Description
BACKGROUND

The invention relates to a beam profile member for making a false wall with tensioned fabric.

In the conventional way, the beam profile members are fastened to the walls with screws or staples in the case of false walls with tensioned fabric. During securing, the beam profile members undergo a deformation induced by the pushing movement exerted during the screwing and stapling operation. In addition, the beam profile member may slip when it is positioned on the wall, making it difficult to install and fix the beam profile member.

The invention is intended to remedy these problems by providing a beam profile member to facilitate the positioning and securing thereof to a wall while avoiding the deformations induced during securing.

SUMMARY

To this end, and according to a first aspect, the invention proposes a beam profile member intended for being secured to a wall and arranged to allow the fastening of a tensioned fabric in order to produce a false wall, the beam profile member including a flange for securing to the wall having an inside face and an outside face, said beam profile member being remarkable in that the outside face of the securing flange is provided with at least one resiliently deformable zone arranged to absorb the deformation of the securing flange generated by the pushing force applied to the inside face of the securing flange during the operation to secure the beam profile member to the wall.

Due to the presence of at least one resiliently deformable zone provided on the securing flange and arranged to provide a bearing interface between the securing flange and the wall receiving the beam profile member, only the resiliently deformable zone deforms, thus absorbing the pushing forces applied during securing of the beam profile member to the wall. The resiliently deformable zone also acts as an anti-skid feature, making it easier to fit and secure the beam profile member.

Advantageously, the resiliently deformable zone is arranged to define an absorption line longitudinally extending on the outside of the securing flange.

In an advantageous configuration, the beam profile member has a central resiliently deformable zone extending over the whole or a part of the length of the outside face and two resiliently deformable zones arranged on either side of the central resiliently deformable zone, parallel thereto and in the vicinity of the end edges of the outside face.

Advantageously, the resiliently deformable zone consists of a tongue made of resiliently deformable synthetic material. According to a particular embodiment, the tongue is co-extruded with the securing flange.

Advantageously, the resiliently deformable zone is arranged to define an absorption line substantially parallel to at least one groove arranged longitudinally on the inside face of the securing flange, the groove constituting a guide groove for elements securing the beam profile member to the wall.

Advantageously, the outside face has a notching to help hold the beam profile member on the wall.

Advantageously, the inside face has tongues for securing a panel provided with grooves complementary to the tongues.

The invention also relates to a beam formed by at least one beam profile member as described above.

The invention also relates to a false wall comprising a beam formed of at least one such profile member and a fabric secured tensioned on the beam.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear in the following description, which refers to the appended drawings, wherein:

FIG. 1 shows a schematic sectional view of a beam profile member according to the invention;

FIG. 2 shows a view of a beam profile member of FIG. 1 provided with a panel;

For greater clarity, the same or similar elements of the different embodiments are marked by identical references on all the figures.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The beam profile member is described below according to the position shown in the figures.

The terms “vertical”, “horizontal”, “upper” and “lower” are therefore related to this position of use.

FIG. 1 shows a beam profile member 1 secured to a wall 2 and on which a tensioned fabric 20 is fastened. The beam profile member 1, alone or joined with similar profiles, is intended to make false walls, with the tensioned fabric. In the example shown, the wall 2 is a wall shell, but it is of course obvious that the beam profile member can be secured to a ceiling.

The beam profile member 1 has a vertical securing flange 3 arranged to enable said profile to be secured to the face 2 of the wall shell and a horizontal flange 4 arranged in line with the upper end of the securing flange 3. A web 9 extending substantially halfway up the securing flange 3 has, from the securing flange 3, a horizontal portion 90 extended by an upwardly directed portion 91 in the direction opposite the securing flange 3 which is itself extended by an end portion 92.

In addition, the beam profile member 1 has means forming a clamp for securing the fabric 20 to the beam profile member 1. The clamp means comprises a retaining lip 40 formed at the lower end of the horizontal flange 4 and arranged to co-operate with a notching 93 formed on the end portion 92 of the web 9.

The securing flange 3 is provided on the inside face 3A with longitudinal grooves which form guide grooves 6 for the securing elements (such as screws, staples or other known securing means) of the beam profile member 1 on the wall 2.

The securing flange 3 has, on its outside face 3B, support zones configured to absorb the deformation of the securing flange 3 generated by the pushing force applied on the inside face 3A of the securing flange 3 during the operation of securing the beam profile member 1 to the wall 2. These will be referred to as absorption zones 5.

Each absorption zone 5 is arranged to define an absorption line longitudinally extending on the outside face 3B of the securing flange 3.

In the example shown, the outside face 3B is provided with three absorption zones 5. In particular, the outside face 3B has a median absorption zone 5A extending over the whole or a part of the length of the outside face 3B and two absorption zones 5B, 5C arranged on either side of the median absorption zone 5A, parallel thereto and in the vicinity of the end edges of the outside face 3B.

Each absorption zone 5 consists of a tongue 50 made of resiliently deformable synthetic material. According to a particular configuration, the beam profile member 1 is made of extruded synthetic material, of the PVC type and the absorption zones 5 are made of soft PVC by co-extrusion.

Advantageously, the outside face 3B of the securing flange 3 has a notching 7. In this way, if the beam profile member 1 is glued to wall 2, the holding of the beam profile member 1 against the wall 2 is improved.

In the example shown, the beam profile member 1 has, on its inside face 3A, two projections 8 designed to cooperate with complementary grooves provided on a panel. The projections 8 are arranged so as to be inserted between the guide grooves 6. FIG. 2 shows the beam profile member 1 provided with a panel 10 provided with grooves 11 in which the projections 8 are embedded.

The invention is described above by way of example. It should be understood that the person skilled in the art is able to carry out different embodiments of the invention without departing from the scope of the invention.
