  • Patent number: 4261118
Abstract: An excavation digging tooth locking device is disclosed for frictionally maintaining a digging tooth in a female reception pocket in matingly wedged relation. The locking device is a sliced section of an extruded member compressively wedged into and filling a varying dimensioned gap between the tooth and the pocket. The locking device has a tubular portion with a slit across its longitudinal dimension and a pair of divergent wing portions extending from the opposing faces of the slit. The wing portions have tapered distal ends of reduced cross section. The interface of the wing portions and the tubular portion have enlarged cross sections. The inner perimeter of the tubular portion engages a reduced end bight section of the inner tooth wedge portion, the opposing faces of the slit engage the deepest sections of recessed detents adjacent the bight section, and the wing portions engage the tapering shallower sections of the detents.

  • Patent number: 4261124
Abstract: A frame for display and rapid removal of record album covers and the like if formed from flexible plastic material in the shape of a square planar base with a perimetric lip at the outer boarder, and inwardly extending keeper tab at the top of each lip on a portion of the lip that is separated from the remainder of the lip by a pair of grooves extending for the height of the lip above the base. At the bottom of the severed lip portion, a finger is cut from the base but remains integrally joined to the lip at its outer edge, with the severance approaching the outer edge of the base at positions offset from the grooves in the lip so that a pivot area exits between the severances and grooves to lift the finger as the keeper tab is moved outwardly, in turn flexing the lip. Four identical side pieces may be assembled to form the frame by means of interlocking dovetail joints and corner braces, and the frame is preferably attached to a common wall by an adhesive backing.

  • Patent number: 4261159
Abstract: An apparatus for transporting bags from a first station to a second station and for inserting the bags into boxes at the second station comprises a reciprocating frame, a first conveyor belt movable towards the second station, a gripper for picking up a bag at the first station and releasing it to lie on the first conveyor belt, and a second conveyor belt underlying the first conveyor belt and receiving the bag released by the first conveyor belt to carry it to the second station. A pusher assists and completes the action of the second conveyor belt in inserting the bag deposited thereon into one of the boxes positioned at the second station.

  • Patent number: 4261161
Abstract: The invention provides a crop harvesting machine comprising crop processing means, feeder means including feed rolls for feeding crop material to the processing means, drive means operable to drive the crop processing means, further drive means operable to drive the feeder means and detector means operable to detect foreign objects in the crop material in use handled by the machine before they reach the crop processing means, the further drive means comprising a drive reversing mechanism and a belt drive transmission with a belt drive engaging mechanism which is movable between an inoperative position and a drive-engaging position, and the detector means being operable upon detection of an undesirable object to initiate instantaneous arrest of the feed rolls and to move the belt drive engaging mechanism from its drive-engaging position to its inoperative position.

  • Patent number: 4261162
Abstract: A cutting blade for agricultural equipment defined by a truncated diamond configuration in plan view, where the cutting blade is made from a high strength plastic material, and where the leading or cutting edges thereof are beveled in a downward and outward direction. In an alternative embodiment, the cutting blade is in a "double diamond" shape, i.e. similar to two truncated diamond shapes at a right angle to each other. In any event, with either invention form, the cutting blade is reversible for extended use.The invention affords particular adaptability to what is presently and commercially known as home trimming and/or edging equipment; however, more far-reaching end purposes are achieved as, for example, the effective cutting of heavy grass, brush and scrub trees because of the unique shape and the material of each cutting blade per se.

  • Patent number: 4261163
Abstract: An apparatus for harvesting produce such as tomatoes and the like growing on plastic mulch covered beds without damage to the plastic mulch or to the fruits, and a method for such harvesting. A narrow reciprocating cutter is moved along the line of plants a short distance above the surface of the plastic film and maintained at the selected height by an automatic height control. A lifting device lifts pendant plant foliage and fruit clear of the plastic mulch surface and above the cutter. After cutting of the stem, a plant is engaged by a conveyor that carries it to the rear of the apparatus. A reel having flexible paddles urges the plants onto the conveyor. The plastic mulch and associated irrigation tubing is not disturbed and other crops may be planted without replacement of the plastic. The apparatus may be pulled and powered from a high clearance tractor in which instance the plants are redeposited on the bed surface for wilting.

  • Patent number: 4261164
Abstract: In a double twist spindle device wherein the support of the supply bobbin is retained against rotation on the spindle proper by two rows of permanent magnets disposed opposite each other each side of the radial passage of the yarn issuing from the axial bore of the spindle, one of the said rows is mounted in such manner as to be displaceable through a limited extent with respect to its supporting member. If the frictional torque between the spindle and the bobbin support temporarily reaches such an excessive value that the relative angular displacement of the rows becomes equal to the pitch of the successive magnets in both rows, the repulsive magnetic forces displace the said displaceable row in such manner that the undesirable accelerating effect of the magnetic forces on the bobbin support is eliminated or at least strongly decreased and that the rows may again find a new state of equilibrium when the excessive frictional torque disappears.

  • Patent number: 4261165
Abstract: The shaft on which the rotor is secured is mounted via anti-friction bearings in a sleeve which, in turn, is spaced from the housing by spacer means of low heat conductivity. In addition, at least one heat-conducting means of high heat conductivity connects the sleeve to the housing in heat conductive relation. The heat generated during rotation of the rotor shaft is dissipated through the heat conducting means to allow increased rotational speeds, for example, up to 55,000 rpm.

  • Patent number: 4261166
Abstract: A process for operating a combined gas turbine/steam turbine power plant having an integrated partial fuel-combustion process is disclosed wherein a portion of a supply of compressed air is fed to a combustion reactor in which a fuel is gasified. The gasified fuel is combusted to drive a gas turbine with the discharge from the gas turbine heating a waste heat steam generator. Steam is generated in a boiler heated by the gasified fuel and drives a steam turbine. The steam is saturated in the boiler and is dried and heated in a heat exchanger arranged downstream of the boiler and upstream of the waste heat steam generator. The heat exchanger is heated by the portion of the compressed air with the air further compressed immediately downstream of the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4261167
Abstract: A process for the efficient production of power from non-gaseous carbonaceous fuels, such as coal, or heavy fuel oil, in a steam power plant in which the carbonaceous fuel is first gasified at relatively high pressure and temperature by partial oxidation with oxygen to produce a fuel gas, the fuel gas from the partial oxidation reaction is expanded to a lower pressure in a turbine. Undesirable compounds, e.g., sulfur compounds, are removed from the fuel gas, and the fuel gas supplied to a steam boiler for the production of power. The process of this invention provides an effective means for conversion of gas-fired steam generation facilities to coal or heavy fuel oil while at the same time increasing the power generating capacity of the installation, all with minimal atmospheric pollution. The process is effective for the conversion of other types of gas-fired heaters and boilers to coal or heavy fuel oil.
