The mixer also includes temperature sensing means for sensing the temperature within the bowl and control means responsive to the temperature sensing means for controlling the flow of cooling fluid through the cooled portions of the mixer.

  • Patent number: 4275570
Abstract: In a large refrigeration system comprising a screw compressor of controllably variable output, compressor lubricating oil, discharged from the compressor in a mixture with compressed refrigerant, is separated from the refrigerant at an oil separator from which it is returned to the compressor. Compressed refrigerant flows from the separator, through a condenser, to a high pressure receiver, where it is held for circulation through an evaporator and thence back to the compressor.Through a bypass conduit in which a small liquid refrigerant pump is connected, condensed refrigerant from the receiver is delivered to a duct communicating the compressor discharge outlet with the oil separator inlet, to cool the oil-refrigerant mixture before it enters the separator. A thermostat senses temperature of that mixture near the separator inlet and so controls a throttling valve in the bypass conduit as to maintain that temperature substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 4275572
Abstract: A system for transmitting torque to a driven member from a drive shaft extending axially throughout the driven member which is itself of a tubular shape. The drive shaft is of a circular cylindrical configuration and at least one resilient spherical drive element is used to transmit torque between the drive shaft and the driven tubular member. The diameter of the resilient member is somewhat greater than the distance between the opposed surfaces of the drive shaft and the driven tubular member. A means is included on either or both the drive shaft and tubular member to retain the resilient member in a substantially fixed orbiting path and to retain it against longitudinal movement along the surfaces of the drive shaft and the driven tubular member.

  • Patent number: 4275573
Abstract: An automatic needle selection mechanism for a knitting machine, comprising one electromagnet for each of needle selectors, and a movable mounting plate for the electromagnets, arranged facing a selector bed. Each mounting plate with the electromagnetic is brought adjacent to its corresponding selector when the selector is in its first position where it is engaged to the movement of the selector bed. The mounting plate is first approached to the selector bed, and then the electromagnet is selectively energized. Then, the mounting plate is moved away from the selector bed. The selector which corresponds to the electromagnet energized is moved from the first position to the second position where it is disengaged from the selector bed, subsequent movement of the selector bed in the longitudinal direction of the selector thereby actuating the selected one of the needles in order to form a desired knitting pattern.

Abstract: A stop mechanism for knitting machines of the Rachel type comprising a reed with an upper flange fitted with a strengthening section projecting from and along a whole edge for guiding a thread. A contact which is fixed for threads not forming a nap, and is movable and cylindrical for threads produces a nap. The reed has small plates and blade components between these plates. The blade components are bent to form a groove for guiding the thread. Each blade component has two circular holes and one elongated hole and the built-in tendency for toppling over onto this contact. The blade components and small plates are connected by two spindles. The contact may have a chordal flat for increasing its contact area and is attached to an electrical conductor at one of its extreme ends and can be moved along a semicircular path by a crank. A metal spindle attached to an electrical wire passes through the circular hole innermost on the blade component.

  • Patent number: 4275577
Abstract: A lock arrangement is provided which may be actuated by two different keys. A master key may be used to lock and unlock the device. A subordinate key may be used to lock the device only. The lock is of the pin-tumbler type in which the lock's rotatable core plug includes a shallow, longitudinal step groove cut into the top of the core plug. The subordinate key is identical to the master key except that one or more of the subordinate key's bittings is cut deeper than the corresponding groove or grooves on the master key, the additional depth corresponding to the depth of the step. When the master key is inserted in the keyway in the core plug, the pin tumblers are raised in the normal fashion so that the tops of the pins are even with the shear line between the core plug and the cylinder. The core plug may then be rotated in either direction.
