  • Patent number: RE31536
Abstract: This invention relates to a metal clad window product. The window frame and sash are basically made of milled, elongated wooden members with suitable interconnecting parts, such as mortises and tenons, at the ends of the same. A metal cladding member is attached to each elongated member before assembly of the window parts. The metal cladding member has flanges formed integral therewith which fit into rabbets in the sides of the elongated wooden members forming the frame and sash parts to secure the cladding to the part. The cladding includes an extension at one edge thereof which forms with suitable stop members in the assembled sash, a mounting for a glazing panel assembly. In the case of the window frame, the extension forms the mounting of the weather seal for sealing the sash to the window frame.

  • Patent number: 4435869
Abstract: Provision is made for enabling the support for the lasting rolls and/or adhesive applying nozzles to be moved initially either into a position in which the instrumentalities are aligned with the longitudinal center line of the machine or alternatively are offset therefrom, selectively according to the contour of the shoe bottom. Further, the support is moved from its initially selected position to the other position during the machine cycle, thereby, in the case of the lasting rolls, varying their position during the machine cycle according to the shoe bottom shape. In the case of the nozzles, on the other hand, once they have engaged the shoe bottom, they are released from any constraint of their widthwise movement and are thus free to follow the shoe bottom edge contour, regardless of the position of the support.

Abstract: Improvements in a multi-capability projectile having a heavy primary penetration element surrounded by a splintering and fragmenting secondary penetration element which extends forwardly of the primary penetration element to form a cavity having a bursting charge therein, the projectile having a nose portion forwardly of that cavity with an ignition charge therein. The rear of the secondary penetration element is stepped inwardly to form a smaller recess which receives and holds the rear end of the primary penetration element. A shoulder adjacent this smaller rearward portion can be formed in accordance with an improved method with an annular groove, according to which the portion of that shoulder radially inwardly of the groove is urged against the side of the primary penetration element to form a rimmed part which secures the same. The annular space surrounding the forward end of the primary penetration element can be filled with an incendiary charge, the bursting charge being located forwardly thereof.

  • Patent number: 4435889
Abstract: A process and apparatus for forming a cage part, for a ball bearing, wherein the cage parts are annular with alternate flat portions and ball receiving recesses. The cage parts are formed by pressing the rings from cage material such as steel. The flat portions are formed with axially extending rivet pins or holes for receiving the rivet pins of another cage part, in order to enable fastening of the cage parts together. The rivet pins are formed by pressing operation at the time as forming the cage part, by the flowing of the material of the cage part into recesses in a die.

  • Patent number: 4435891
Abstract: A sanitary fan spray nozzle is disclosed together with its method of manufacture. The nozzle includes a passage extending from the interior surface of the tube to an exterior surface thereof. The passage has a relatively large diameter for a portion thereof between the interior surface of the tube and a point within the tube walls. The passage then narrows and is intersected by an arcuate groove having a lengthwise dimension which is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tube. The width of the arcuate groove is smaller than the diameter of the larger portion of the passage. The nozzle is formed by a method which includes drilling a pair of diametrically opposed small pilot holes through the tube, drilling completely through one of the pilot holes and a portion of the opposing hole with the bit having a larger diameter than the pilot holes. An arcuate groove is then cut within the exterior surface of the tube. The opposite hole is later plugged.

  • Patent number: 4435892
Abstract: Apparatus for the disassembly of wooden pallets or the like is disclosed. Generally, a pallet comprises a nailed together wood structure having a plurality of parallel, spaced stringers and a plurality of slats nailed to the top and bottom faces of the stringers and extending generally transversely thereof. The apparatus of this invention comprises a frame, a table mounted on the frame for receiving a pallet to be disassembled, and a plurality of cutters, one for a respective stringer, for cutting the nails holding the slats to a respective stringer. The table with the pallet thereon is movable from a retracted position in which the pallet is clear of the nail cutters to an operative position. A pallet clamp is provided on the table for holding the pallet in position with its stringers extending parallel to the direction of movement of the table. The nail cutters are adjustably movable in transverse direction so that at least certain of the nail cutters may be aligned with respective stringers.

Abstract: The invention provides a pipe or similar tubular member of ductile cast iron having an end casing. The thin walled casing has a curved profile at its entrance divided into two sections, of which one is formed by centrifugal casting, whereas the other, of lesser curvature, is made by hot or cold forming with a simultaneous axial compression and a radial bending directed towards the axis of the pipe. The invention is useful for forming fluid tight seals in pipelines using radial compression packings.

  • Patent number: 4435896
Abstract: Disclosed is an eight-mask twin-tub CMOS process which forms contiguous p- and n-tubs in a relatively lightly doped bulk region in a self-aligned manner using a single masking step. The process also forms the sources and drains of the p- and n-channel transistors with a single masking step by first nonselectively implanting p-type impurities into all source and drain regions and then selectively implanting n-type impurities into only the source and drain regions of the n-channel transistors in amounts sufficient to overcompensate the p-type impurities therein.

  • Patent number: 4435898
Abstract: A process is described which permits the fabrication of very narrow base width bipolar transistors. The ability to selectively vary the transistor characteristics provides a degree of freedom for design of integrated circuits. The bipolar transistor is processed up to the point of emitter formation using conventional techniques. But, prior to the emitter formation, the base area which is to be the emitter is dry etched using reactive ion etching. The existing silicon nitride/silicon dioxide layers with the emitter opening therein are used as the etching mask for this reactive ion etching procedure. Once the etching is completed to the desired depth, the normal processing is resumed to form the emitter and rest of the metallization. Since the intrinsic base under the emitter is etched. and the normal emitter is formed afterwards, the etching reduces the base width by an amount approximately equal to the etched depth.
