  • Patent number: 4043044
Abstract: Presently available transducer systems provide analog electrical outputs portional to the linear displacement of an active element from the surface being measured. However, use requires that all or part of the surface be conductive. The present cartridge permits use of these transducers on any surface, conductive or not. It includes a tubular casing receiving both an active element portion of the transducer and a plunger formed of a conductive material. The plunger is reciprocally mounted with a compression spring normally urging it outwardly so that its tip end can contact and follow the surface to be measured. A set screw arrangement limits the plunger reciprocation. The length of the received portion of the transducer is precisely adjustable so that its active element can be disposed a precise spaced distance from the plunger when it is spring-pressed to its limit. As the plunger tip rides the surface being sensed its inward motion is limited by contact with the transducer end wall.

  • Patent number: 4043072
Abstract: A fish and lure retriever having a hollow slotted core with a rotatable sleeve partially surrounding the core. A plurality of outwardly extending pointed prongs are located at the rear end of the core and an auxiliary line is attached to the retriever. The retriever is attached to the fishing line by rotating the sleeve to uncover the core slot. The sleeve is then rotated to cover the slot and the retriever is moved down the fishing line. In use, the prongs first pass over a part of the tackle, such as a swivel, and when the auxiliary line is pulled back they catch the swivel so that the tackle and/or fish can be pulled up by the auxiliary line.

  • Patent number: 4043074
Abstract: A fishing rod is provided which has a hollow tapered rod body of generally circular exterior cross-section which tapers from a large diameter handle end to a small diameter tip end, and a hollow interior extending along the rod axis which tapers in the same direction as the exterior of the rod. The rod body is constituted by laminations of a plurality of plies of fiber reinforced resin in which the fibers in each ply are parallel to one another, these plies including at least one inner ply having its fibers oriented at an angle of at least 30.degree. to the axis of the rod, and a plurality of outer plies having their fibers generally parallel to the axis of the rod. The outer plies at the large diameter end of the rod have their fibers disposed at a progressively increasing angle to the axis of the rod as they approach the rod exterior, and this distributes the load to maximize the flexing strength of a rod of minimum weight.

  • Patent number: 4043076
Abstract: An object (baton, ball, wheel, or the like) which generates a signal (visual, audio, or the like) only when in rotation and when in rotation generates a continuous signal. A power source, a first switch which assumes its ON position in response to centrifugal force, a second switch which assumes its ON position in response to centrifugal force, and means for generating a signal, connected in series are carried in the object. The first and second switches are mounted so that both are ON when the object is in rotation about a first axis, but not when it is at rest. Third and fourth switches may be placed to be ON when the object is in rotation about second and third axes at right angles to said first axis and to each other. The switches may be closed by movement of a fluid or of sliding or rolling elements.
