BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a drive device and, more particularly, to a drive device of an adjustable desk.

The adjustable desk can be raised and lowered to adjust the height of the desktop according to the needs, and it is becoming more and more popular, especially the children's adjustable desk, which can be adjustable the height of the desktop correspondingly as the child grows, so that the child can maintain a good sitting posture and a good reading distance at every growth stage.

However, the present adjustable table is limited to be driven in a manual or electric manner, and cannot be changed arbitrarily according to the needs of users.

In view of the above, a need exists for a novel drive device for an adjustable desk that mitigates and/or obviates the above drawbacks.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A drive device of an adjustable desk according to the present invention includes a drive shaft and a drive source. The drive shaft is detachably connected to an elevating device of the adjustable desk. The drive source is connected to the drive shaft and is configured to rotate the drive shaft to drive the elevating device.

In an example, the drive source is an electric motor.

In an example, the electric motor is arranged within a housing, and the drive shaft extends out of the housing to detachably connect to the elevating device.

In an example, two sides of the housing are respectively provided with a buckle portion detachably fastened to an adjustable length post of the adjustable desk.

In another example, the drive source includes a body and a handle. The drive shaft is detachably connected to a first side of the body. The handle is connected to a second side of the body and is adapted to be manually turned to rotate the drive shaft.

The present invention will become clearer in light of the following detailed description of illustrative embodiments of this invention described in connection with the drawings.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is an exploded, perspective view of a drive device of an adjustable desk of a first embodiment according to the present invention.

FIGS. 2 and 3 are cross-sectioned views of the drive device of FIG. 1.

FIG. 4 is an exploded, perspective view of a drive device of an adjustable desk of a second embodiment according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

FIGS. 1-3 show a drive device of an adjustable desk of an embodiment according to the present invention. The drive device 30 includes a drive shaft 31 and a drive source. The drive shaft 31 is detachably connected to an elevating device 20 of the adjustable desk. The drive source is connected to the drive shaft 31 and is configured to rotate the drive shaft 31 to drive the elevating device 20.

The adjustable desk mentioned in this embodiment may include an adjustable length post 10 and the elevating device 20. The adjustable length post 10 may include a supporting portion 11, a lifted portion 12 telescopically mounted to an upper end of the supporting portion 11, a support tube 13 arranged within the supporting portion 11, and a nut 14 fixed on a top of the support tube 13. The lifted portion 12 is connected with a desktop of the adjustable desk.

Further, the elevating device 20 may include a threaded rod 21, a first helical gear 22, and a second helical gear 23. The threaded rod 21 is threaded connected to the nut 14 of the adjustable length post 10. The first helical gear 22 is fixed on a top of the threaded rod 21. The second helical gear 23 is meshed with the first helical gear 22 and is detachably connected to the drive shaft 31 of the drive device 30. The first helical gear 22 can rotate along the first rotation axis, the second helical gear 23 can rotate along the second rotation axis, and the first rotation axis and the second rotation axis do not intersect with each other. The threaded rod 21 can be driven by the first helical gear 22 to move axially relative to the adjustable length post 10 along the first rotation axis. The helix angles of the first helical gear 22 and the second helical gear 23 are both 45 degrees.

In addition, The first helical gear 22 and the second helical gear 23 are arranged in a gear box 24, and the gear box 24 may be arranged in the lifted portion 12 in this embodiment. A first bearing 25 is provided between the first helical gear 22 and a bottom side of the gear box 24. The top of the threaded rod 21 inserts through the first bearing 25 and extends into the gear box 24 to be fixed with the first helical gear 22. Two second bearings 26 are provided between the second helical gear 23 and two side ends of the gear box 24. The drive shaft 31 of the drive device 30 can insert through the second bearing 26 and extend into the gear box 24 to connect with the second helical gear 23.

The aforementioned structure of the adjustable length post 10 and the elevating device 20 is only used to illustrate the function of the drive device 30 of the adjustable desk, and is not limited to the structure of the adjustable length post 10 and the elevating device 20 in this embodiment.

Furthermore, the drive source may be an electric motor 32 arranged within a housing 33 to provide a modular design, and the electric motor 32 can be driven by internal power supply or external power supply. The drive shaft 31 extends out of the housing 33 to detachably connect to the second helical gear 23 of the elevating device 20. Two sides of the housing 33 are respectively provided with a buckle portion 34 detachably fastened to the adjustable length post 10 of the adjustable desk for fixing the drive device 30.

FIG. 4 shows an exploded, perspective view of a drive device of an adjustable desk of a second embodiment according to the present invention. In this embodiment, the drive source includes a body 32a and a handle 33a. The drive shaft 31a is detachably connected to a first side of the body 32a, and the handle 33a is connected to a second side of the body 32a to be adapted to be manually turned to rotate the drive shaft 31a.

Thus, the drive shafts 31 and 31a can be detachably connected to the elevating device 20 so that the user can choose to drive the adjustable desk manually or electrically. For example, when the electric motor 32 is damaged or out of power, it can be manually driven by the handle 33a. Although specific embodiments have been illustrated and described, numerous modifications and variations are still possible without departing from the scope of the invention. The scope of the invention is limited by the accompanying claims.
