TECHNICAL FIELDThe invention concerns in general the technical field of elevators. The invention concerns especially, however, not exclusively, providing maintenance to an elevator car.
BACKGROUNDIn elevators, especially in which more than one elevator car is operating in a same elevator shaft or hoistway, a defective car may obstruct the operation of the elevator completely, because the rest of the cars, if any, are unable to move past the defective car. The defective car may stop between landing floors and, therefore, entrapping passengers inside the car, for instance. To correct this situation, it has been suggested in earlier attempts to drive a manned recovery car next to the defective car. The recovery car is configured such that maintenance personnel can make required actions therefrom to repair the defective car or tow it away or to rescue the passengers.
The problem with the proposed earlier attempt is that it can take a long time for the maintenance personnel to get to the elevator, thus decreasing the availability and safety of the elevator operation. Thus, there is still a need to develop solutions for providing maintenance to an elevator car being halted in the elevator shaft.
SUMMARYAn objective of the present invention is to provide a movable maintenance robot system, a method for providing maintenance to an elevator car, and an elevator. Another objective of the present invention is that the robot system, the method, and the elevator can be utilized to provide maintenance to the elevator car without the presence of maintenance personnel in the elevator shaft.
