BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention (2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The disclosure and prior art relate to handbags and more particularly pertain to a new handbag for self-defense.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a purse that defines an interior space. A handle is coupled to a top proximate to a first end of the purse. A weight is coupled to the purse and positioned in the interior space. The weight is positioned proximate to a second end of the purse. The handle is configured to be grasped in a hand of a user, positioning the user to swing the purse to strike an assailant.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is an isometric perspective view of a weaponized handbag according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is an end view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new handbag embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the weaponized handbag 10 generally comprises a purse 12 that defines an interior space 14. The purse 12 is substantially rectangularly shaped. The purse 12 has a top 16, a first end 18, and a second end 20. The first end 18 is dimensionally shorter than the second end 20 so that the top 16 comprises a first section 22 and a second section 24. The first section 22 extends angularly from the first end 18 while the second section 24 extends from the first section 22 to the second end 20 so that the second section 24 is substantially parallel to a bottom 26 of the purse 12.

A handle 28 is coupled to a top 16 proximate to the first end 18 of the purse 12. The handle 28 comprises a plate 30 and a slot 32. The plate 30 is coupled to the first section 22 of the top 16. The slot 32 is positioned in the plate 30 so that the slot 32 is substantially parallel to the first section 22 of the top 16. The plate 30 is tapered so that an outer edge 34 of the plate 30 is substantially parallel to the first section 22 of the top 16. Opposing endpoints 36 of the outer edge 34 are arcuate.

A weight 38 is coupled to the purse 12 and positioned in the interior space 14. The weight 38 is positioned proximate to the second end 20 of the purse 12. The handle 28 is configured to be grasped in a hand of a user, positioning the user to swing the purse 12 to strike an assailant.

The handbag 10 provides a means for a person to defend his or her self, as may be required in certain situations. The handbag 10 may be utilized as an everyday accessory by men or women. Additionally, the handbag 10 is useful to business owners when transferring cash for deposit into a bank.

The weight 38 comprises metal. The weight 38 comprises steel. The weight 38 comprises stainless steel. The weight 38 is substantially spherically shaped. The weight 38 has a diameter 40 of from 1.2 to 4.0 centimeters. The weight 38 has a diameter 40 of from 2.0 to 3.0 centimeters. The weight 38 has a diameter 40 of 2.5 centimeters.

A sleeve 42 is coupled to the purse 12 and positioned in the interior space 14 proximate to the second end 20 and the bottom 26 of the purse 12, as shown in FIG. 5. The weight 38 is positioned in the sleeve 42. The sleeve 42 comprises as least one of nylon, poly-paraphenylene terephthalamide, and leather. The sleeve 42 serves to retain the weight 38 proximate to the second end 20 and the bottom 26 of the purse 12.

A slit 44 that is positioned in the top 16 of the purse 12 is configured to allow access the interior space 14. The slit 44 is positioned in the second section 24 of the top 16. A closure 46 that is coupled to the purse 12 proximate to the slit 44 is positioned to selectively close the slit 44. The closure 46 comprises a zipper 48 that is opened by motivating a slider 50 of the zipper 48 toward the second end 20 of the purse 12.

In another embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3, a loop ring 52 is hingedly coupled to the purse 12 proximate to the top 16. The loop ring 52 is configured to selectively couple to a wrist loop (not shown), positioning the user to insert a wrist into the wrist loop to couple the purse 12 to the user.

In yet another embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3, a pair of strap rings 54 is coupled singly to the purse 12 proximate to the first end 18 and the second end 20. Each strap ring 54 is configured to selectively couple to a respective opposing end of a waist strap (not shown) and a shoulder strap (not shown), positioning the user to selectively couple the purse 12 to a waist and a shoulder of the user.

In use, the handle 28, which can be used to carry the purse 12, also positions the user to swing the purse 12 to strike an assailant.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
