ADJUSTABLE DUMBBELL

An adjustable dumbbell includes a handle assembly and weight assemblies. The weight assemblies connect ends of the handle assembly. Each weight assembly includes an outer shell assembly, a counterweight element, and a locking assembly. The outer shell assembly includes a housing, the housing is connected to the handle assembly. A receiving cavity is defined in the housing. An opening communicated with the receiving cavity is defined at a side of the housing facing the handle assembly. The counterweight element is detachably received in the receiving cavity. The counterweight is fixed with the outer shell assembly by the locking element. The adjustable dumbbell of the disclosure hides the counterweight element, locking element, and two ends of the handle assembly in the outer shell element, prevents the counterweight element from shaking and making abnormal noise due to collision, and raising appearance beauty of the adjustable dumbbell.

Description

The subject matter herein relates to technical field of fitness equipment, especially relates to an adjustable dumbbell.

BACKGROUND

Dumbbell is a piece of sports equipment that is popular with most fitness experts. Weight of the dumbbell can be adjusted by changing counterweights of the dumbbell with different sizes. In the existing dumbbell, a handle of the dumbbell is connected with counterweights, and the counterweights are exposed outside. The exposed counterweights are prone to bump and shake, resulting in abnormal noise when the dumbbell is used, and the exposed counterweight makes the dumbbell unattractive.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

In order to make the above-mentioned objects, features, and advantages of the present disclosure more obvious, specific embodiments of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. The present disclosure can be implemented in ways different from those described herein, and those skilled in the art can make similar improvements without violating the contents of the present disclosure. Therefore, the present disclosure is not to be considered as limiting the scope of the embodiments to those described herein.

Several definitions that apply throughout this disclosure will now be presented.

Unless otherwise defined, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one skilled in the art. The terms used in the present disclosure herein are only for describing specific embodiments, and are not intended to limit the present disclosure.

FIG. 1 is a schematic drawing of an adjustable dumbbell. FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the adjustable dumbbell of FIG. 1 in II-II direction. FIG. 3 is an explosion view of parts of the adjustable dumbbell in FIG. 2. Since some elements in the figures overlap and block, embodiments are explained in combination with FIG. 1, FIG. 2, and FIG. 3.

An adjustable dumbbell 1 includes a handle assembly 19 and two weight assemblies 11. The two weight assemblies 11 are symmetrically connected at two ends of the handle assembly 19. Each weight assembly 11 includes an outer shell assembly 12, a counterweight element 17, and a locking assembly 18. The outer shell assembly 12 includes a housing 13, the housing 13 is connected to the handle assembly 19. A receiving cavity 13 is defined in the housing 13. An opening 132 is defined at a side of the housing 13 facing the handle assembly 19. The opening 132 is communicated with the receiving cavity 131. The counterweight element 17 is detachably received in the receiving cavity 131. The locking element 18 is connected to the housing 13, and the counterweight element 17 is fixed with the outer shell assembly 12 by the locking element 18.

The counterweight element 17 and the locking element 18 are arranged in the receiving cavity 131, and the locking element 18 fixes the counterweight element 17 in the outer shell assembly 12, thus solving the problem of exposed counterweight element 17 and locking element 18. The opening 132 of the receiving cavity 131 faces the handle assembly 19, so that the outer shell assembly 12 can realize the visual shielding of the counterweight element 17 and the locking element 18, thus improving the appearance beauty of the adjustable dumbbell 1.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, at least one connecting hole 133 is defined on the housing 13. At least one first through hole 171 is defined on the counterweight element 17. The first through hole 171 is corresponded to the connecting hole 133. The locking element 18 penetrates the connecting hole 133 and the first through hole 171 and locks with the housing 13, so that the counterweight element 17 is fixed in the housing 13.

Furthermore, inner surface of the connecting hole 133 is defined with internal threads, outer surface of the locking element 18 is defined with outer threads. The locking element 18 is threaded with the connecting hole 133.

The locking element 18 and the housing 13 restrict freedom of the counterweight element 17 in an axis direction of the handle assembly 19, solves the shaking problem of the counterweight element 17 in the axis direction of the handle assembly 19, to achieve the effect of preventing shaking and abnormal noise.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, the housing 13, counterweight element 17, and the handle assembly 19 are positioned co-axial. Two connecting holes 133 are defined at a diagonal position of the housing 13, and two first through holes 171 corresponding to the two connecting holes 133 are defined at a diagonal position of the counterweight element 17.

By setting two connecting holes 133 at the diagonal position of the housing 13, it is beneficial to balance the locking force borne by the counterweight element 17. Two sides of the counterweight element 17 are uniformly subject to the locking force of the locking element 18, so that the counterweight element 17 is more evenly fixed in the holding cavity 131. Two connecting holes 133 are also set to limit rotational freedom of the counterweight element 17, so that the counterweight element 17 cannot rotate in the housing 13, so as to achieve the effect of preventing shaking and abnormal noise.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, the counterweight element 17 includes several weight pieces 172. The several weight pieces 172 are stacked and detachably received in the receiving cavity 131. The first through hole 171 penetrates the several weight pieces 172, so that the locking element 18 can lock the several weight pieces 172 together.

Furthermore, the weight pieces 172 are in sheet structure. Each piece of the weight pieces 172 has the same shape and weight. Weight of the counterweight element 17 in the housing 13 can be adjusted by changing number of the weight pieces 172.

By setting multiple weight pieces 172, the weight of the counterweight element 17 is distributed among multiple weight pieces 172. Each counterweight block 172 has a smaller volume, and the weight pieces 172 are detachably placed in the receiving cavity 131, which can flexibly adjust the number of weight pieces 172 in the receiving cavity 131 and better hide the weight pieces 172 in the receiving cavity 131.

In other embodiment of the disclosure, each of weigh pieces 172 can have same shape and can be made by different material, so that weight of each weight pieces 172 may be different. Selecting weight pieces 172 of different materials can increase the counterweight range of weight pieces 172. Users can select weight pieces 172 with high material density according to their own usage habits, so that the adjustable dumbbell 1 can have greater mass; or select the weight pieces 172 with small material density to make the adjustable dumbbell 1 have a light weight.

A second through hole 134 is defined on the housing 13, and an axis of the second through hole 134 is coaxial with the axis of the handle assembly 19. Two ends of the handle assembly 19 are respectively positioned in two second through holes 134 of two housing 13. The handle assembly 19 is connected with the housing 13 by the second through hole 134.

The handle assembly 19 includes a central handle 191, connecting portions 192, and nuts 193. Two connecting portions 192 are respectively arranged at two ends of the central handle 191, and the diameter of the connecting portion 192 is smaller than the diameter of the central handle 191. Each connecting portion 192 is provided with a thread and a smooth surface. The thread is arranged on a radial surface of an end of the connecting portion 192 away from the central handle 191, and the smooth surface is arranged on the radial surface of an end of the connecting portion 192 near the central handle 191. The housing 13 is sleeved on the connecting portion 192. The smooth surface of the connecting portion 192 is fitted with the second through hole 134, and the thread of the connecting portion 192 is threaded with the nut 193. The nut 193 abuts against the housing 13 to the end of the central handle 191, so that the housing 13 is locked between the nut 193 and the central handle 191, the handle assembly 19 is fixedly connected with the housing 13. The connecting portions 192 at both ends of the handle assembly 19 are arranged in the second through-hole 134, so that the connecting portion 192 can be hidden in the housing 13. The second through hole 134 not only plays the role of fixed connection, but also plays the role of covering the connecting portion 192, so as to improve the appearance beauty of the adjustable dumbbell 1.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, the outer shell assembly 12 further includes a first cover 14. The first cover 14 is positioned at the opening 132. A third through hole 141 is defined on the first cover 14. The connecting portion 192 of the handle assembly 19 penetrates the third through hole 141. The end of the central handle 191 abuts against the first cover 14 to fix the first cover 14 and the housing 13.

The outer cover 14 can cover the opening 132 to hide the counterweight element 17 and the locking element 18 in the outer shell assembly 12, and the problem of exposed parts of the outer shell assembly 12 facing the handheld assembly 19 can be solved, improving appearance beauty of the adjustable dumbbell 1.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, the outer shell assembly 12 further includes an elastic ring 15 and a second cover 16. The elastic ring 15 is sleeved on a first surface 135 of the housing 13. The second cover 16 is positioned at a second surface 136 of the housing 13. The first surface 135 is a surface of the housing 13 parallel to the axis of the handle assembly 19, and the second surface 136 is an outer surface of the housing 13 perpendicular to the axis of the handle assembly 19. The first cover 14 and the second cover 15 are respectively fixed at two ends of the elastic ring 15, and the housing 13 is cover by the first cover 14 and the second cover 15.

The elastic ring 15 is set on the first surface 135 to play a buffering role, prevent the counterweight element 17 from loosening due to the collision of the outer shell assembly 12, to achieve the effect of preventing the counterweight element 17 from shaking and abnormal sound. The second cover 16 is set on the second surface 136 of the outer shell assembly 12 to play the role of beauty and shielding. The second cover 16 covers the connecting hole 133 and the second through hole 134, so that ends of the handheld assembly 19 can be covered by the second cover 16 to improve the appearance beauty of the adjustable dumbbell 1.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, the elastic ring 15 is made of rubber material, and thickness of the elastic ring 15 is greater than the first cover 14 or the second cover 16. A surface of the second cover 16 facing the outside can be printed with patterns. The elastic ring 15 and the second cover 16 are arranged on the outer surface of the outer shell assembly 12. The outer surface of the outer shell assembly 12 is both the appearance surface and the contact surface. The adjustable dumbbell 1 is easy to touch other objects on the outer surface during use, the elastic ring 15 can play the role of elastic buffer.

In an embodiment, the housing 13 includes a clamping portion 137, the clamping portion 137 is positioned on the first surface 135 of the housing 13. A clamping groove 151 is defined on an inner side of the elastic ring 15. The clamping portion 137 is positioned in the clamping groove 151, so that the elastic ring 15 is fixedly connected with the housing 13 through the clamping portion 137, preventing the elastic ring 15 from falling off due to collision during use, and solving the problem of the elastic ring 15 loosening and shaking after using a long time.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, the clamping portion 137 is arranged around the outer circumference of the housing 13, and the inner circumference of the elastic ring 15 is correspondingly provided with the clamping groove 151. The clamping portion 137 is fixedly positioned in the clamping groove 151. The head of the clamping portion 137 is provided with a reverse buckle structure, which forms an interference fit between the head of the clamping portion 137 and the clamping groove 151 to fix the elastic ring 15 and the housing 13 firmly.

Compared with the prior art, the adjustable dumbbell 1 in the present disclosure hides the counterweight element 17, locking element 18, and two ends of the handle assembly 19 in the outer shell element 12, prevents the counterweight element 17 from shaking and making abnormal noise due to collision, and raising appearance beauty of the adjustable dumbbell 1.

Even though information and advantages of the present embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structures and functions of the present embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of portions within the principles of the present embodiments to the full extent indicated by the plain meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.

Claims

1. A adjustable dumbbell comprising:

a handle assembly;
weight assemblies connected to the handle assembly; wherein each of the weight assemblies comprise:
an outer shell assembly comprising a housing, wherein the housing is connected to the handle assembly, a receiving groove is defined in the housing, an opening is defined at a side of the housing facing the handle assembly, the opening is communicated with the receiving cavity; the receiving cavity is configured to receive a counterweight element; and
a locking element, the locking element is connected to the housing, and the locking element fixes the counterweight element to the outer shell assembly.

2. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 1, wherein at least one connecting hole is defined on the housing, at least one first through hole is defined on the counterweight element, the at least one first through hole is correspondingly positioned relative to the at least one connecting hole, the locking element penetrates the connecting hole and the first through hole and locks with the housing.

3. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 2, wherein the housing, counterweight element, and the handle assembly are positioned co-axial, two connecting holes are defined at a diagonal position of the housing, and two of the at least one first through holes which correspond to two of the at least one connecting holes are defined at a diagonal position of the counterweight element.

4. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 2, wherein the locking element is threaded with the connecting hole.

5. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 2, wherein the counterweight element comprises several weight pieces, the several weight pieces are stacked and detachably received in the receiving cavity, the first through hole penetrates the several weight pieces.

6. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 5, wherein each of the several weight pieces has a sheet structure.

7. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 6, wherein each of the weight pieces has same shape.

8. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 1, wherein two of the weight assemblies are symmetrically connected at two ends of the handle assembly.

9. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 1, wherein a second through hole is defined on the housing, and an axis of the second through hole is coaxial with an axis of the handle assembly, the handle assembly is connected with the housing by the second through hole.

10. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 9, wherein handle assembly comprise a central handle, two connecting portions, and two nuts, the two connecting portions are respectively arranged at two ends of the central handle, a diameter of the connecting portion is smaller than a diameter of the central handle, each of the connecting portions penetrates a corresponding one of the second through holes, each of the two nuts abuts against the housing and connects to a corresponding one of the two connecting portions.

11. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 10, wherein each of the connecting portions is provided with a thread and a smooth surface, the thread is arranged on a radial surface of an end of the connecting portion away from the central handle, the smooth surface is arranged on the radial surface of an end of the connecting portion near the central handle, the housing is sleeved on the connecting portion, the smooth surface of the connecting portion is fitted with the second through hole, and the thread of the connecting portion is threaded with the nut.

12. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 1, wherein the outer shell assembly comprises:

a first cover positioned at the opening of the housing, a third through hole defined on the first cover, wherein the handle assembly penetrates the third through hole to connect the housing and to fix the first cover to the housing.

13. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 1, wherein the outer shell assembly comprise:

an elastic ring sleeved on a first surface of the housing, the first surface is a surface of the housing parallel to an axis of the handle assembly;
a second cover positioned at a second surface of the housing, the second surface is an outer surface of the housing perpendicular to the axis of the handle assembly.

14. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 13, wherein the housing comprises a clamping portion, the clamping portion is positioned on the first surface of the housing, a clamping groove is defined on an inner side of the elastic ring, the clamping portion is positioned in the clamping groove to fix the elastic ring and the housing.

15. The adjustable dumbbell of claim 14, wherein a head of the clamping portion is provided with a reverse buckle structure, the reverse buckle structure forms an interference fit between the head of the clamping portion and the clamping groove.
