid in which part of a beverage is conveniently accommodated in a beverage discharge portion of the cup lid so that the beverage can be drunken while being cooled little by little and which causes the beverage in a beverage cup to be drunken to the last drop in a configuration in which the cup lid is not separated from the beverage cup so that a taste and a scent of the beverage can be degusted as much as possible.

The present invention also provides a portable protection case for a cup lid, which is capable of restraining from use of a disposable cup lid by making a high-quality cup lid and of inducing repetitive use of the cup lid.

According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a cup lid including: a cover portion that covers an upper opened portion of a cup; a coupling portion that is formed at edges of the cover portion and is coupled to the upper opened portion of the cup; a beverage guide portion that is formed between the cover portion and the coupling portion, is elevated to have a predetermined height, provides a cooling space of a beverage and guides the beverage to a user's mouth; and beverage discharge portions that are formed at the cover portion and the beverage guide portion, discharge the beverage in the cup to be accommodated in the cooling space or cause all of the beverage that remains in the cup to be discharged to a portion that faces the cooling space.

The cover portion may include a bottom surface having an area corresponding to the opened portion, and the bottom surface may be configured of an inclination surface of which part is inclined to one side.

The bottom surface may include a steep inclination surface that has a larger degree of inclination than that of the inclination surface and is formed at a portion where the bottom surface is connected to the beverage guide portion.

The beverage guide portion may include an inner wall and an outer wall each having a predetermined thickness.

The beverage guide portion may include: a first beverage guide that is elevated while surrounding the steep inclination portion of the cover portion at a predetermined angle or more; and a second beverage guide that faces the first beverage guide and is elevated to a smaller height than that of the first beverage guide.

The beverage discharge portion may include: a first discharge hole that is formed in the portion where the cover portion and the beverage guide portion are connected to each other and that causes the beverage or air in the cup to be accommodated in or discharged into the cooling space; and a second discharge hole that is formed in a portion of the beverage guide portion that faces the first discharge hole and causes the remaining beverage in the cup to be drunken or causes the air in the cup to be discharged.

The first discharge hole and the second discharge hole may be formed to have circular arc shapes formed of a single hole or when a plurality of small through holes are arranged to correspond to the circular arc shapes.

The beverage discharge portion may include a first guide groove that is formed in edges of the bottom surface and is engraved to have a predetermined width and a predetermined thickness.

The beverage discharge portion may further include a second guide groove that is formed in the inner wall of the beverage guide portion and is engraved to have a predetermined width and a predetermined thickness.

The beverage discharge portion may further include a beverage leakage prevention stopper that seals the second discharge hole of the beverage guide portion.

According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a portable protection case for a cup lid, including a body and a cover that are coupled to or separated from each other in a vertical direction so as to accommodate the cup lid.

The portable protection case for the cup lid may further include a connection ring that integrally connects the body and the cover.

MODE OF THE INVENTION

The present invention will now be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a cup lid according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a side cross-sectional view of the cup lid illustrated in FIG. 1, and FIG. 3 is a side cross-sectional view of a state of use of the cup lid of FIG. 1, and FIG. 4 is a perspective view of another shape of the cup lid of FIG. 1, and FIG. 5 is a plan view of a cup lid according to a first modified example of the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the cup lid according to a second modified example of the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 7 is a plan view of the cup lid illustrated in FIG. 6, and FIG. 8 is a side cross-sectional view of the cup lid of FIG. 6, and FIG. 9 is a perspective view of a cup lid according to a third modified example of the exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

As illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, a cup lid 100 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a cover portion 110, a coupling portion 120, a beverage guide portion 130, and a beverage discharge portion 140.

The cover portion 110 covers an upper opened portion of a cup 10, and the coupling portion 120 is formed at edges of the cover portion 110 and is coupled to an upper opened portion edge 11 of the cup 10 so as to prevent the beverage from leaking, and the beverage guide portion 130 is formed between the cover portion 110 and the coupling portion 120, is elevated to have a predetermined height, provides a cooling space S of the beverage and guides the beverage to a user's mouth so that the beverage can be easily taken, and one or more beverage discharge portions 140 are formed at the cover portion 110 and the beverage guide portion 130 and discharge the beverage in the cup 10 to be accommodated in the cooling space S or cause all of the remaining beverage to be discharged to a portion that faces the cooling space S.

Here, the cup lid 100 that is a disposable product may be formed of general paper, plastic, or silicon that may be used in various applications. Also, the cup lid 100 according to the present invention has an embodiment corresponding to a well-known paper cup for carry-out coffee. However, the embodiment is just for understanding of the present invention but is different from the reality as some elements of the embodiment may be exaggerated or omitted.

The cover portion 110 includes a bottom surface 111 having an area corresponding to the upper opened portion of the cup 10.

Here, the bottom surface 111 is configured of an inclination surface 111a of which part is inclined to one side so that a bowl-shaped cooling space S in which a small amount of a beverage can be accommodated and drunken, can be formed together with the beverage guide portion 130 that surrounds an outer circumferential surface of the bottom surface 111. More preferably, the bottom surface 111 further includes a steep inclination surface 111b that has a larger degree of inclination than that of the inclination surface 111a and is formed at a portion where the bottom surface 111 is connected to the beverage guide portion 130.

Thus, in the cover portion 110, the volume of the cooling space S can be increased by the inclination surface 111a and the steep inclination surface 111b of the bottom surface 111 and simultaneously, the height of the beverage guide portion 130 can be reduced so that the cup lid 100 can be made slim.

The coupling portion 120 includes a coupling port 121 that is attachably/detachably coupled to or separated from the upper opened portion edge 11 of the cup 10 by surrounding an outer portion of the upper opened portion edge 11 of the cup 10 and prevents the beverage from leaking, and a skirt 122 that extends from a lower side of the coupling port 121 and causes the coupling port 121 and the upper opened portion edge 11 of the cup 10 to be easily attached to/detached from each other.

The beverage guide portion 130 is configured of an inner wall 130a and an outer wall 130b each having a predetermined thickness and has an appropriate thickness to taking the beverage when a user puts the cup lid 100 to the user's mouth.

Also, the beverage guide portion 130 includes a first beverage guide 131 that is elevated while surrounding a portion corresponding to the cooling space S, i.e., the steep inclination portion 111b of the cover portion 110 at a predetermined angle or more, and a second beverage guide 132 that faces the first beverage guide 131. Here, the beverage guide portion 130 may have a shape in which the first beverage guide 131 is higher than the second beverage guide 132 and portions therebetween are connected to each other in a multi-stage shape. Here, the heights or connection shape of the first and second beverage guides 131 and 132 may be modified in various ways.

Thus, by using the beverage guide portion 130, when the user drinks the beverage in the cooling space S by tilting the cup 10, inconveniences that the user's nose contacts a top end of the second beverage guide 132, can be solved.

The beverage guide portion 130 of the cup lid 100 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention may be configured so that the first beverage guide 131 and the second beverage guide 132 have the same height, as illustrated in FIG. 4.

The beverage discharge portion 140 includes a first discharge hole 141 that is formed in the portion where the cover portion 110 and the beverage guide portion 130 are connected to each other and that causes the beverage or air in the cup 10 to be accommodated in or discharged into the cooling space S, and a second discharge hole 142 that is formed in a portion of the beverage guide portion 130 that faces the first discharge hole 141 and causes the remaining beverage in the cup 10 to be drunken or causes the air in the cup 10 to be discharged.

Here, the first discharge hole 141 may be formed in a portion where the steep inclination surface 111b of the cover portion 110 and the first beverage guide 131 of the beverage guide portion 130 are connected to each other, to have a predetermined size and may be formed in a circular arc shape along a circular arc of the steep inclination surface 111b. The second discharge hole 142 may be formed in an upper flange of the second beverage guide 132 of the beverage guide portion 130 to have a predetermined size and may be formed in a circular arc shape in which the second discharge hole 142 is configured of a single hole along the upper flange.

In the cup lid 100 according to a first modified example of the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the first discharge hole 141 and the second discharge hole 142, as illustrated in FIG. 5, may be formed when a plurality of small through holes 140a are arranged in a circular arc shape, instead of having a circular arc shape formed of a single hole, so that deformation caused by opening the cup lid 100 can be prevented.

Thus, by using the beverage discharge portion 140, when the beverage is taken through one of a pair of discharge holes 141 and 142, the other discharge hole serves as an air vent so that the beverage can be easily discharged from an inside of the cup 10.

Also, the beverage is discharged and accommodated when it is filled to a small thickness in the cooling space S through the first discharge hole 141 having the circular arc shape, i.e., a small amount of the beverage is collected in the cooling space S so that the user can safely drink the beverage by instantaneously lowering the temperature of a beverage that is relatively hot to drink without changes and a scent (coffee scent) of a large amount of beverage is spread around the user's nose and the user can degust a richer taste and a richer scent of the beverage.

Also, after the beverage of the cooling space S is taken, the remaining beverage that remains in the cooling space S reflows into the cup 10 through the first discharge hole 141 formed in the steep inclination surface 111b so that no stains of the beverage remain in the vicinity of the first discharge hole 141 and the esthetic appealing of the cup lid 100 can be prevented from being lowered and sanitary use of the cup lid 100 can be achieved.

In the cup lid 100 according to a second modified example of the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the beverage discharge portion 140, as illustrated in FIGS. 6 through 8, further includes a first guide groove 143 that is formed in edges of the bottom surface 111 of the cover portion 110, has a predetermined width and a predetermined thickness and is engraved to the steep inclination surface 111b or the first discharge hole 141 along a circumference of the beverage discharge portion 140, and a second guide groove 144 that is engraved in the inner wall 130a of the beverage guide portion 130 having the second discharge hole 142 formed therein, has a predetermined width and a predetermined thickness and extends from the first guide groove 143.

Thus, when the amount of the beverage that remains in the cup 10 through the first guide groove 143 and the second guide groove 144 is small and the user cannot take the beverage through the first discharge hole 141, the beverage discharge portion 140 causes the beverage that remains in the bottom surface 111 or the cooling space S to be guided to the first discharge hole 141 or the second discharge hole 142 along the first and second guide grooves 143 and 144 so that the beverage that remains in the cover portion 110 can be prevented from being spilled and being stained around the user's mouth or flowing into the user's clothes.

In the cup lid 100 according to a third modified example of the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the beverage discharge portion 140, as illustrated in FIG. 9, further includes a beverage leakage prevention stopper 145 that seals the second discharge hole 142 of the beverage guide portion 130.

Here, the beverage leakage prevention stopper 145 includes an extension line 145a that extends from one side of the second discharge hole 142 or the coupling port 121 of the coupling portion 120 to have a band shape or wrinkles, a stopper 145b that has a cross-section corresponding to the shape of the second discharge hole 142 and is formed at an end of the extension line 145, a handle 145c that is formed at an upper side of the stopper 145b and causes the second discharge hole 142 to be opened/closed, and an accommodation groove 145d that has a shape corresponding to the handle 145c so that the handle 145c can be kept and accommodated in the accommodation groove 145d when the second discharge hole 142 is opened and that is formed in one side of the second discharge hole 142 or in the coupling port 121.

Thus, the beverage leakage prevention stopper 145 seals the second discharge hole 142 and can prevent the beverage from overflowing or being contaminated through the second discharge hole 142 when the user moves to another place by carrying the cup 10.

Hereinafter, an operation of the cup lid 100 according to the exemplary embodiment and the modified examples of the exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described.

First, after the first discharge hole 141 of the cup lid 100 is placed toward the user's mouth and then the cup 10 is tilted, part of the beverage contained in the cup 10 is discharged into and accommodated in the cooling space S of the cover portion 110 through the first discharge hole 141 and is exposed to the atmosphere.

Thus, part of the beverage accommodated in the cooling space S can be cooled by being blown by the user's mouth and can be drunken by the user when the beverage is hot, and part of the beverage in the cooling space S can be seen by the naked eyes and simultaneously, the user can smell the scent of the beverage close to the cup 10 through his/her nose by avoiding a heat of the beverage discharged to the outside through the second discharge hole 142.

Thus, a sense of taste and a sense of touch, and a visual effect are improved so that the taste and the scent of the beverage can be improved as much as possible and a degustation effect can be maximized.

In the above state, when the cup 10 is normally tilted after the user takes the beverage, the beverage that remains in the cooling space S reflows into the cup 10 along the first discharge hole 141. Thus, no stains of the beverage remain in the vicinity of the first discharge hole 141 so that the esthetic appealing of the cup lid 100 can be prevented from being lowered and sanitary use of the cup lid 100 can be achieved.

By using the above method, when the beverage in the cup 10 is taken to some degrees and cannot be taken through the first discharge hole 141, if the second discharge hole 142 of the cup lid 100 is placed toward the user's mouth and then the cup 10 is tilted, the beverage that remains in the cup 10 is discharged through the second discharge hole 142 and thus can be taken by the user.

Thus, in the cup lid 100 described above, the first discharge hole 141 is formed in edges of the cooling space S of the cover portion 120 and the beverage guide portion 130 that are not a center of the opened portion of the cup 10, so that the beverage can be easily discharged and taken without tilting and rotating the cup 10, like in the related art.

Also, the second discharge hole 142 is formed in the flange of the beverage guide portion 130 corresponding to the edges of the upper opened portion of the cup 10 so that the beverage that remains in the cup 10 is not discharged to the cover portion 110, like in the related art, but is discharged into the user's mouth and the beverage can be easily discharged and taken.

FIGS. 10 and 11 are a perspective view and a side cross-sectional view of a portable protection case for a cup lid according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

As illustrated in FIGS. 10 and 11, a portable protection case 200 for a cup lid 100 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a body 210 and a cover 220 that are separated from and coupled to each other in a vertical direction so as to accommodate the cup lid 100 according to the exemplary embodiment and its modified example of the present invention. Preferably, the portable protection case 200 for the cup lid 100 may further include a connection ring 230 that is formed at the body 210 and the cover 220, integrally connects the body 210 and the cover 220 and is coupled to a separate key ring (not shown) or an accessory.

Thus, in the portable protection case 200 for the cup lid 100 described above, the cup lid 100 can be washed and then repeatedly used by being carried in a sanitary state so that the amount of waste materials caused by the use of a disposable product can be reduced and environment can be protected.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY

As described above, according to the one or more of the above-described embodiments of the present invention, a cup lid, whereby a first discharge hole is formed in edges of a cooling space of a cover portion and a beverage guide portion that are not a center of an opened portion of the cup, so that a beverage can be easily discharged and taken without tilting and rotating the cup, like in the related art, can be provided.

In addition, a cup lid, whereby a second discharge hole is formed in a flange of a beverage guide portion corresponding to edges of an upper opened portion of the cup so that the beverage that remains in the cup is not discharged to the cover portion, like in the related art, but is discharged into a user's mouth and the beverage can be easily discharged and taken, can be provided

Furthermore, a portable protection case for the cup lid, whereby the above-described cup lid can be washed and then repeatedly used by being carried in a sanitary state so that the amount of waste materials caused by the use of a disposable product can be reduced and environment can be protected, can be provided.

While the present invention has been particularly shown and described with reference to exemplary embodiments thereof, it will be understood by those of ordinary skill in the art that various changes in form and details may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the following claims.

Claims

1. A cup lid comprising:

a cover portion that covers an upper opened portion of a cup;
a coupling portion that is formed at edges of the cover portion and is coupled to the upper opened portion of the cup;
a beverage guide portion that is formed between the cover portion and the coupling portion, is elevated to have a predetermined height, provides a cooling space S of a beverage and guides the beverage to a user's mouth; and
beverage discharge portions that are formed at the cover portion and the beverage guide portion, discharge the beverage in the cup to be accommodated in the cooling space S or cause all of the beverage that remains in the cup to be discharged to a portion that faces the cooling space S.

2. The cup lid of claim 1, wherein the cover portion comprises a bottom surface having an area corresponding to the opened portion, and the bottom surface is configured of an inclination surface of which part is inclined to one side.

3. The cup lid of claim 2, wherein the bottom surface further comprises a steep inclination surface that has a larger degree of inclination than that of the inclination surface and is formed at a portion where the bottom surface is connected to the beverage guide portion.

4. The cup lid of claim 1, wherein the beverage guide portion comprises an inner wall and an outer wall each having a predetermined thickness.

5. The cup lid of claim 3, wherein the beverage guide portion comprises:

a first beverage guide that is elevated while surrounding the steep inclination portion of the cover portion at a predetermined angle or more; and
a second beverage guide that faces the first beverage guide and is elevated to a smaller height than that of the first beverage guide.

6. The cup lid of claim 5, wherein the beverage discharge portion comprises:

a first discharge hole that is formed in the portion where the cover portion and the beverage guide portion are connected to each other and that causes the beverage or air in the cup to be accommodated in or discharged into the cooling space S; and
a second discharge hole that is formed in a portion of the beverage guide portion that faces the first discharge hole and causes the remaining beverage in the cup to be drunken or causes the air in the cup to be discharged.

7. The cup lid of claim 6, wherein the first discharge hole and the second discharge hole are formed to have circular arc shapes formed of a single hole or when a plurality of small through holes are arranged to correspond to the circular arc shapes.

8. The cup lid of claim 2, wherein the beverage discharge portion comprises a first guide groove that is formed in edges of the bottom surface and is engraved to have a predetermined width and a predetermined thickness.

9. The cup lid of claim 4, wherein the beverage discharge portion further comprises a second guide groove that is formed in the inner wall of the beverage guide portion and is engraved to have a predetermined width and a predetermined thickness.

10. The cup lid of claim 6, wherein the beverage discharge portion further comprises a beverage leakage prevention stopper that seals the second discharge hole of the beverage guide portion.

11. A portable protection case for a cup lid, comprising a body and a cover that are coupled to or separated from each other in a vertical direction so as to accommodate the cup lid of claim 1.

12. The portable protection case of claim 11, further comprising a connection ring that integrally connects the body and the cover
