With Means To Prevent Escape Of Contents Through Vent Patents (Class 220/373)
  • Patent number: 11142384
Abstract: A one-way valve to control the release of pressurized gas from within a sealed container through a venting aperture. The valve comprises a layer of flexible material having an upper and a lower surface with a portion of the upper surface adhered to a surface of the container and overlaying the venting aperture. A channel is defined by a portion of the container and an adjacent portion of the flexible material which has not been adhered to the container. The channel is in communication with the venting aperture and an exhaust gas aperture in the layer of flexible material. The channel is operable between a closed and an open configuration upon gas pressure within the container exceeding a predetermined limit. When open the channel permits gas to flow from said container into the exterior atmosphere. When closed the channel restricts the flow of gas between the venting aperture and exhaust gas aperture.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a cooking utensil comprises a pot with a lid that divides a cooking chamber in the pot from a condensing chamber above the lid. To prevent boil-over, one or more openings in the lid and/or openings radially between the lid and the pot convey bidirectional flow between the cooking and condensing chambers. Boiling liquid/vapor foam from the cooking chamber flows upward through the opening to the condensing chamber. Upon subsequently flowing across an upper surface of the lid, the liquid/foam condenses and then returns through the opening to the cooking chamber. In some examples, the cookware includes both a mechanical seal and a liquid seal between the lid and the pot. In some embodiments, a single opening in the lid maximizes the lid's condensing surface while still allowing sufficient flow between the cooking and condensing chambers. Such a single opening also makes the cookware easy to clean.

According to the invention, said lid (12) comprises two cylindrical diaphragms (12b, 12c), concentric to the cap axis and which, in cooperation with the cup (1), form labyrinth means for the flow of vapors and air. Cup (1) also carries a guide (7) supporting a level rod (8), consisting of a central, cylindrical main body (7b), wherefrom ribs (7a) for anchoring to the cup (1) depart. Guide (7) extends, at the top, into two flexible flaps (7c), provided with means of engagement (10) of the rod (8).

  • Patent number: 7909192
Abstract: The invention is a vent for use with a container, such as commercial steel pails and drums, and a method for venting containers. The vent has a cap seal with one or more semipermeable membranes covering an orifice in the cap seal. The membrane prevents the passage of at least one atmospheric component, but allows the free passage of air. When a product is filled into the container at an elevated temperature and cools, a vacuum is formed within the container. The resulting vacuum opens a vacuum release device in the vent and pulls air through a hole in the cap seal, which is protected by a micro-porous membrane. The venting of air into the container relieves the vacuum without damage to the container or the product within the container.

The vent area vents the inner volume such that air is selectively permitted to flow into the inner volume through the vent area and the fluid contained in the inner volume is substantially prevented from flowing out of the inner volume through the vent area. The elastomeric membrane is co-molded with the hollow body.

Abstract: A vented closure for a liquid container which will not freely pour includes a cap movable between open and closed positions relative to a base collar. The movable cap can be slidable to form a push-pull type closure, or can be rotatable to form a flip-type closure. In an open position, a primary fluid passageway extends through the closure to one or more dispensing opening. One or more air vents of small size are located in the base collar at positions spaced within predetermined ranges of offsets from the dispensing openings. A divider or barrier is located to create a secondary fluid passageway to convey liquid directly into contact with the air vents which can self-seal by surface tension of the liquid and to convey air bubbles through the liquid when the container is tilted. Overlapping portions of the movable cap can protect the vent apertures and/or the dispensing aperture structure.
