  • Patent number: 4475293
Abstract: A chamber such as a curing oven or drier is inerted during the curing of solvent borne resin coatings with the solvent vapor formed therein being withdrawn together with inert gas at a substantially constant flow rate. The withdrawn gas stream is supplied to a condensation unit to enable recovery of solvent and the noncondensed gas discharged from the condensation unit is returned to the oven at a flow rate which may be varied so as to maintain a material balance with respect to the oven atmosphere. Appropriate adjustments are made in response to changes occurring in the oven solvent vapor and/or oxygen concentration without disturbing the material balance mentioned above while the oven atmosphere is withdrawn at a substantially constant flow rate. A plurality of ovens may be connected to a single condensation unit and upon detecting undesired conditions such as excessive oxygen levels in one oven, the same may be separately isolated from the condensation unit.

  • Patent number: 4475294
Abstract: An energy efficient method of drying and curing insulation on wire, especially magnet wire, is disclosed. Heated gases are used separately to dry and cure a curable insulating coating such as a phenolic resin. Gases exhausted from the drying and curing operations and containing volatile combustible materials evolved from the drying and curing of the coating, is passed to a heat exchanger where they pick up heat from the exhaust gases of a fume burner. The hot gases are then passed to the fume burner where the combustible materials are burned to add heat of combustion to the gas stream, which is then cycled back as the fume burner exhaust through the heat exchanger, mixed with air, and passed to the drying section of the wire oven. This recapture of the heat from the combustion provides the heat needed for drying of the coating, thus maximizing the energy efficiency of the process. Apparatus to perform the process is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4475303
Abstract: The invention relates to a pad for launching toy vehicles whose motors have been previously energized onto a track, comprising a plate provided with an annular runway on which the vehicles are placed, and a turnstile having arms which separate the vehicles and constitute a stop for each of them. A pawl stops the turnstile from rotating. Retraction of this pawl by action on its rod permits, due to the fact that the drive wheels of each vehicle are providing torque, rotation of the turnstile which thus releases the first vehicle. The rotation of the turnstile causes return into blocking position of the pawl whose rod is then extended in a position to be actuated by a vehicle finishing its run on the track. The invention is particularly applicable to games and toys.

  • Patent number: 4475308
Abstract: A controller driven revolving door system has facing spaced apart curved panels partially enclosing three equiangularly spaced center shaft coupled wings and defining entry and exit openings. The controller automatically selectively directs traffic flow through the entry and exit openings and is responsive to a microwave motion detector at the entry and a mat switch in a quarter-point position accessable to the exit. A DC motor is coupled by a gearing assembly to the center shaft. The controller monitors current passing through the motor windings sensing shaft rotation. Responsive to the mat switch, the controller applies a resistive load to the DC motor windings to regeneratively brake the rotation of the door. The controller thereafter reverses the polarity of the motor windings causing the door to rotate in a reverse direction and back any individual out of the exit area.

  • Patent number: 4475332
Abstract: A closed loop hydrostatic transmission is disclosed which includes an improved hydraulic fluid bleed arrangement. The fluid bleed arrangement includes a variable flow bleed valve hydraulically joined with each of the closed loops of the hydrostatic transmission. Each variable bleed valve is operatively associated with the control mechanism which selectively controls the reversible flow fluid pump of the closed loop for direction of fluid under pressure in forward and reverse directions in the loop. The variable action of each bleed valve permits a relatively greater amount of hydraulic fluid to be bled from the closed loop during periods of operation when the flow of hydraulic fluid otherwise lost from the closed loops is insufficient to permit adequate replenishment of fluid in the loops with cooler charging fluid.
