Exercising Assembly

An exercising assembly includes an elongated member having a first end and a second end. The elongated member has a break therein positioned between the first end and second end to define a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes the first end. The first and second portions are pivotally combined such that the first and second ends are movable toward or away from each other. A resistance member is mounted on the elongated member at a juncture of the first and second portions. The resistance member resists movement of the first end toward the second end. An arm coupler is attached to the first end and releasably engages an arm of a person. A grip is attached to the second end and extends away therefrom.

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE Field of the Disclosure

The disclosure relates to arm exercising devices and more particularly pertains to a new arm exercising device for use by person while exercising their biceps and triceps.

SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising an elongated member having a first end and a second end. The elongated member has a break therein positioned between the first end and second end to define a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes the first end. The first and second portions are pivotally combined such that the first and second ends are movable toward or away from each other. A resistance member is mounted on the elongated member at a juncture of the first and second portions. The resistance member resists movement of the first end toward the second end. An arm coupler is attached to the first end and is configured to releasably engage an arm of a person. A grip is attached to the second end and extends away therefrom.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new arm exercising device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the exercising assembly 10 generally comprises an elongated member 12 that has a first end 14 and a second end 16. The elongated member 12 has a break therein positioned between the first 14 and second 16 ends to define a first portion 18 and a second portion 20. The first portion 18 includes the first end 14. The first 18 and second 20 portions are pivotally combined such that the first 14 and second 16 ends are movable toward or away from each other. The first 18 and second 20 portions are retained within a same plane during their movements with respect to each other.

A resistance member 22 is mounted on the elongated member 12 at a juncture of the first 18 and second 20 portions. The resistance member 22 resists movement of the first end 14 toward the second end 16. The resistance member 22 may comprise any conventional resistance means for resisting movement of the first 14 and second 16 ends with respect to each other. For example FIG. 3 depicts a threaded rod 24 positioned within the juncture of the first 18 and second 20 portions that may be rotated to move stops 26 into abutment with the first 18 and/or second 20 portions. Tightening of these stops with tighten the abutment which will in turn cause more force to be used to move the first 14 and second 16 ends with respect to each other. Elastomeric gaskets 28 may also be used to increase friction between the stops 26 and the elongated member 12. However, spring type biasing members or other conventional structures may be utilized instead.

An arm coupler 30 is attached to the first end 14. The arm coupler 30 is configured to releasably engage an arm of a person such as in the bicep area. The arm coupler 30 includes a brace 32 and the brace 32 has an inner surface 34 and an outer surface 36. The brace 32 may be comprised of a rigid material such as plastic or metal. The inner surface 34 has a concave shape configured to abut a surface of the arm. A strap 38 of flexible material is attached to the brace 32. The strap 38 is removably attached to the brace 32 to form a closed loop. This may be done in a conventional manner such as using a hook and loop coupler 40 between the strap 38 and the brace 32. A connector 42 is attached to the outer surface 36. The connector 42 is pivotally coupled to the first end 14 and has a rotational axis oriented perpendicular a longitudinal axis of the first portion 18. The axis of rotation of the connector 42 is parallel to an axis of rotation the first 18 and second 20 portions with respect to each other.

A grip 44 is attached to the second end 16 and extends away therefrom. The grip 44 is pivotally coupled to the second end 16 and the grip 44 is pivotal along an axis of rotation orientated perpendicular to the rotational axis of the connector 42. This allows the grip 44, having an elongated gripping area, to be positioned in line with the second portion 20 as shown in FIG. 5 or perpendicular to the second portion 20 as shown in FIG. 6.

In use, the arm coupler 30 is placed on the arm of the person and the grip 44 is held to move the first 14 and second 16 ends toward each other. The resistance member 22 exercises the user's arm by forcing the biceps to strain when pulling the first 14 and second 16 ends together and strain the triceps when pushing the first 14 and second 16 ends away from each other.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. An arm exercising assembly comprising:

an elongated member having a first end and a second end, said elongated member having a break therein positioned between said first and second ends to define a first portion and a second portion, said first portion including said first end, said first and second portions being pivotally combined such that said first and second ends are movable toward or away from each other;
a resistance member being mounted on said elongated member at a juncture of said first and second portions, said resistance member resisting movement of said first end toward said second end;
an arm coupler being attached to said first end, said arm coupler being configured to releasably engage an arm of a person, said arm coupler including a brace coupled to said first end, said brace having an inner surface and an outer surface, said inner surface having a concave shape configured to abut a surface of the arm, a strap being attached to said brace, said strap being removably attached to said brace to form a closed loop;
a connector being attached to said outer surface, said connector being pivotally coupled to said first end, said connector having a rotational axis oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said first portion and coplanar with said brace; and
a grip being attached to said second end and extending away therefrom.

6. An arm exercising assembly comprising:

an elongated member having a first end and a second end, said elongated member having a break therein positioned between said first and second ends to define a first portion and a second portion, said first portion including said first end, said first and second portions being pivotally combined such that said first and second ends are movable toward or away from each other;
a resistance member being mounted on said elongated member at a juncture of said first and second portions, said resistance member resisting movement of said first end toward said second end;
an arm coupler being attached to said first end, said arm coupler being configured to releasably engage an arm of a person, said arm coupler including a brace, said brace having an inner surface and an outer surface, said inner surface having a concave shape configured to abut a surface of the arm, a strap being attached to said brace, said strap being removably attached to said brace to form a closed loop, a connector being attached to said outer surface, said connector being pivotally coupled to said first end, said connector having a rotational axis oriented perpendicular a longitudinal axis of said first portion and coplanar with said brace; and
a grip being attached to said second end and extending away therefrom, said grip being pivotally coupled to said second end, said grip being pivotal along an axis of rotation orientated perpendicular to said rotational axis of said connector.
