Blanket Assembly

A blanket assembly may include a removable cover. The removable cover includes a first portion, a second portion attached to the first portion, and a cavity is defined by the first portion and the second portion. The blanket assembly also includes a first blanket insert sized to fit within the cavity, a fastener mechanism that connects the first blanket insert at a fixed location within the cavity, and a liquid resistant barrier disposed around the first blanket insert within the cavity.

BACKGROUND

Therapeutic weighted blankets are sometimes used for calming individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Often, the blankets contain metal or plastic beads sewn into layers or pockets of the blanket's material. The weight may provide a spread out, deep pressure that stimulates certain sensors in the individual. In some cases, weight blankets are believed to trigger biochemical reactions resulting in the release of serotonin, which can calm an individual and put them in a happier mood.

One type of a weighted blanket is disclosed in U.S. Patent Publication No. 2011/0047698 issued to Eileen Linda Parker. In this references, a weighted blanket is described as including an inner liner that is filled with weighted filler material and closed to limit movement of the weighted material within the inner liner. In some embodiments, the inner liner is securely sewn within an outer liner to prevent movement of the inner liner within the outer liner, thereby preventing the inner liner from becoming detached from the outer liner.

Another type of weighted blanket is disclosed in WIPO International Publication No. WO/2012/009739 issued to Linda Collier. In this reference, a weighted blanket is described as having a cover and a body adapted to be inserted into the cover, wherein the body contains a plurality of cells which are filled with a gel, so as to provide weight to the body. Both of these documents are herein incorporated by reference for all that they teach.

SUMMARY

In one embodiment, a blanket assembly includes a removable cover. The removable cover includes a first portion, a second portion attached to the first portion, and a cavity is defined by the first portion and the second portion. The blanket assembly also includes a first blanket insert sized to fit within the cavity, a fastener mechanism that connects the first blanket insert at a fixed location within the cavity, and a liquid resistant barrier disposed around the first blanket insert within the cavity.

At least one of the first portion and the second portion may include a first cover side, a second cover side aligned with and spaced apart at a distance away from the first cover side, a third cover side connecting the first cover side and the second cover side, and a fourth cover side connecting the first cover side and the second cover side. The fourth cover side may be aligned with the third cover side and spaced apart from the third cover side at a distance. The first cover side, the second cover side, the third cover side, and the fourth cover side may collectively form a cover perimeter of the removable cover.

The first blanket insert may include a first insert side, a second insert side may be aligned with and spaced apart at a distance away from the first insert side, a third insert side connecting the first insert side and the second insert side, and a fourth insert side connecting the first insert side and the second insert side. The fourth insert side may be aligned with the third insert side and spaced apart from the third insert side at a distance. The first insert side, the second insert side, the third insert side, and the fourth insert side may collectively form an insert perimeter of the blanket insert.

The fastener mechanism may be located at a first insert corner of the blanket insert, and the fixed location may be at a corresponding first cover corner of the removable cover.

The blanket assembly may include a second faster mechanism that is located at a second insert corner of the blanket insert that corresponds with a second cover corner of the removable cover.

The blanket assembly may include a third faster mechanism that is located at a third insert corner of the blanket insert that corresponds with a third cover corner of the removable cover.

The liquid resistance barrier may be formed with an envelope that surrounds the first blanket insert.

The blanket assembly may include a fastener opening defined in the liquid resistant barrier that located to allow passage of the fastener mechanism of the first blanket insert to the fixed location within the cavity.

The fastener opening may be located at a corner of the liquid resistant barrier.

The liquid resistance barrier may be independent of the removable cover and the first blanket insert.

The blanket assembly may include a second blanket insert spread out and aligned with the first blanket insert.

The second blanket insert may be attached to the first blanket insert.

The second blanket insert may be attached to the first blanket insert with the fastener mechanism.

The second blanket insert and the first blanket insert may be both disposed within an envelope.

The envelope may include a water resistance barrier.

The blanket assembly may include a fastener opening defined in the envelope that is located to allow passage of the fastener mechanism to attach to the removable cover.

The fastener opening may be located at a corner of the envelope.

The blanket assembly may include a removable cover surface area of the removable cover, a first blanket insert surface area of the first blanket insert that is at least 80 percent of the removable cover surface area, and a second blanket insert surface area of the second blanket insert that is at least 80 percent of the removable cover surface area.

In one embodiment, a blanket assembly includes a removable cover means. The removable cover means includes a first portion, a second portion attached to the first portion, a cavity is defined by the first portion and the second portion, a blanket insert means includes at least one blanket insert sized to fit within the cavity, a fastener means that connects the first blanket insert at a fixed location within the cavity, and a liquid resistant means disposed around the first blanket insert within the cavity.

In one embodiment, a blanket assembly includes a removable cover. The removable cover includes a first portion, a second portion attached to the first portion, a cavity is defined by the first portion and the second portion. The blanket assembly further includes a first blanket insert spread out within the cavity and aligned with the cavity, a second blanket insert spread out and aligned with the first blanket insert within the cavity, the second blanket insert being fastened to the first blanket insert, the second blanket insert and the first blanket insert are both disposed within an envelope, a fastener mechanism that connects the first blanket insert at a fixed location within the cavity, a fastener opening defined in the envelope that is located to allow passage of the fastener mechanism to attach to the removable cover, and the fastener opening being located at a corner of the envelope. The envelope includes a liquid resistant barrier.

The blanket assembly may include a removable cover surface area of the removable cover, a first blanket insert surface area of the first blanket insert that is at least 80 percent of the removable cover surface area, and a second blanket insert surface area of the second blanket insert that is at least 80 percent of the removable cover surface area.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

For purposes of this disclosure, the term “aligned” means parallel, substantially parallel, or forming an angle of less than 35.0 degrees. For purposes of this disclosure, the term “transverse” means perpendicular, substantially perpendicular, or forming an angle between 55.0 and 125.0 degrees. Also, for purposes of this disclosure, the term “length” means the longest dimension of an object. Also, for purposes of this disclosure, the term “width” means the dimension of an object from side to side. Often, the width of an object is transverse the object's length. For the purposes of this disclosure, the term “set” generally refers to one or more of a group, including up to the entire group.

Therapeutic blankets are often weighted to provide a deep pressure sensation in people with anxiety disorders. These types of blankets are often used for children and adults on the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Conventional therapeutic blankets often have plastic beads that are incorporated into the blanket. In some cases, the beads are disposed within pockets formed or attached to the blanket. Individuals often become emotionally attached to their blankets for a number of factors including the look and feel of the blanket. But, as the child grows older, the weight of the blanket may need to increase to provide the same deep pressure sensation. Unfortunately, replacing a blanket to which the child is emotionally attached may be difficult for the child and may result in a bad experience for the child and/or the parents.

The blanket assembly described in this disclosure has the advantage that the blanket assembly is changeable to meet the child's needs as the child grows. For example, the weight of the blanket assembly can increase as the child grows by adding blanket inserts to the blanket assembly. The blanket inserts may be insertable into a removable cover. When a child is young, the blanket assembly may include a single blanket insert that is secured within the removable cover. The removable cover provides the look and feel of the blanket with which the child is familiar, not the blanket insert. As the child grows and more weight in the blanket is desirable, an additional blanket insert can be joined to the first blanket insert in the removable cover. To the appearance of the child when additional blanket inserts are added, the blanket assembly merely has more weight, which is desirable, but the look and feel of the blanket remains the same.

Another advantage of the blanket assembly is that the removable cover can be washed without having to wash the entire blanket assembly. With at least some of the conventional therapeutic blankets, the entire blanket has to be washed when the blanket becomes dirty or wetted during the night. The separation from the blanket can be difficult for the child. Additionally, when the blanket is weighed down with plastic beads, the beads can fuse together in the dryer after washing. Having the beads fused together can change the feel of the blanket to the child. While the beads can sometimes be separated, the effort involved in breaking up the clumps of beads is time consuming for the parent, but also keeps the blanket away from a child who may not understand why he or she still has to wait for the blanket. The removable cover allows the blanket inserts, which provide the weight of the blanket assembly, to be removed and inserted into another removable cover while the dirty removable cover is being washed. In those examples where the replacement removable cover is identical to the dirty removable cover, the blanket assembly retains the look and feel to the child. As a result, the child does not have to deal with the separation from the blanket for an extended period of time; just the time involved with replacing the removable cover; thereby giving the parent and the child an opportunity for a better night sleep. The parent or care giver does not have to prioritize washing the blanket right away over other duties to satisfy the immediate emotional needs of the child. Rather, the parent can put the dirty removable cover with the rest of the dirty laundry for washing when desired. Also, the washing machine is spared from washing a heavier load because just the removable cover is washed, rather than washing the entire weighted blanket.

FIGS. 1-2 depict an example of the blanket assembly 100. In this example, the blanket assembly 100 includes a removable cover 102, which provides the look and feel of a blanket. The removable cover 102 may be made of any appropriate type of fabric. In some cases, the removable cover 102 includes logos, colors, pictures, or other types of images liked by the child or other user. The fabric may include a soft feel or another type of pleasurable feel to the child or user.

The removable cover 102 includes a first cover portion 104 and a second cover portion 106 that are aligned with one another. In some examples, the first cover portion 104 and the second cover portion 106 are attached at their edges to define a cavity there between. In the inside surface of the cavity, fastener mechanisms may secure the blanket inserts to at least one of the first cover portion 104 and the second cover portion 106 when disposed within the cavity.

The blanket inserts 108 may be sized to have a comparable surface area to the surface area of the removable cover 102 when the blanket inserts 108 are spread out. In this example, a blanket insert 108 can be inserted into the cavity defined by the first and second cover portions 104, 106 of the removable cover 102 and spread out across at least most of the width and length of the first and second cover portions 104, 106.

In the illustrated example, the removable cover 102 includes an attachment 110 that joins the first cover portion 104 and the second cover portion 106 together. In some cases, the attachment 110 fastens the entire perimeters of the first and second cover portions 104, 106 together. But, in some examples, the attachments may secure only some sections of the first and second cover portions 104, 106 together. In the illustrated example, the attachments is a zipper. But, any appropriate type of attachment may be used. For example, a non-exhaustive list of attachments that may be used includes zippers, Velcro, snaps, tie downs, magnets, twisties, hooks, pins, another types of attachments, or combinations thereof.

In some cases, the first cover portion 104 and the second cover portion 106 are part of a single sheet that is folded over to form the first and second cover portions 104, 106. In other examples, the first cover portion 104 is independent of the second cover portion 106.

FIGS. 3-4 depict an example of a blanket assembly 300. FIG. 3 depicts a perspective view of an example of a blanket assembly 300. FIG. 4 depicts an exploded view of an example of a blanket assembly 300. In this example, the blanket assembly 300 includes a blanket insert 302, a liquid resistant envelope 304, and a removable cover 306.

In some examples, at least one of the first portion 308 of the removable cover 306 and the second portion 310 of the removable cover 306 includes a first cover side 312, a second cover side 314 aligned with and spaced apart at a distance away from the first cover side 312, a third cover side 316 connecting the first cover side 312 and the second cover side 314, and a fourth cover side 318 connecting the first cover side 312 and the second cover side 314. The fourth cover side 318 may be aligned with the third cover side 316 and spaced apart from the third cover side 316 at a distance. In this example, the first cover side 312, the second cover side 314, the third cover side 316, and the fourth cover side 318 collectively form a cover perimeter of the removable cover 306.

Further, the blanket insert 302 may include a first insert side 322, a second insert side 324 aligned with and spaced apart at a distance away from the first insert side 322, a third insert side 326 connecting the first insert side 322 and the second insert side 324, and a fourth insert side 328 connecting the first insert side 322 and the second insert side 324. The fourth insert side 328 may be aligned with the third insert side 326 and spaced apart from the third insert side 326 at a distance. In this example, the first insert side 322, the second insert side 324, the third insert side 326, and the fourth insert side 328 collectively form an insert perimeter of the blanket insert 302. The insert perimeter 330 may define a front insert face 332 and a back insert face 334.

The blanket insert 302 may be disposed within an envelope 304 that is at least liquid resistant. In some cases, the envelope 304 is water proof. The blanket insert 302 may surround the blanket insert 302 or blanket inserts to protect the blanket inserts from liquid. In some cases, the envelope 304 is made of a water resistant, but washable material. In some cases, the envelope 304 is made of a fabric. In other examples, the envelope 304 is made of a plastic material. In some cases, the envelope 304 is made of a fabric with a plastic layer. In yet other examples, the envelope 304 includes a coating that provides a liquid resistance characteristic of the envelope 304.

The blanket insert 302 may be insertable into the cavity of the removable cover 306. When spread out, the envelope 304 may include a surface area that is similar to the surface area of at least one of the first cover portion 308 or the second cover portion 310. In some cases, the envelope 304 substantially fills the entire surface area of the cavity.

The envelope 304 may include at least one opening 338 that allows at least one of the blanket inserts 302 to have direct contact with the inside surface of the removable cover 306. In some examples, the openings are defined in a corner of the envelope 304. In these cases, the corners of the blanket insert 302 can protrude out of the envelope 304 for attachment or at least contact with the removable cover 306. In other examples, an opening is defined in a mid-section of the envelope, a side of the envelope, or in another location of the envelope.

In some examples, an insert attachment mechanism 340 is incorporated into the blanket insert 302 in an area where the blanket insert 302 is exposed within the envelope's opening. In some cases, the attachment mechanism is a Velcro patch. In other examples, any appropriate type of attachment mechanism may be used. A non-exhaustive list of attachment mechanisms may include a snap, a magnet, a zipper, a tie down, a hook, a catch, a corner, another type of attachment, or combinations thereof.

In some examples, the inside surface of the removable cover 306 includes a cover attachment mechanism 340 for securing the blanket insert 302 in place. In some cases, the cover attachment mechanism is independent of the insert attachment mechanism 340. In some cases, the cover attachment mechanism 340 is incorporated into the removable cover and the blanket insert does not include an insert attachment mechanism. In other cases, the insert attachment mechanism 340 and a cover attachment mechanism 340 may interact with each other to secure the blanket insert to the removable cover. In one of these examples, the insert attachment mechanism may include a Velcro patch, and the cover attachment mechanism may include a Velcro patch that line up with each other. In another example, the cover attachment mechanism 340 includes a flap 342 and the insert attachment mechanism includes a corner shaped to be retained with the flap 342. When the blanket insert 302 is inserted into the cavity, the insert's corner may be tucked behind the flap 342 to secure the blanket insert in place. In another example, the insert attachment mechanism and the cover attachment mechanism do not directly interact with each other, but both can be employed to secure the blanket insert within the removable cover's cavity.

The insert attachment mechanisms 340 may be used to attach one blanket insert to another blanket insert. In some examples, any appropriate number of blanket inserts may be attached to each other. For example, a set of blanket inserts may include one to ten inserts to achieve a desire weight.

FIGS. 5-6 depict an example of the envelope 500 with at least two blanket inserts 502, 504 disposed within the envelope 500. FIG. 5 depicts the blanket inserts 502, 504 outside of the envelope 500. FIG. 6 depicts the blanket inserts 502, 504 inserted into a space defined within the envelope 500.

The first blanket insert 502 and the second blanket insert 504 are aligned with each other. In some examples, a third blanket insert 506 is aligned with the first and second blanket inserts 502, 504. Each of the blanket inserts may be attached in a side to side arrangement so that the blanket inserts are aligned with each other. With the use of the insert attachment mechanisms, multiple blanket inserts can function as a unitary blanket insert. In some cases, a front insert face 508 of a first blanket insert 502 may be touching the back insert face 510 of a second, adjacent blanket insert 504. In an example with three blanket inserts, the second blanket insert 504 may be sandwiched between the first blanket insert 502 and a third blanket insert 506. In this kind of example, the front face of the second insert may touch the back face of the first insert while the back face of the second insert touches the front face of the third insert.

The blanket inserts may be secured together in the aligned orientations through attachment mechanisms 512. In the illustrated example, the attachment mechanisms are Velcro patches located in a first insert corner 514, a second insert corner 516, a third insert corner 518, and a fourth insert corner 520 of each of the blanket inserts. A Velcro patch may be incorporated into both the front face and the back face of the blanket inserts. These attachment mechanisms may line up with each other so that when the blanket inserts are adjacent to one another in the aligned orientations that the attachment mechanisms can attach to each other. In some cases, the Velcro patches may line up with Velcro patches incorporated into the inside of the removable cover. In those examples, these Velcro patches or other types of attachment mechanisms may secure the set of blanket inserts within the cavity of the removable cover.

In one example, a blanket insert may include a first set of attachment mechanisms incorporated into a first face that attaches to an adjacent blanket insert. The same blanket insert may include a second set of attachment mechanisms that are incorporated into a second face that attaches to the removable cover.

In some cases, the set of inserts can be collectively inserted into the envelope. In those examples where the envelope has open corners, the corners of the blanket inserts may protrude out of the envelope and thus, the attachments of the blanket inserts may protrude out of the envelope. In this example, the blanket inserts may fill the volume of the envelope, but not be rigidly secured to one location within the envelope. But, in some cases, due to the sizes of the blanket inserts and the volume of the envelope, the set of blanket inserts may remain relatively fixed in place with respect of the envelope.

While this example depicts the Velcro patches or other types of attachments mechanisms being located in the corners of the blanket inserts, attachment mechanisms may be incorporated into the inside of the removable cover at other locations, such as in the center of the front face or back face, the sides, or other locations. In this example, the blanket inserts may include attachment mechanisms that line up with the attachment mechanisms of the removable cover. In some of those examples, openings may be defined in the envelope to allow the attachment mechanisms of the removable cover and the set of blanket inserts to attach.

FIG. 7 depicts an example of a blanket assembly 700. In this example, the blanket assembly 700 includes a removable cover 702 that defines a cavity 704. The cavity 704 may be closed off with an attachment 706. In this example, the attachment 706 is a zipper, but any appropriate type of attachment 706 may be used. At least one blanket insert 708 may be disposed within the removable cover 702, and the one or more blanket inserts 708 may be attached to the inside of the removable cover 702.

A first portion 710 of the removable cover 702 and a second portion 712 of the removable cover 702 may be made of the same type of material. In other examples, the first and second portions 710, 712 may be made of different materials. Further, the first and second portions 710, 712 of the removable cover 702 may have the same color, substantially the same color, the same pattern, substantially the same pattern, or combinations thereof. In some cases, the first and second portions 710, 712 may include different colors, different patterns, different textures, other differences, other similarities, or combinations thereof.

FIGS. 8 and 9 depict an example of an attachment mechanism 800 of a blanket insert 802 to the inside of the removable cover 804. In this example, the attachment mechanism 800 of the blanket insert 802 is located in the insert's corner 806. The blanket insert 802 is inserted into an envelope 808 and the insert's corner 806 protrudes out of the envelope 808. A complementary attachment mechanism 810 of the removable cover 804 lines up with the attachment mechanism 800 of the blanket insert 802. In other examples, the corners of the set of blanket inserts can be inserted into a flap on the inside of the removable cover 804. In some cases, another complementary attachment mechanism is located on the inside of the flap for securing the insert's corner to the removable cover. In this example, the attachment mechanism is a Velcro patch.

FIG. 10 depicts an alternative example of an attachment 1000 of a blanket insert 1002 to the inside of the removable cover 1004. In this example, the attachment mechanism 1000 of the blanket insert 1002 is a snap connection and is located in the insert's corner 1006. The blanket insert is inserted into an envelope 1008 and the insert's corner 1006 protrudes out of the envelope 1008. A complementary attachment mechanism 1010 of the removable cover 1004 lines up with the attachment mechanism 1000 of the blanket insert 1002.

A snap may include a pair of interlocking discs made out of a metal or plastic. A circular lip under one disc fits into a groove on the top of the other, holding them fast until a certain amount of force is applied to remove the discs from each other.

FIG. 11 depicts an example of an envelope 1100 and a plurality of blanket inserts 1102. In this example, the envelope 1100 is closed off at its corners 1104 even though the attachment mechanisms 1106 on the blanket insert are located at the insert's corners. In this example, the envelope 1100 does not provide a passage for the attachment mechanisms of the insert to attach directly to the inside of the removable cover. But, in this example, the attachment mechanisms 1106 directly connect the blanket inserts to one another.

In some cases, the envelope includes an attachment mechanism that secures the envelope at a specific location to the inside of the removable cover. In these types of examples, any appropriate type of attachment mechanism may be used to secure the envelope to the inside of the removable cover.

In other examples, no attachment mechanisms are used to secure the blanket inserts in a single location with respect to each other. In some of these examples, the surface roughness of the blanket inserts may be used to prevent the blanket inserts from drastically sliding around within the envelope.

FIG. 12 depicts an example of a blanket assembly 1200 without an envelope. In this example, another type of liquid resistance barrier may be used to reduce and/or eliminate liquid that makes contact with the removable cover from reaching the insides of the blanket inserts 1202. For example, in some cases, the inside of the removable cover 1204 is coated with a liquid resistant material. In other examples, the outside of the blanket inserts may be coated and/or layered with a liquid resistant material. In yet other examples, just some of the blanket inserts are liquid resistant inserts.

In some cases, all of the blanket inserts are made of identical materials and have the same dimensions. In other examples, the blanket inserts have different sizes, weights, thicknesses, dimensions, lengths, weighted materials, or combinations thereof. In some cases, at least some of the blanket inserts are made of washable materials. In other examples, the weighted materials of the blanket inserts may have adverse effects from washing or heat associated with washing or drying blanket inserts. In these examples, the blanket inserts may include beads, sand, thick materials, other types of weights, or combinations thereof. These types of weights may be used when the blanket assembly is constructed to reduce and/or eliminate liquid from reaching the inside of the blanket inserts. In some cases, where the outside of the blanket inserts is desired to be cleaned, the blanket inserts may be made of a material where the blanket inserts may be cleaned from the outside, such as by a sanitizing spray and/or wipe.

The description herein is provided to enable a person skilled in the art to make or use the disclosure. Various modifications to the disclosure will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the generic principles defined herein may be applied to other variations without departing from the scope of the disclosure. Thus, the disclosure is not limited to the examples described herein, but is to be accorded the broadest scope consistent with the principles and novel features disclosed herein.

Claims

1. A blanket assembly; comprising:

a removable cover, the removable cover including: a first portion; a second portion attached to the first portion; a cavity is defined by the first portion and the second portion;
a first blanket insert sized to fit within the cavity;
a fastener mechanism that connects the first blanket insert at a fixed location within the cavity; and
a liquid resistant barrier disposed around the first blanket insert within the cavity.

2. The blanket assembly of claim 1, wherein at least one of the first portion and the second portion includes:

a first cover side;
a second cover side aligned with and spaced apart at a distance away from the first cover side;
a third cover side connecting the first cover side and the second cover side; and
a fourth cover side connecting the first cover side and the second cover side, the fourth cover side is aligned with the third cover side and spaced apart from the third cover side at a second distance;
wherein the first cover side, the second cover side, the third cover side, and the fourth cover side collectively form a cover perimeter of the removable cover;
the first blanket insert further including:
a first insert side;
a second insert side aligned with and spaced apart at a third distance away from the first insert side;
a third insert side connecting the first insert side and the second insert side; and
a fourth insert side connecting the first insert side and the second insert side, the fourth insert side is aligned with the third insert side and spaced apart from the third insert side at a fourth distance;
wherein the first insert side, the second insert side, the third insert side, and the fourth insert side collectively form an insert perimeter of the first blanket insert.

3. The blanket assembly of claim 1, wherein:

the fastener mechanism is located at first insert corner of the first blanket insert; and
the fixed location is at a corresponding first cover corner of the removable cover.

4. The blanket assembly of claim 3, further including:

a second faster mechanism that is located at a second insert corner of the first blanket insert that corresponds with a second cover corner of the removable cover.

5. The blanket assembly of claim 4, further including:

a third faster mechanism that is located at a third insert corner of the first blanket insert that corresponds with a third cover corner of the removable cover.

6. The blanket assembly of claim 1, wherein the liquid resistant barrier is formed with an envelope that surrounds the first blanket insert.

7. The blanket assembly of claim 1, further including a fastener opening defined in the liquid resistant barrier that located to allow passage of the fastener mechanism of the first blanket insert to the fixed location within the cavity.

8. The blanket assembly of claim 7, wherein the fastener opening is located at a corner of the liquid resistant barrier.

9. The blanket assembly of claim 1, wherein the liquid resistant barrier is independent of the removable cover and the first blanket insert.

10. The blanket assembly of claim 1, further including a second blanket insert spread out and aligned with the first blanket insert.

11. The blanket assembly of claim 10, wherein the second blanket insert is attached to the first blanket insert.

12. The blanket assembly of claim 11, wherein the second blanket insert is attached to the first blanket insert with the fastener mechanism.

13. The blanket assembly of claim 10, wherein the second blanket insert and the first blanket insert are both disposed within an envelope.

14. The blanket assembly of claim 13, wherein the envelope includes a water resistance barrier.

15. The blanket assembly of claim 13, further including a fastener opening defined in the envelope that is located to allow passage of the fastener mechanism to attach to the removable cover.

16. The blanket assembly of claim 15, wherein the fastener opening is located at a corner of the envelope.

17. The blanket assembly of claim 15, further including:

a removable cover surface area of the removable cover;
a first blanket insert surface area of the first blanket insert that is at least 80 percent of the removable cover surface area; and
a second blanket insert surface area of the second blanket insert that is at least 80 percent of the removable cover surface area.

18. A blanket assembly; comprising:

a removable cover means, the removable cover means including: a first portion; a second portion attached to the first portion; a cavity is defined by the first portion and the second portion;
a blanket insert means includes at least one blanket insert sized to fit within the cavity;
a fastener means that connects the blanket insert means at a fixed location within the cavity; and
a liquid resistant means disposed around the blanket insert means within the cavity.

19. A blanket assembly; comprising:

a removable cover, the removable cover including: a first portion; a second portion attached to the first portion; a cavity is defined by the first portion and the second portion;
a first blanket insert spread out within the cavity and aligned with the cavity;
a second blanket insert spread out and aligned with the first blanket insert within the cavity;
the second blanket insert being fastened to the first blanket insert;
the second blanket insert and the first blanket insert are both disposed within an envelope;
a fastener mechanism that connects the first blanket insert at a fixed location within the cavity;
a fastener opening defined in the envelope that is located to allow passage of the fastener mechanism to attach to the removable cover; and
the fastener opening being located at a corner of the envelope;
wherein the envelope includes a liquid resistant barrier.

20. The blanket assembly of claim 19, further including:

a removable cover surface area of the removable cover;
a first blanket insert surface area of the first blanket insert that is at least 80 percent of the removable cover surface area; and
a second blanket insert surface area of the second blanket insert that is at least 80 percent of the removable cover surface area.
