GOLF SWING PRACTICE MAT ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF USE

A golf swing practice mat assembly and method of use for practicing a golf swing with minimal friction between a golf ball and a ground surface includes a mat that has a top side, a bottom side and a perimeter edge that is attached to and extends between the top side and the bottom side. The bottom side of the mat is abuttable against a ground surface. The mat has a plurality of apertures that extend through the top side and the bottom side. A plurality of eyelets is attached to the mat such that each of the eyelets bounds and reinforces one of the apertures. A plurality of securing members is attached to the mat. Each of the securing members secures the mat to the ground surface wherein each of the securing members extends through one of the apertures.

The disclosure and prior art relates to golf swing training devices and more particularly pertains to a new golf swing training devices for practicing a golf swing with minimal friction between a golf ball and a ground surface.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a mat that has a top side, a bottom side and a perimeter edge that is attached to and extends between the top side and the bottom side. The bottom side of the mat is abuttable against a ground surface. The mat has a plurality of apertures that extend through the top side and the bottom side. A plurality of eyelets is attached to the mat such that each of the eyelets bounds and reinforces one of the apertures. A plurality of securing members is attached to the mat. Each of the securing members is configured to secure the mat to the ground surface wherein each of the securing members extends through one of the apertures.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

FIG. 1 is a component view of a golf swing practice mat assembly and method of use according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a top side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 2 thereof, a new golf swing training devices embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 2, the golf swing practice mat assembly and method of use 10 generally comprises a mat 12 that has a top side 14, a bottom side 16 and a perimeter edge 18 that is attached to and extends between the top side 14 and the bottom side 16. The bottom side 16 of the mat 12 is abuttable against a ground surface 20. The mat 12 has a plurality of apertures 22 that extend through the top side 14 and the bottom side 16. Each of the apertures 22 is spaced from each other and distributed around the mat 12 adjacent to the perimeter edge 18. The mat 12 comprises a friction reducing material that reduces friction between the top side 14 and a golf ball 24 positioned on the top side 14.

A plurality of eyelets 26 is attached to the mat 12 such that each of the eyelets 26 bounds and reinforces one of the apertures 22. A plurality of securing members 28 is attached to the mat 12 and secures the mat 12 to the ground surface 20 wherein each of the securing members 28 extends through one of the aperture 22.

Each of the securing members 28 comprises a stake 30 that is extendable into the ground surface 20. The stake 30 is positioned adjacent to one of the apertures 22 and is spaced from the mat 12. The stake 30 has an upper end 32 and a lower end 34. The upper end 32 forms a closed loop 36 and the lower end 34 is extendable into the ground surface 20.

A coupler 38 is attached to and extends between the stake 30 and the mat 12. The coupler 38 has a first end 40 and a second end 42. The first end 40 is coupled to the closed loop 36 of the stake 30. The second end 42 extends through the aperture 22 adjacent to the stake 30 and thereby secures the mat 12 to the ground surface 20. The coupler 38 is resiliently stretchable and may comprise a spring, a surgical tube or any other resiliently stretchable material. The first end 40 and the second end 42 may each comprise a hook, but may be any other coupling capable of attaching said stake to the mat 12.

In use, the mat 12 is placed on the ground surface 20. Each stake 30 is extended into the ground surface 20 and spaced from the mat 12. The coupler 38 is positioned through the stake 30 and attached to the corresponding aperture 22 to couple the mat 12 to the ground surface 20. A golf ball 24 is positioned on the top side 14 of the mat 12. A golf club 44 is used to strike the golf ball 24 with reduced friction between the top side 14 and the golf ball 24 to allow the user 46 practice a golf swing with less friction than between the ground surface 20 and the golf ball 24.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. A golf swing practice assembly for practicing golf swings, said assembly comprising:

a mat having a top side, a bottom side and a perimeter edge being attached to and extending between said top side and said bottom side, said bottom side of said mat being abuttable against a ground surface, said mat having a plurality of apertures extending through said top side and said bottom side said top side being continuously smooth within said perimeter edge;
a plurality of eyelets being attached to said mat such that each of said eyelets bounds and reinforces one of said apertures; and
a plurality of securing members being attached to said mat, each of said securing members being configured to secure said mat to the ground surface, each of said securing members extending through one of said apertures.

2. The golf swing practice assembly according to claim 1, wherein each of said apertures is spaced from each other and distributed around said mat adjacent to said perimeter edge.

3. The golf swing practice assembly according to claim 1, wherein said mat comprises a friction reducing material, said friction reducing material being configured to reduce friction between said top side and a golf ball positioned on said top side.

4. The golf swing practice assembly according to claim 2, wherein said securing member includes:

a stake being extendable into the ground surface; and
a coupler being attached to and extending between said stake and said mat.

5. The golf swing practice assembly according to claim 4, wherein said stake is positioned adjacent to one of said apertures and being spaced from said mat.

6. The golf swing practice assembly according to claim 5, wherein said stake has an upper end and a lower end, said upper end forming a closed loop, said lower end being extendable into the ground surface.

7. The golf swing practice assembly according to claim 6, wherein said coupler has a first end and a second end, said first end being coupled to said loop, said second end extending through said aperture adjacent to said stake and thereby securing said mat to the ground surface.

8. The golf swing practice assembly according to claim 7, wherein said coupler is resiliently stretchable

9. The golf swing practice assembly according to claim 7, wherein said first end and said second end each comprises a hook.

10. A golf swing practice assembly for practicing golf swings, said assembly comprising:

a mat having a top side, a bottom side and a perimeter edge being attached to and extending between said top side and said bottom side, said bottom side of said mat being abuttable against a ground surface, said top side being continuously smooth within said perimeter edge, said mat having a plurality of apertures extending through said top side and said bottom side, each of said apertures being spaced from each other and distributed around said mat adjacent to said perimeter edge, said mat comprising a friction reducing material, said friction reducing material being configured to reduce friction between said top side and a golf ball positioned on said top side;
a plurality of eyelets being attached to said mat such that each of said eyelets bounds and reinforces one of said apertures;
a plurality of securing members being attached to said mat, each of said securing members being configured to secure said mat to the ground surface, each of said securing members extending through one of said apertures, each of said securing member comprises: a stake being extendable into the ground surface, said stake being positioned adjacent to one of said apertures and being spaced from said mat, said stake having an upper end and a lower end, said upper end forming a closed loop, said lower end being extendable into the ground surface; and a coupler being attached to and extending between said stake and said mat, said coupler having a first end and a second end, said first end being coupled to said loop, said second end extending through said aperture adjacent to said stake and thereby securing said mat to the ground surface, said coupler being resiliently stretchable, said first end and said second end each comprising a hook.

11. A method for practicing a golf swing comprising the steps of:

positioning a mat on a ground surface, said mat having a top side, a bottom side and a perimeter edge being attached to and extending between said top side and said bottom side, said bottom side of said mat being abuttable against a ground surface, said top side being continuously smooth within said perimeter edge, said mat having a plurality of apertures extending through said top side and said bottom side, a plurality of eyelets being attached to said mat such that each of said eyelets bounds and reinforces one of said apertures;
securing said mat to the ground surface with a plurality of securing members being attached to said mat, each of said securing members extending into the ground surface, each of said securing members extending through one of said apertures;
positioning a golf ball on said top side; and
striking said golf ball with a golf club.

12. The method for practicing a golf swing according to claim 11, wherein said mat further includes each of said apertures being spaced from each other and distributed around said mat adjacent to said perimeter edge.

13. The method for practicing a golf swing according to claim 11, wherein said mat comprises a friction reducing material, said friction reducing material being configured to reduce friction between said top side and a golf ball positioned on said top side.

14. The method for practicing a golf swing according to claim 11, wherein each of said securing member comprises:

a stake being extendable into the ground surface; and
a coupler being attached to and extending between said stake and said mat.

15. The method for practicing a golf swing according to claim 14, wherein said stake is positioned adjacent to one of said apertures and is spaced from said mat, said stake having an upper end and a lower end, said upper end forming a closed loop, said lower end being extendable into the ground surface.

16. The method for practicing a golf swing according to claim 15, wherein said coupler has a first end and a second end, said first end being coupled to said loop, said second end extending through said aperture adjacent to said stake and thereby securing said mat to the ground surface, said couplers being resiliently stretchable, said first end and said second end each comprising a hook.

17. A method for practicing a golf swing comprising the steps of:

positioning a mat on a ground surface, said mat having a top side, a bottom side and a perimeter edge being attached to and extending between said top side and said bottom side, said bottom side of said mat being abuttable against a ground surface, said top side being continuously smooth within said perimeter edge, said mat having a plurality of apertures extending through said top side and said bottom side, each of said apertures being spaced from each other and distributed around said mat adjacent to said perimeter edge, said mat comprising a friction reducing material, said friction reducing material being configured to reduce friction between said top side and a golf ball positioned on said top side, a plurality of eyelets being attached to said mat such that each of said eyelets bounds and reinforces one of said apertures;
securing said mat to the ground surface with a plurality of securing members being attached to said mat, each of said securing members extending into the ground surface, each of said securing members extending through one of said apertures, each of said securing member comprises: a stake being extendable into the ground surface, said stake being positioned adjacent to one of said apertures and being spaced from said mat, said stake having an upper end and a lower end, said upper end forming a closed loop, said lower end being extendable into the ground surface; a coupler being attached to and extending between said stake and said mat, said coupler having a first end and a second end, said first end being coupled to said loop, said second end extending through said aperture adjacent to said stake and thereby securing said mat to the ground surface, said couplers being resiliently stretchable, said first end and said second end each comprising a hook;
positioning a golf ball on said top side; and
striking said golf ball with a golf club.
