- Commonly available for sale prior to the applicant's invention were ice scrapers madeof solid pieces of plastic or metal and having a scraping edge. Additionally, commercially available spray de-icers were available either with an aerosol can or plastic bottom. These items have been available in various retail stores such as Sears, K-Mart and others.
