DETAILED DESCRIPTION

According to embodiments provided herein, a slim-sized dual makeup applicator compactly provides two applicators for cosmetic product application or maintenance. The applicators are contained or removably fitted within a single body, providing for a compact arrangement.

As used herein, cosmetic packaging may refer to a container in which a cosmetic product may be contained or housed. In some embodiments, cosmetic packaging may refer to removable portions of cosmetic packaging, such as cosmetic brushes, applicators, and the like; for example, a cosmetic brush for applying powder, blush, or bronzer.

As used herein, a cosmetic product refers to various types of cosmetics including, but not limited to powder, blush, bronzer, eye shadow, concealer, lipstick, mascara, eyeliner, and the like.

As used herein, an applicator refers to a tool used to apply cosmetic products, and to cosmetic product tools.

As will be appreciated by those of skill in the art, the various containers and other cosmetic packaging or products described herein can be made of any suitable material or combination of materials, such as plastic, metal, ceramic, wood, glass, paper, paperboard, and the like.

According to an embodiment, a cosmetic packaging 100, as shown in FIGS. 1A-1C includes a longitudinal base 110 with opposing distal ends 112 and 114. Each distal end 112, 114 has either an attached applicator that extends longitudinally outward from the longitudinal base 110, or a recess within the longitudinal base 110 for fitting and containing therein a removable applicator. In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 1B and 1C, an attached applicator 120 extends outward from the longitudinal base 110 at distal end 112; and a removable applicator 130 fits within a recess 132 at distal end 114.

According to an embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 1A-1C, the cosmetic packaging 100 may also include a removable cap 122 to expose and cover the attached applicator 120. Depending on the type of applicator, a removable cap may not be provided or may be optionally provided.

In an embodiment, the attached applicator 120 or the removable cap 122 may be configured to contain a cosmetic product for application with the attached applicator 120. For example, the attached applicator 120 may be an applicator configured as any type of applicator, with or without its own source of cosmetic. For example, the applicator can be a brush, doefoot, sponge, etc. which can be used to spread cosmetics from a separate compact, or the applicator could be a tip for applying liquid eyeliner contained within the cosmetic packaging 100. In one example, the attached applicator could be configured to hold a lipstick product, and the cap 122 is provided to cover the lipstick and is removable to provide access to the lipstick. In another example, the attached applicator 120 may be a mascara brush and the mascara product may be contained within the removable cap 122, which defines a reservoir for holding the mascara. In another example, the attached applicator 120 may be a liquid eyeliner applicator, and the liquid eyeliner can be stored in the applicator 120 and/or a reservoir within the longitudinal base 110.

According to an embodiment, for the removable applicator 130 portion of the cosmetic packaging 100, the removable applicator 130 or the recess 132 may be configured to contain a cosmetic product for application with the removable applicator 130. As one example, the removable applicator 130 may be an applicator configured to hold a lipstick product, and, when not in use, the lipstick is stored within the recess 132. As another example, the attached applicator 130 may be a lip gloss applicator, and the lip gloss product is stored within and accessed from the recess 132.

According to an embodiment, the applicators 120 and 130 may be an applicator for a cosmetic product or a cosmetic product tool.

According to embodiments, examples of cosmetic products include, but are not limited to, the following: lipstick, lip gloss, mascara, concealer, primer, eye shadow, brow product, high lighter, bronzer, spot treatment, cream, foundation, sunscreen (stick or liquid), oil control product, serum, balm, wax, perfume (stick/solid, roller ball), pencil (mechanical style, regular pencil style), and liner (felt tip liner).

According to embodiments, examples of cosmetic product tools include, but are not limited to, the following: a sharpener, a cuticle tool (e.g., cuticle pusher), tweezers, and a blender.

According to an embodiment, the applicators 120 and 130 may be a sponge, a brush, a comb, a doe foot, metal tip, ceramic tip, or a chamber or compartment configured to contain a cosmetic product.

In some embodiments, removable applicator 130 may be lipstick, lip balm, or other lip product. In such embodiments, the base 110 and recess 132 form a cap for the applicator 130.

In the example embodiment shown in FIGS. 1A-IC, the attached applicator 120 extends outward from the longitudinal base 110 at distal end 112 and is configured to hold an eyeliner product; and the removable applicator 130 fits within the recess 132 at distal end 114 and is configured to hold a lipstick product. The removable cap 122 is provided to selectively expose and cover the attached applicator 120.

FIGS. 2A-2B provide cross-sectional views of the cosmetic packaging 100, according to the embodiment of FIGS. 1A-1C. The cross-sectional views illustrate the mechanisms for each applicator 120 and 130; in particular, the mechanism for twisting the attached applicator 120 for the eyeliner product and the mechanism for twisting the removable applicator 130 for the lipstick product. Moreover, interior portions of the cap 122 and the recess 132 are shaped to securely hold the applicators 120 and 130 without damaging the applicators and the cosmetic products.

Of course, other mechanisms suitable for other types of applicators, and corresponding caps and recesses, may be used in the cosmetic packaging depending on the types of applicators included in the cosmetic packaging.

While certain embodiments are described with respect to a lipstick applicator and an eyeliner applicator, the invention is not limited to this configuration. Instead, various combinations of applicators and/or cosmetic products may be provided, such as complementary items (e.g., a lip pencil and a lipstick, or a brow brush and a brow pencil) or double items (e.g., two lipsticks, two eyeliners, etc.). Additionally, any combination of the various cosmetic products, cosmetic product tools, and applicators may be used to provide the slim-sized, dual makeup applicator according to embodiments herein.

It will be appreciated that the above figures and description provide exemplary, non-limiting configurations. Although the present invention has been described with reference to these exemplary embodiments, it is not limited thereto. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that numerous changes and modifications may be made to the preferred embodiments of the invention and that such changes and modifications may be made without departing from the true spirit of the invention. It is therefore intended that the appended claims be construed to cover all such equivalent variations as fall within the true spirit and scope of the invention.
