Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

The present disclosure generally relates to garments and, more particularly to undershorts suitable for sportspersons, athletes, players and the like.

BACKGROUND

Undershorts are shorts or briefs worn as an undergarment, and these are extensively worn by users especially cyclists, athletes or other sportspersons. For example, undershorts such as cycling shorts are quite popular amongst cyclists and/or riders. The cycling shorts are made up of stretchable fabrics, which are designed to provide a compression effect for muscle support and blood flow stimulation.

Currently available undershorts such as cycling shorts are rendered uncomfortable and unhygienic when used with protracted wear, as a strenuous activity like cycling may cause constant perspiration to the cyclist. A prompt removal after the ride can avoid cycling induced sores and rashes in the groin region or in other skin areas that are in constant contact with the material of the undershorts. Currently, a user needs to take off the outer shorts in order to remove the undershorts and as such, the user needs to use a change room facility to accomplish this task. In many scenarios, the change room facility may not be available to the user. This may especially be the case, when a user indulges in bicycle rides stretching for long durations and/or rides covering different (and possibly remote) locations.

It would be advantageous to provide users (e.g., cyclists) with the ability to remove the undershorts worn beneath the outer shorts without the need to avail change room facilities. Such a mechanism would keep the users free from changing room worries and would ensure proper hygiene, skin care and comfort for the users.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

In the following description, for purposes of explanation, various specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the present disclosure. It will be apparent, however, to one skilled in the art that the present disclosure can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, methods are shown in diagram form only in order to avoid obscuring the present disclosure.

Reference in this specification to “one embodiment” or “an embodiment” means that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment is included in at least one embodiment of the present disclosure. The appearance of the phrase “in one embodiment” in various places in the specification are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment, nor are separate or alternative embodiments mutually exclusive of other embodiments. Moreover, various features are described which may be exhibited by some embodiments and not by others. Similarly, various requirements are described which may be requirements for some embodiments but not for other embodiments.

Moreover, although the following description contains many specifics for the purposes of illustration, anyone skilled in the art will appreciate that many variations and/or alterations to said details are within the scope of the present disclosure. Similarly, although many of the features of the present disclosure are described in terms of each other, or in conjunction with each other, one skilled in the art will appreciate that many of these features can be provided independently of other features. Accordingly, this description of the present disclosure is set forth without any loss of generality to, and without imposing limitations upon, the present disclosure.

The terms “a pair of undershorts” and “a pair of outer shorts” have also been interchangeably used as “undershorts” and “outer shorts”, respectively throughout the present description.

Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide undershorts than can be removed by the user without the need to take off outer shorts worn above the undershorts. The undershorts comprises a pair of leg portions, at least one seam configured on at least one leg portion of the pair of leg portions and at least one fastening means for bonding the separation of the at least one seam. The at least one seam is configured such that it runs from a waistline of the undershorts to hem of corresponding leg portion of the undershorts. In use, the user can easily remove the undershorts without taking off the outer shorts by simply reaching underneath the outer shorts, separating along the at least one seam by opening the at least one fastening means and pulling the undershorts from a leg opening of the outer shorts. In some embodiments, if the seams present on both of the leg portions of the undershorts are separated completely by way of opening corresponding fastening means, the undershorts may also be removed by pulling up from a waist opening of the outer shorts.

FIGS. 1A, 1B and 1C illustrate different perspective views of a pair of undershorts 100 (hereinafter referred to as ‘undershorts 100’), in accordance with an example embodiment of the present disclosure. Specifically, FIG. 1A represents a front perspective view of the undershorts 100, and FIGS. 1B and 1C represent side perspective views of the undershorts 100. The undershorts 100 can be worn by an athlete, a cyclist, a player, or any sports person, however it should be noted that the undershorts 100 can also be used by even those who are not necessarily an athlete, a cyclist, a sports person and the like.

The undershorts 100 includes a pair of leg portions 102a and 102b, and a waistline 103, among other parts. The undershorts 100 is configured such that it is separable along a seam formed on one or both of the leg portions 102a and 102b. In the example representations of the undershorts 100, seams 104a and 104b are shown on the leg portions 102a and 102b, respectively. In the context of present description, a seam is defined as a line or a joint where two pieces may be joined by a fastening means. In FIGS. 1A to 1C, seams 104a and 104b are shown as side seams, however alternatively or optionally, such a seam may be placed in a straight, in an angled or in a diagonal arrangement between a waist end (in the waistline 103) of the undershorts 100 and a leg portion opening (in the leg portions 102a and/or 102b) of the undershorts 100. Further, the seam 104a and/or seam 104b may be present in the front side or even in the back side of the undershorts 100. Hence, the primary requirement in configuration of the seams 104a and 104b is such that the seams 104a and 104b should run through the length of the undershorts 100 from a waist end to a leg end. For example, as shown in FIG. 1B, the seam 104a runs through a waist end (106w) to a leg portion end (106l).

The undershorts 100 further includes at least one fastening means such as a fastening means along the seams 104a and 104b for bonding the separations along the seams 104a and 104b. For example, the undershorts 100 includes fastening means 108a and 108b for bonding (or joining) the separations along the seams 104a and 104b, respectively. It is noted that at least one fastening means is included corresponding to each of the seams 104a and 104b. For instance, in FIG. 1A, the fastening means 108a is used to join the seam 104a (or separate the joined seam 104a), and the fastening means 108b is used to join the seam 104b (or separate the joined seam 104b).

In the embodiment of FIGS. 1A, 1B and 1C, fastening means 108a and 108b are shown as zippers, however, it should be understood that snaps, buttons, hooks, Velcro™, etc., may also be used as fastening means. The ‘fastening means 108a and 108b’ are hereinafter also interchangeably referred to as ‘zippers 108a and 108b’. As shown in example representation in FIGS. 1B and 1C, a desired separation along the seam 104a may be achieved by moving a puller 110a of the zipper 108a. Similarly, a puller 110b of the zipper 108b may be used for achieving a desire separation along the seam 104b. The directions of the pullers 110a and 110b may be configured in either ways. For example, in one configuration, the puller 110a can be pulled down from the waist end (e.g., 106w) to the leg portion end (e.g., 106l) for opening the zipper 108a and vice versa for closing the zipper 108a. Similarly, in another configuration, the puller 110a can be pulled up from the leg portion end (e.g., 106l) to the waist end (e.g., 106w) for opening the zipper 108a and vice versa for closing the zipper 108a.

In an optional embodiment, the undershorts 100 may have side straps 112a and 112b on the waistline 103 of the undershorts 100, where the side straps 112a and 112b are released for taking off the undershorts 100.

In use, when the undershorts 100 is worn by a user underneath a loose outer shorts, the undershorts can easily be removed without taking off the outer shorts. One example representation of process of removal of the undershorts 100 worn beneath an outer shorts is explained with reference to FIGS. 2A, 2B and 2C.

FIGS.2A, 2B and 2C are example representations of undershorts present underneath an outer shorts, a side seam separation of the undershorts without any disturbance to the outer shorts, and removal of the undershorts from an opening of a leg portion of the outer shorts, respectively. As stated earlier, the undershorts may also be separated with seam separation at one or both leg portions of the undershorts.

FIG. 2A shows an example arrangement for illustrating a position of the undershorts 100 beneath the outer shorts 200 in a typical usage. The outer shorts 200 may be shorts (or pants), which is loose enough to accommodate the undershorts 100 beneath it, and such that a user is comfortable in wearing the outer shorts 200. When the outer shorts 200 is typically worn by any user (for example, a cyclist, a sportsperson, an athlete or any person), a waistline 202 of the outer shorts 200 overlaps with the waistline 103 of undershorts 100, and the leg portion 102a is accommodated beneath a corresponding leg portion 202a of the outer shorts 200, the leg portion 102b is accommodated beneath a corresponding leg portion 202b of the outer shorts 200, and the side straps 112a and 112b remain fastened in this position.

In an example scenario, the user may want to take out the undershorts 100 from beneath the outer shorts 200 after a bicycle ride, any other physical activity or sports, or due to any other reason. The user may remove the undershorts 100 without removing the outer shorts 200 by simply reaching under the outer shorts 200 and detaching the seam (for example separating by unzipping the zippers 108a and/or 108b) configured on one or both of the leg portions 102a and 102b of the undershorts 100. If at least one of the seams 104a and 104b is detached or separated, the undershorts 100 can be removed by pulling it down through a leg opening of the outer shorts 200 on the side of the opposite leg. If both seams (104a and 104b) are detached or separated, the undershorts 100 can be removed through either of the leg openings or the waist opening of the outer shorts 200.

FIG. 2B shows an intermediate position of the undershorts 100 beneath the outer shorts 200 while removal of the undershorts 100 from beneath the outer shorts 200. In FIG. 2B, it is shown that the zipper 108a is opened by pulling the puller 110a all the way from the leg portion end of the undershorts 100 to a waist end of the undershorts 100, thereby completely separating the seam 104a. It should be understood that the zipper 108b may also be opened by pulling the puller 110b all the way from a corresponding leg portion end of the undershorts 100 to a corresponding waist end of the undershorts 100.

FIG. 2C illustrates an intermediate position of the outer shorts 200 and the undershorts 100 once the user starts removing the undershorts 100 from beneath the outer shorts 200. In this representation, as the seam 104a is completely separated and the side strap 112a is released, the leg portion 102b of the undershorts 100 is pulled down from the opening of the opposite leg portion (e.g., leg portion 202b) of the outer shorts 200. It will be appreciated by those ordinarily skilled in the art that while removal of the undershorts 100 (e.g., inner cycling shorts), the loose outer shorts 200 remains intact as also depicted in FIG. 2C.

In the depicted embodiments in FIGS. 2A, 2B and 2C, only seam 104a is shown to be separated for the removal of the undershorts 100 from beneath the outer shorts 200, however it should be noted that the seam 104b can also be separated and the undershorts 100 can be removed by pulling down from the opening of the leg portion 202a. Also, in another example, both of the seams 104a and 104b can be separated, and the undershorts 100 can be removed from either of the leg opening (the openings of the leg portions 202a and 202b) of the outer shorts 200 or from a waist opening (of the waistline 202) of the outer shorts 200.

FIGS. 3A and 3B are example representations of the side seam separation 104a, 104b of the undershorts 100 without any disturbance to the outer shorts 200 in accordance with another example embodiment. As shown in this example representation (FIG. 3A), the seam separations 104a, 104b of the undershorts 100 is separated at both leg portions 202a, 202b of the undershorts 100.

FIG. 3A shows an intermediate position of the undershorts 100 beneath the outer shorts 200 while removal of the undershorts 100 from the waist end of the outer shorts 200. The zippers 108a, 108b are opened by pulling the pullers 110a, 110b all the way from the leg ends of the leg portion 202a, 202b of the undershorts 100 to the waist end of the undershorts 100, thereby completely separating the seams 104a and 104b, respectively. FIG. 3B illustrates an intermediate position of the outer shorts 200 and the undershorts 100 once the user starts removing the undershorts 100 from the waist end opening (waistline 202) of the outer shorts 200. In this representation, as the seams 104a and 104b are completely separated and the side straps 112a and 112b are released, the waistline 103 of the undershorts 100 is pulled upwards from the waist end opening of the outer shorts 200 (e.g., waistline 202) of the outer shorts 200. It will be appreciated by those ordinarily skilled in the art that while removal of the undershorts 100 (e.g., inner cycling shorts), the loose outer shorts 200 remains intact as depicted in FIG. 3B. Also, in another example, both of the seams 104a and 104b can be separated, and the undershorts 100 can be removed from either of the leg opening (the openings of the leg portions 202a and 202b) of the outer shorts 200.

The seams 104a and 104b are shown in form of side seams of the undershorts 100. However, any placement of the seams 104a and 104b will be within spirit and scope of the present disclosure, as long as the seams 104a and 104b are separable by running from waist opening to hem of corresponding leg portions 102a and 102b, respectively. For instance, the seams 104a and/or 104b may be straight or angled between the waist opening to the leg openings on the front side of the undershorts (refer FIGS. 4A and 4B) and any one of the seams 104a and 104b may be separated by a user wearing the undershorts 100 to take out the undershorts 100 from beneath the outer shorts 200 worn by the user. In another embodiment, the seams 104a and/or 104b may be straight or angled between the waist opening to the leg openings on the back side of the undershorts.

In an embodiment illustrated in FIG. 4C, the present invention provides an undershorts such as an undershorts 150 that includes only one seam 104a on one leg portion for example, leg portion 102a (refer FIG. 4C) and the seam 104a is separated by a user wearing the undershorts 150 to take out the undershorts 150 from beneath the outer shorts 200 worn by the user. The undershorts 150 is removed by pulling down the leg portion 102b of the undershorts 150 from the opening of the opposite leg portion (e.g., the leg portion 202b) of the outer shorts 200. In another example embodiment, the undershorts 150 may include only one seam 104b on the leg portion 102b. Separating one of the seams (104a or 104b) and removing the undershorts 100 from beneath the outer shorts 200 has been explained with reference to FIGS. 2B and 2C.

In various implementations, the undershorts described in the present disclosure would be worn under outer shorts while in use; however such implementations should not be considered limiting to the scope of the present disclosure. For example, in some implementations, the undershorts can be an example of a standard Lycra exercise shorts configured using one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, where the Lycra exercise shorts can be worn by a user for exercise purposes, without wearing outer shorts (e.g., baggy shorts) over the Lycra exercise shorts. In such implementations, when the user desires to remove the Lycra exercise shorts, the user can put on a pair of looser shorts over the Lycra exercise shorts and can remove the Lycra exercise shorts using techniques described in the present disclosure with reference to FIGS. 2A-2C, 3A-3B.

Without in any way limiting the scope, interpretation, or application of the embodiments of the present disclosure, a technical effect of one or more of the example embodiments disclosed herein is to provide undershorts that can be removed by a user without the need to remove the loose outer shorts worn above the undershorts. The example embodiments of the present disclosure suggest techniques for easy removal of the undershorts by the user even in open areas typically associated with physical activity such as running tracks, jogging paths, cycling zones, gymnasiums etc.

Generally, prolonged wear of conventional undershorts may cause sores or rashes on user's skin that is in constant contact with material of the conventional undershorts (e.g., user's leg portions or the groin area (see, 204)) due to constant perspiration. However, undershorts described in various embodiments of the present disclosure preclude or minimize such unwanted occurrences by facilitating the alternative of quick and easy removal of undershorts (e.g., undershorts 100) as soon as the activity is concluded or as per the user's desire. It should further be appreciated that due to the undershorts provided in various embodiments of present disclosure, a separate change room or closet is not needed for this purpose as the user can remove the undershorts by opening one or both of the fastening means (e.g., fastening means 108a and 108b) by reaching underneath the outer shorts 200 and pulling the undershorts 100 from a leg opening of the outer shorts 200.

The present disclosure offers design flexibility in terms of placement of at least one seam on at least one leg portion of the undershorts. Further, the at least one seam may be angled or running straight from waist to hem of corresponding leg portion of the undershorts. Also, any suitable fastening means such as zippers, buttons, snaps and Velcro™ may be used in the undershorts. Moreover, the undershorts provided by various embodiments of the present disclosure may be used as compression shorts for all sport activities including cycling, running, exercising, or may even be used for other routine activities by the user.

The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present disclosure have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the present disclosure to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The exemplary embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the present disclosure and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the present disclosure and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.
