  • Patent number: 4365373
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of dyeing and fixing knitted socks, stockings, panty hose or similar knitted articles of clothing of highly elastic material, preferably synthetic fibers. In this method, the articles of clothing are pulled onto flat forms and pass in succession through stations for dyeing, fixing and drying, as well as possibly preforming, rinsing and/or after-forming. In order to prevent deformations resulting from loads exerted on the knitted fabric, the articles of clothing travel, while lying approximately horizontal, through the individual treatment stations with their fibers extending in the longitudinal direction of the article of clothing. In the apparatus for the carrying out of the process, which has a plurality of flat forms onto which the articles of clothing to be treated are pulled and which, between a pulling-on and pulling-off station, are movable by a transportation device through the treatment stations, the card-shaped forms are inclined at most by an angle of 25.degree.

For installing non-cylindrical sleeves on cylindrical substrates, a die is mounted to the base at a position to receive the sleeve as it is stripped from a finger.

  • Patent number: 4365401
Abstract: A hydraulic rivet tool having a pair of opposing supports on a frame one of which holds an anvil and the other supporting a hydraulic cylinder. A hollow sleeve is extensible from the cylinder and carries a guide to clamp the workpiece. Contained within the sleeve for relative movement therewith is a dual purpose piston carrying a rivet engaging member. A spring is interconnected between the sleeve and the piston to restrict their relative motion until the sleeve guide has clamped the workpiece. Hydraulic fluid under pressure delivered to the cylinder first causes the piston and sleeve to extend from the hydraulic cylinder and causes the sleeve to clamp the workpiece. The piston then, overcoming the spring restricting the relative motion between it and the sleeve, continues its movement to perform work on the rivet.

  • Patent number: 4365402
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for making threaded joints, such as pipe joints, within a range of predetermined applied torque and turns values. A pipe or a pipe and a coupling are threaded onto the end of a pipe string. The applied torque is monitored and, when a reference torque value is exceeded, the number of turns are counted. When either the actual torque or the actual turns exceeds a predetermined minimum value for that parameter and the value of the other parameter exceeds a predetermined minimum value, but is less than a predetermined maximum value, a good joint is indicated and the make-up is stopped. A bad joint is predicted and make-up is stopped when the value of the actual torque divided by the actual turns falls outside a range of values defined by the slopes of a pair of boundary lines and predetermined minimum torque and minimum turn values.

Abstract: A pair of slide fastener stringers are intermittently fed in a pair of longitudinal paths, respectively, in parallel planes with respective rows of coupling elements being directed in one direction. The slide fastener stringers are laterally shifted toward each other off their paths by coupler members as the latter are combined together. A presser is moved into coaction with the combined coupler members to define a generally Y-shaped coupling channel in which the rows of coupling elements are forced into confronting relation. The rows of coupling elements can be interengaged when they move through the coupling channel.
