  • Patent number: 4491106
Abstract: A carburetion system for an internal combustion engine wherein the cooperation of throttle blades with the throttle body forms channels for high velocity fuel/air mixture flow at part throttle conditions. Fuel is introduced into air flowing through the main intake passage upstream of throttle blades. At partial throttle conditions, the fuel/air mixture flows substantially only through the channels. Fuel/air mixture emerges from the channels at high speed. The channels can be configured such that the emergent fuel/air mixture streams from the channels are directed on convergent paths. Converging streams from the channels collide in the air intake downstream from the throttles, where the severe turbulence resulting from the convergence causes liquid fuel to be finely atomized and evenly suspended in the intake air. Some of the liquid fuel from the mixture may separate onto the walls of the throttle body as a result of passage through the channels or turbulence from the region of convergence.

  • Patent number: 4491113
Abstract: A current regulator is proposed for use in an electronically controlled, continuously operating gasoline injection system, with the aid of which a control element can be supplied with different current values depending upon the operating states of the engine. In addition to a current regulating phase during active operation, it is possible with the proposed current regulator to reverse the direction of current flow in the control element for the sake of blocking the supply of fuel during overrunning. Towards this end a circuit apparatus links signals relating to rpm, throttle valve position and temperature. Furthermore two safety circuit arrangements are proposed for the current regulator, so that in case of a failure of important components there is no impairment of safety, and emergency operation is assured.

  • Patent number: 4491140
Abstract: A microprocessor-controlled coin handling apparatus, for example for a vending machine, has a plurality of change tubes each of which is provided with a single level sensor for determining whether or not the number of coins in the respective tube is greater than a predetermined number. The microprocessor keeps a count of the coins in the tube. When the power is turned on, the count is set to zero if the sensor indicates that the number of coins is less than the predetermined number, and is set to a predetermined "full" number otherwise. The microprocessor increments and decrements the counts as coins are delivered to and dispensed from the change tubes. Whenever the level of coins rises or falls such that the sensor output changes, the coin count is automatically corrected. Also disclosed is a non-volatile memory for storing parameters determining how the coins are handled. Keys are provided for accessing and altering the contents of the memory.

Abstract: A sliding blade damper is provided with an improved seal arrangement around the blade withdrawal aperture. Two pairs of flexible sealing strips are used, mounted on either side of the aperture and pressing against the opposite sides of the blade. The unattached edges of the sealing strips are curled and bent away from the blade. The curled edges of one pair of strips hook the curled edges of the other pair, so that when the blade is inserted into the damper, the spreading apart of the first pair of strips serves to partially spread apart the second pair as well. In this manner the leading edge of the blade penetrates between the second pair of strips rather easily, lessening the chances that those strips will be bent or torn.
