Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates to a shower cap that is used to absorb moisture that may accumulate in the shower cap during use.

2. Description of Related Art

Many individuals who shower use shower caps in order to retain dry hair or a particular hairstyle while taking a shower. Shower caps are essential to many women when taking showers and are attempting to retain the hairstyle that they normally wear. Shower caps come in various sizes and varieties. The typical shower cap includes an elastic band that surrounds the opening and a plastic or waterproof material that comprises the body of the cap. The elastic band helps to retain a tight fit of the cap over the user's head and the shower cap may include a single layer of plastic or more sophisticated shower caps have at least two layers of plastic. The shower cap as a consequence provides an effective means to maintain a dry scalp and hair while taking a shower.

One drawback to the use of a shower cap is the accumulation of moisture within the shower cap due to the heat and steam that is usually associated with a shower. Most individuals take hot showers in an enclosed area so the shower produces steam and moisture that accumulates both on the outside of the shower cap and within the shower cap due to the enclosed nature of the shower cap. Therefore although an individual may be using a shower cap there may be accumulation of moisture within the shower cap during use. It would consequently be advantageous to have a shower cap that is capable of absorbing moisture within the shower cap during use and therefore maintaining an even drier environment for the user.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a shower cap for moisture absorption comprising: a outer layer; a inner layer, where the inner layer includes an absorbent material that is removable and capable of absorbing moisture; and an opening, where a user places the cap on the user's head through the opening. The absorbent material may be attached to the inner layer through the use of a hook and loop fastener or a mesh pocket.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to a shower cap that includes a removable inner layer in the form of an absorbent material that absorbs moisture within the shower cap during use. This moisture absorbent material therefore alleviates the accumulation of moisture within the shower cap and creates a more effective shower cap for the user.

In reference to FIG. 1, a perspective view of a Shower Cap 100 is depicted. The Shower Cap 100 includes an Opening 32 surrounded by an elastic band. The Shower Cap 100 includes an Outer Layer 35 as shown in FIG. 1. Further within the inner portion of the Shower Cap 100 is an Absorbent Material 30 that is removable. A more clear view of this Absorbent Material 30 is depicted in FIG. 2 and shows the inner layer of the Shower Cap 100. The absorbent material is removably inserted into the inner layer of the shower cap. A means to support this Absorbent Material 30 on the inner layer of the Shower Cap 100 is provided within the Shower Cap 100. An example of a connecting means include hook and loop fastenings connecting the inner layer to the inner surface of the Shower Cap 100. Further a mesh pocket may be provided for the insertion of the Inner Layer 30. This absorbing material absorbs moisture within the shower cap during use.

Examples of the material used to create the Absorbing Layer 30 includes cotton, absorbent granular gel material, desiccant materials including silica gel, calcium oxide, calcium sulfate, nylon, wicking porous plastic and polyether sulfites. These particular materials may be used individually or in combination in order to create the absorbing material within the shower cap. The removable feature of the layer allows the user to replace the absorbing material if it should lose its effectiveness over a period of time and also to do any cleaning of debris that may accumulate within the absorbing material over a period of time. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.

Claims

1. A shower cap for moisture absorption comprising:

a. an outer layer;
b. an inner layer, where the inner layer includes an absorbent material that is removable and capable of absorbing moisture; and
c. an opening, where a user places the cap on the user's head through the opening.

2. The shower cap according to claim 1, where the absorbent material is attached to the inner layer through the use of a hook and loop fastener.

3. The shower cap according to claim 1, where the absorbent material is attached to the inner layer through the use of a mesh pocket.

4. The shower cap according to claim 1, where the absorbent material is selected from the group consisting of cotton, absorbent granular gel material, desiccant materials including silica gel, calcium oxide, calcium sulfate, nylon, wicking porous plastic and polyether sulfites.
