Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a knife sharpening device, and more particularly to a knife sharpening device for a circular knife.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A conventional circular knife is applied to cut an object linearly by matching with a ruler or a board-foot, and a circular blade of the conventional circular knife is dull after a period of using time, so it is sharpened by a belt grinding machine. But, the circular blade is rotated repeatedly during a sharpening process to cause uneven sharpening effect. A conventional knife sharpening device for a circular knife is disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 8,267,752 and contains a body, an inserting block inserted into a first side of the body, and a supporting block mounted on a second side thereof and inserted into the inserting block, wherein the supporting block is arranged to position a circular blade, and a circular sharpening piece is formed on a peripheral side of the body to sharpen the circular blade easily.

Nevertheless, after the circular sharpening piece sharpens the circular piece for a long period of time, it damages easily.

The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

With reference to FIGS. 1-5, a knife sharping device 100 for a circular knife according to a first embodiment comprises: a circular body 10, a circular connecting cover 20, and a first circular fixing cover 30.

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the circular body 10 includes an annular portion 11 and an external wheel 12 arranged around an outer rim of the annular portion 11, wherein the annular portion 11 has a through hole 111 defined at a central portion thereof and a first conical face 112 formed on a first side thereof, and the first conical face 112 has a thickness gradually increasing to the outer rim of the annular portion 11 from the central portion of the annular portion 11, the first conical face 112 also has a plurality of first sharpening tabs 113 equidistantly arranged thereon adjacent to the external wheel 12 and made of ceramic material.

As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the circular connecting cover 20 includes a first side lid 21 and an inserting post 22 extending outwardly from a central position of the first side lid 21, wherein a cross section of the inserting post 22 is non-circular, the first side lid 21 has a first griping bar 211 formed on an outer side thereof.

The first circular fixing cover 30 includes a second side lid 31, a first positioning member 32 extending outwardly from a central position of an inner surface of the second side lid 31, and a first pressing loop 33 extending outwardly from the inner surface of the second side lid 31 and located outside the first positioning member 32, wherein a cross section of the first positioning member 32 is non-circular, and the first positioning member 32 has a first orifice 34 defined thereon, a cross section of the first orifice 34 is non-circular and corresponds to a profile of the inserting post 22, the second side lid 31 has a second griping bar 311 arranged on an outer side thereof.

As illustrated in FIG. 4, in operation, for example, as desiring to sharpen a first circular blade 91 with a first locating aperture 911 (a profile of the first locating aperture 911 corresponds to that of the first positioning member 32), the inserting post 22 of the circular connecting cover 20 is inserted into the through hole 111 of the circular body 10, and the first positioning member 32 of the first circular fixing cover 30 is inserted into the first locating aperture 911 of the first circular blade 91 to position the first circular blade 91 and the first circular fixing cover 30 together, and the inserting post 22 of the circular connecting cover 20 is further inserted into the first orifice 34 of the first circular fixing cover 30 so that the circular connecting cover 20, the first circular fixing cover 30, and the first circular blade 91 are connected together, and the circular body 10 rotates along the inserting post 22.

Referring further to FIG. 5, the first griping bar 211 of the circular connecting cover 20 and the second griping bar 311 of the first circular fixing cover 30 are gripped by a user, the external wheel 12 of the circular body 10 is contacted with a flat surface and is rotated reciprocately so that the first circular blade 91 is pressed by the first pressing loop 33 to abut against the plurality of first sharpening tabs 113, and the plurality of first sharpening tabs 113 rotate with the circular body 10 to sharpen the first circular blade 91. Thereafter, the first circular blade 91 is turned upside down and is positioned on the first positioning member 32 of the first circular fixing cover 30, the first circular fixing cover 30 and the circular connecting cover 20 are connected together again to rotate repeatedly, thus sharpening the first circular blade 91 completely.

Accordingly, the first circular blade 91 is sharpened completely by the plurality of first sharpening tabs 113 and does not contact the first conical face 112 to avoid damaging the first conical face 112 and to prolong service life of the first conical face 112.

The annular portion 11 of the circular body 10 also has a second conical face 114 defined on a second side thereof opposite to the first conical face 112, and the second conical face 114 has a thickness gradually increasing to the outer rim of the annular portion 11 from the central portion of the annular portion 11, the second conical face 114 has a plurality of second sharpening tabs 115 equidistantly arranged thereon adjacent to the through hole 111 and made of ceramic material.

As illustrated in FIG. 7, as desiring to sharpen a second circular blade 92 with a second locating aperture 921 (a profile of the second locating aperture 921 corresponds to that of the second positioning member 42), the inserting post 22 of the circular connecting cover 20 is inserted into the through hole 111 of the circular body 10, and the second positioning member 42 of the second circular fixing cover 40 is inserted into the second locating aperture 921 of the second circular blade 91 to position the second circular blade 91 and the second circular fixing cover 40 together, thereafter the inserting post 22 of the circular connecting cover 20 is further inserted into the second orifice 44 of the second circular fixing cover 40 so that the circular connecting cover 20, the second circular fixing cover 40, and the second circular blade 92 are connected together, and the circular body 10 rotates along the inserting post 22, such that the second circular blade 92 is pressed by the second pressing loop 43 to abut against the plurality of second sharpening tabs 115, and the plurality of second sharpening tabs 115 rotate with the circular body 10 to sharpen the second circular blade 92. Thereafter, the second circular blade 92 is turned upside down and is positioned on the second positioning member 42 of the second circular fixing cover 40, the second circular fixing cover 40 and the circular connecting cover 20 are connected together again to rotate repeatedly, thus sharpening the second circular blade 92 completely.

Thereby, the knife sharping device is capable of sharpening various circular blades (such as the first circular blade and the second circular blade).
