A laundry basket including: a frame structured wall; a top lid; at least one notch on a first side of the top lid; a hinge on a second side of the top lid, where the hinge provide a means to open and close the top lid on the basket; and a handle extending from one side of the basket. The handle may be a retractable telescoping handle, where the handle extends from the basket on a side adjacent to the first side of the top lid. The at least notch one may include two notches, where the two notches lie between the breadth of the handle. The laundry basket may further include four wheels under the basket for movement.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates to a laundry basket designed for mobility and ease in handling.

2. Description of Related Art

The laundry basket is used throughout many residences and in commercial settings. The task of washing and drying clothes typically involves loading and unloading of washers and dryers with batches of clothing. The clothing is typically transported to the washer or dryer through the use of a laundry basket. Many laundry baskets require manual lifting which could be strenuous on the individual user's back. Other options include the pushing and pulling of the laundry basket that includes wheels, however some of these baskets are not conducive or sturdy for regular use. Consequently, the need for an innovative laundry basket exists and therefore would be a welcomed product on the current market.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a laundry basket comprising: a frame structured wall; a top lid; at least one notch on a first side of the top lid; a hinge on a second side of the top lid, where the hinge provide a means to open and close the top lid on the basket; and a handle extending from one side of the basket. The handle may be a retractable telescoping handle, where the handle extends from the basket on a side adjacent to the first side of the top lid. The at least notch one may include two notches, where the two notches lie between the breadth of the handle. The laundry basket may further include four wheels under the basket for movement. The frame structured wall may be made of plastic in one particular embodiment.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

A laundry basket of the present invention includes a sturdy frame basket that supplies a means for the user to push or pull the basket in various directions. The basket includes a telescoping or retractable handle, a hinged top and swivel wheels at the bottom of each corner allowing users to maneuver the basket in various directions. In one particular embodiment, the basket measures 27″ long by 15″ wide and 15″ in depth. The top is hinged to allow for the closure and opening of the top as desired. Further the top keeps the clothes from spilling out while the basket may be tilted during moving.

As depicted in FIG. 1 a laundry basket (100) in accordance with the present invention is depicted. FIG. 1 provides a perspective view of laundry basket (100) where a top lid (20) is depicted over the top surface of the laundry basket (100). The laundry basket (100) includes a frame structured wall (30) that surrounds the basket and provides the supporting structure for the basket. A base is provided within the basket (100) that is the support base for any clothing placed within the basket. The movement of the basket is provided through the use of wheels (27(a), 27(b), 27(c), 27(d)). The top lid (20) lifts upwardly and is attached to the basket by the hinge (25). The hinge (25) provides the means to rotate and lift the lid (20) for the removal or insertion of clothing into the basket (100). The top lid (20) also includes notches (23(a), 23(b)) on one side of the top lid (20). Extending from the basket on one side is a handle (40). The handle (40) may extend and retract as desired for use in moving the basket (100). The notches 23(a), 23(b) are shown between the breadth of the handle (40). As shown the hinge (25) is on a first side of the top lid (20) and the notches 23(a), 23(b) are on an opposite or second side of the top lid (20). The configuration and design of the laundry basket (100) in accordance with the present invention provides an innovative and effective means to store clothing and move the basket as needed.

The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variation are possible in light of the above teaching. The exemplary embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.

Claims

1. A laundry basket comprising:

a. a frame structured wall;
b. a top lid;
c. at least one notch on a first side of the top lid;
d. a hinge on a second side of the top lid, where the hinge provide a means to open and close the top lid on the basket; and
e. a handle extending from one side of the basket.

2. The laundry basket according to claim 1, where the handle is a retractable telescoping handle.

3. The laundry basket according to claim 1, where the handle extends from the basket on a side adjacent to the first side of the top lid.

4. The laundry basket according to claim 1, where the at least one notch includes two notches.

5. The laundry basket according to claim 4, where the two notches lie between the breadth of the handle.

6. The laundry basket according to claim 1, further includes four wheels under the basket for movement.

7. The laundry basket according to claim 1, where the frame structured wall is made of plastic.
