DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS

FIG. 1A illustrates a front view of a lace undergarment 10 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 1B illustrates a rear view of the undergarment 10. The undergarment 10 preferably includes a waistband 11 and a crotch element 14 connected thereto. The waistband 11 is of a general loop shape and is configured for being worn around the waist of a user. The crotch element 14 is connected to a rear of the waistband 11 on one end thereof and a front of the waistband on an opposite end thereof, such that it covers the crotch of a user wearing the undergarment 10. The waistband 11 preferably includes two waistband components 12, connected together. Each waistband component 12 includes a first end 12a having a first width, a middle portion 12b having a second width, less than the first width and a second end 12c, opposite the first end and having a third width, larger that first width and second width. FIG. 2 illustrates a more detailed view of an exemplary waistband component 12. FIG. 2 further indicates a preferred length of the waistband component 12 and preferred values for the first width, second width and third width. These values are suitable for providing an undergarment 10 in an extra-small size and are exemplary only. These values may vary by plus or minus 5% or so.

FIG. 3 illustrates another embodiment of a waistband component 12 suitable for used in a small size undergarment 10. The waistband component 12 of FIG. 3 includes exemplary values for the length of the component 12 and the first, second and third widths which may vary by plus or minus 5%.

FIG. 4 illustrates another embodiment of a waistband component 12 suitable for used in a medium size undergarment 10. The waistband component 12 of FIG. 3 includes exemplary values for the length of the component 12 and the first, second and third widths which may vary by plus or minus 5%.

FIG. 5 illustrates another embodiment of a waistband component 12 suitable for used in a large size undergarment 10. The waistband component 12 of FIG. 3 includes exemplary values for the length of the component 12 and the first, second and third widths which may vary by plus or minus 5%.

As can be seen in FIG. 1A, the first ends 12a of each of the two waistband elements 12, are joined together to substantially form a front of the undergarment 10. The two second ends 12c are joined together to substantially form the rear of the undergarment 10. The respective middle waistband components 12b form the left and right sides of the undergarment 10. In a preferred embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1C, a first seam 100 joins the first ends 12a of the waistband components and is sewn first. A second seam 102 joins the second ends 12b of the two waistband components 12 and is sewn second. A front crotch seam 104 joins the crotch element 14 to the front of the waistband 11 and is sewn third. A rear crotch seam 106 joins the crotch element 14 to the rear of the waistband 11 and is sewn fourth. Left and right side seams 108, 110 are used to finish the crotch section 14 and are sewn fifth and sixth. Thus, the undergarment 10 is sewn in six steps.

The use of the two waistband elements 12 and joining them together allows for these elements to be cut from a continuous band of material with a repeating pattern. This simplifies productions and sewing.

The resulting undergarment 10, provides for a comfortable fit while at the same time being easy to construct and simple to sew. The waistband 11 is made of a lace material, however, is not limited to any particular lace pattern. The waistband 11 may have a scalloped edge as illustrated, but is not limited to this particular embodiment.

Although the present invention has been described in relation to particular embodiments thereof, many other variations and modifications and other uses will become apparent to those skilled in the art.
