  • Patent number: 4485528
Abstract: A fiber strand delivered to a draft zone between a pair of back rollers and a pair of front rollers is introduced into a passage formed through a fiber strand guide device. On the way of the passage, floating fibers contained in the fiber strand are controlled by means of a fluid stream jetted to a back surface of the fiber strand to press the fiber strand onto an inner wall of the passage as well as forward it towards the front rollers. A pressing plate may be cooperatively utilized with the fluid stream. Accordingly regular drafting is attained.

  • Patent number: 4485531
Abstract: A pin comprises a head portion, a shank portion, and an end portion flared gradually to a dimension transverse to the pin axis greater than the shank portion. The end portion is slotted to afford resilient resistance to entry and withdrawal into a hole. The pin head portion is disc-like, the shank portion is of uniform circular cross-section about the pin axis, and the shank merges gradually into the slotted end portion to define an hollow oval merging at the tip as a bight, the end portion thus being adapted for snapping into a suitable hole. The pin is especially adapted to use with a circuit element carrier having an inverted U-channel in which the element is carried. The element may be inserted into a pair of holes in the top and bottom wall of the inverted U-channel, so that the shank of the element serves as a stop to prevent longitudinal escape of an element beyond the pin shank. The pin may be withdrawn after insertion and reused in the same or other holes of the same or other like carriers.

  • Patent number: 4485533
Abstract: A slide fastener chain comprises a pair of inter-engaged stringers including a pair of stringer tapes one longer than the other which have longitudinally staggered ends spaced from each other by a distance greater than the length of a slider which is to be mounted on the slide fastener chain. The coupling heads of a predetermined number of coupling elements on the longer stringer tape adjacent to the end of the shorter stringer tape and remote from the end of the longer stringer tape are cut off so that the coupling elements thus severed are kept uncoupled from opposite companion coupling elements on the shorter stringer tape. The slide fastener chain thus constructed can smoothly be threaded through the slider.

  • Patent number: 4485539
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a jig for constructing a carcase-type article of furniture. A panel which is to form a part (e.g. a door) of the finished article, is placed down on a horizontal surface. A jig is assembled around the panel using the panel as a template, the jig incorporating abutment blocks to contact the edges of the panel and locating blocks in predetermined positions relative to the abutment blocks to define the positions of the carcase walls and to locate the walls in position while being secured to one another. The carcase walls are cut to the desired size, and placed edge down within the locating blocks of the jig. Securing the walls to one another now forms a carcase the walls of which are correctly aligned with the edges of the panel.

  • Patent number: 4485540
Abstract: A roller used as a press or calender roller in a paper machine is compensated for deflection and end-loaded. The roller has a stationary axle with spaced opposite ends at which the roller is loaded and a cylindrical shell rotatably mounted on the axle. The axle has a magnetic core portion within the shell having pole shoes spaced from the shell by air gaps and magnetizing coils of electrical conductors thereon at corresponding ones of the pole shoes. The coils produce a magnetomotive force and are positioned in a manner whereby magnetic flux passing through the air gaps between the pole shoes and the shell creates a compensating force field between the shell and the magnetic core. The roller has an inner part of the shell consisting of a stack of sheets of magnetically well-conductive material separated from each other by electrical insulation thereby reducing eddy current losses.

  • Patent number: 4485550
Abstract: Schottky-barrier MOS and CMOS devices are significantly improved by selectively doping the regions surrounding the Schottky-barrier source and drain contacts. For p-channel devices, acceptor doping is carried out in either a one-step or a two-step ion implantation procedure. For n-channel devices, donor doping is carried out in a two-step procedure. • Patent number: 4485552
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of making on a common substrate complementary vertical NPN and PNP transistors having matched high performance characteristics. A barrier region of a first conductivity type is formed on a semiconductor substrate of a second conductivity type. Then, a collector region for one of the complementary transistors of a second conductivity type is formed within the barrier region. It is convenient to simultaneously form isolation regions of a second conductivity type in the substrate while forming the collector region. A collector region of a first conductivity type is then formed in the substrate for the other of the complementary transistors. An epitaxial layer of semiconductor material doped with ions of the first conductivity type is then formed on the surface of the substrate. In a preferred embodiment the P-type emitter for the PNP transistor is formed prior to a last drive-in treatment by forming a polycrystalline silicon layer on the exposed surface of the base.

A parabolic reflector is associated with each of the heating rods and serves to direct radiant energy from the same onto the photosensitive material. The heating rods lie at the focal points of the respective parabolic reflectors. Each of the reflectors has a symmetry plane which is inclined with reference to the path of the photosensitive material in such a manner that the line of intersection of the symmetry plane and the path is situated downstream of the location where a perpendicular from the focal point of the reflector to the path intersects the latter. By virtue of this arrangement, more radiant energy is directed to the upstream portion of the drying arrangement than to the downstream portion thereof. As a result, a thermal gradient exists in the drying arrangement.

Abstract: A trouser presser (10) is disclosed which includes a pair of front waist bucks (40) having front and opposing side surfaces for receiving and engaging the front torso part of a pair of trousers. A pair of rear waist bucks (41) is provided having rear and opposing side surfaces for receiving and engaging the rear torso part of a pair of trousers, with the trousers encircling the front and rear waist bucks (40 and 41, respectively). An air cylinder alternately moves front and rear waist buck (40 and 41, respectively) relatively towards and away from each other to define a closed position where the trousers are held loosely and an open position where the trousers are held in a tensioned condition for being pressed. The opposing side surfaces of the front and rear waist bucks (40, 41) are parallel to each other and in the same vertical plane to collectively define opposing, planar pressing surfaces for opposite sides of the trousers.

Abstract: A hoop for holding a piece of textile and a backing web for embroidery on the textile piece comprises outer, intermediate and inner rings. The outer ring is generally rigid, formed of a limitedly elastically deformable synthetic resin, and has a generally polygonal inner periphery generally centered on an axis. The intermediate ring is formed of a limitedly elastically deformable synthetic resin and has an outer periphery generally complementary to and axially fittable with limited play within the inner periphery of the outer ring and a generally polygonal inner periphery. Thus the intermediate ring can be elastically deformed and snapped into the outer ring with the backing web gripped between the inner periphery of the outer ring and the outer periphery of the intermediate ring. Abstract: A price channel flag clip supports a display flag or sheet generally perpendicular to a merchandise display shelf. The clip is made from a resilient diecut plastic sheet which is flexed about its longitudinal centerline when supported in the price channel. A primary slit defined in the sheet extends generally perpendicular to the centerline between two through holes in the sheet. A secondary slit extends from each hole to define a flap having one side of the primary slit as its forward edge. The flap is flexible in and out of the plane of the sheet and its leading edge remains unflexed relative to the second side of the primary slit. To insert a display flag, the flap is flexed rearwardly of the channel-supported and flexed sheet to separate the sides of the primary slit. The flag is inserted edge-first into the primary slit, all the way to the through holes, and the flap is released so that the edges of the primary slit engage the flag therebetween.

The length of the bore is such that it's closed end is spaced clear of the cap when the open bottom end rests against the firearm. The hammer may accidently strike the cover but the striking force will be deflected to bypass the cap and be transmitted directly to the firearm breech area adjacent the nipple.
