INFANT BED AND CHAIR
An infant bed and chair that includes: a base; a back support attached to the base; and at least one vertical support attached to an underside of the back support, wherein the at least one vertical supports enable vertical elevation of the back support. The infant bed and chair may further include slit openings along an inner surface of the back support and along an inner surface of the base. Preferably, the infant bed and chair may include a cushion. In one particular embodiment, the at least one vertical support elevates the back support to about a 30-degree angle.
The present invention relates to an infant bed and chair that may be used as a temporary chair and/or bed for use with an infant.
Description of Related ArtMany infants have special beds designed for their use. Infant bedding typically includes some type of side rails or walls to help contain the infant within the bed. Further the beds include a small mattress and may include bumpers along the side walls of the bed. Smaller beds or playpens are also available in the form of bassinettes or playpens that have similar construction. The bassinette provides more of a small cradle that is portable typically with a flat mattress or cushion within the bassinette. One drawback to these types of beds is that the mattress is normally flat and therefore a small child may have difficulty sitting up while being fed or even put to sleep. Keeping the child in a somewhat upright position is highly effective to prevent choking or other injuries even such as crib death. As a result, it would be advantageous to have a bed or system for placement of an infant that includes an inclining portion to support the infant on an incline as opposed to a flat mattress.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to an infant bed and chair that includes: a base; a back support attached to the base; and at least one vertical support attached to an underside of the back support, wherein the at least one vertical supports enable vertical elevation of the back support. The infant bed and chair may further include slit openings along an inner surface of the back support and along an inner surface of the base. The bed further includes slits for placement of belt straps to allow support of the infant within the bed or chair through the use of a belt system. The present invention provides a infant bed and chair that is convertible to an elevated position to ensure an upright positioning of the infant while in the bed.
