Patent number: 4193182Abstract: The specification describes a new and improved Schottky-gate field-effect transistor (FET) and process for fabricating same wherein selective and multiple ion implanatation doping steps are used to form source, drain and channel regions in a semiconductor body. The semiconductor body is then selectively etched to expose the source and drain regions previously formed, while leaving intact a mesa-shaped, high resistivity stabilizing region of the semiconductor body overlying and electrically stabilizing the ion-implanted channel region. The semiconductor body is then partially passivated with a chosen dielectric layer having two openings therein for exposing source and drain regions, respectively, and a third opening which is aligned with the channel region. Ohmic contacts are deposited in the source and drain openings, and thereafter a V-shaped groove is etched in the mesa-shaped region overlying the channel region to expose a very small area of the channel region.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1978Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Assignee: Hughes Aircraft CompanyInventor: Don H. Patent number: 4193183Abstract: A process for constructing self-aligned electrodes overlying a surface of a semiconductor substrate is disclosed. The process utilizes a substrate which is substantially transparent to infrared radiation. One step of the process includes forming spaced apart ones of the electrodes with a conductive material that is highly absorbtive of infrared radiation. Subsequently, a continuous layer of heat sensitive polymer is formed over and between these spaced apart electrodes. The resulting structure is exposed to infrared radiation which heats the spaced apart electrodes. This heat polymerizes the heat sensitive polymer layer in all regions that directly overlie the spaced apart electrodes. These polymerized regions form a mask that is used to construct other electrodes between and in alignment with the spaced apart electrodes.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1978Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Assignee: National Semiconductor CorporationInventor: Thomas Klein

Patent number: 4193208Abstract: The rotatable dryer drum in a dehydrator for crop material is provided with a plurality of centrally disposed flighting panels for escalating turbulence in the material-entraining heated airflow passing through the drum as well as to increase the available heat transfer area, thereby significantly improving the efficiency of the dehydrator. The panels are supported in offset, thermally isolated relation to the sidewall of the drum by a series of elongate struts spaced along the length of the drum and extending between the sidewall and the panels such that the flighting resists thermal warpage and requires only a minimum amount of welding for installation. In preferred forms there is provided a dropout chamber adjacent the drum outlet for collecting material separated from the airflow, the chamber having a mechanical conveyor for bulk discharge of the collected material.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1977Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Assignee: Ronning Engineering Company, Inc.Inventor: Richard L. Patent number: 4193209Abstract: A mechanical device for assisting in the application of fingernail polish or enamel, and subsequent drying, makes use of a housing containing an electrically operated fan which moves an air stream upwardly through the housing and out the top. A bracket serving as a hand rest and finger support having a specially constructed attachment to the housing is movable to a position above the air stream where its attachment releasably retains the bracket in finger supporting position and in the air stream. The specially constructed attachment is such that when the bracket is thus positioned an extension of it on opposite sides, protruding beyond the housing, elevates the housing above a supporting surface on which it may rest to assure an abundant supply of air to the fan. When not needed as a hand rest in finger supporting position, the bracket pivots to an endwise location where it can serve as a carrying handle.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1978Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Inventors: Paula J. Patent number: 4193210Abstract: An automatic memory-trainer presenting problems to a trainee in a sequence controlled by the trainee's success in answering correctly. The sequence adapts itself to concentrate practice on those facts with which the trainee is having greater difficulty. Repetitive practice is such that difficult problems are interspersed with easier ones in a manner planned to continually test and expand the trainee's ability to recall the difficult facts.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1978Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Inventor: Peter Turnquist

Patent number: 4193211Abstract: A terrain model board and method of construction for use with the closed circuit television display system of a vehicle simulator is disclosed. According to this invention a multiplicity of panels containing the detail of a simulated terrain are joined together in a manner which allows quick and easy disassembly of one or all of the panels. A packing strip having a cord secured to its top surface is inserted into the spaces between adjoining panels prior to filling the spaces or seams with an elastic and adhesive seam filling compound. Thus, one or more of the panels can easily be removed for repair or replacement by simply gripping the string and pulling it up and along the seam thereby cutting through the adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1978Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Assignee: The Singer CompanyInventor: Martin Dotsko
