Abstract: A new spray carnation variety particularly distinguished by the very light Orient Pink coloration of its blossoms which are borne on straight, rather rigid peduncles branching from a rather rigid, upright stem having rather abundant foliage and a vigorous, upright growth habit which is rather resistant to Fusarium oxysporum.

Abstract: .[.A toilet flush water colorizer comprises a container adapted for receiving therein a flush water-coloring block and having at least one entry opening for admitting flush water thereinto, and outlet means for the discharge of colored flush water from the container, which colorizer further comprises suspending means for suspending the container at the inside of a toilet bowl, a diluting chamber in the interior of the container adapted for collecting drops of color concentrate dripping off a block after each flushing, the outlet means being located in the bottom of the diluting chamber..]..Iadd.A toilet flush colorizer container is suspendable in a toilet bowl. The upper part of the container admits flush water and, after passing over a colorizer block, colored water collects in a diluting chamber. The colored water is transferred to the toilet bowl by means of a siphon in the bottom of the diluting chamber..Iaddend.
Abstract: Method of manufacturing a filled packaging container comprising the steps of forming a bag on a mandrel, connecting a seam provided in a formed bag, forming a hole on an upper side of the bag and inserting a valve into the hole to provide an air pressure release after filling the container with a material. Two opposite edges of the valve are formed with two flexible portions made of foil. A sealing fluid is applied in the channel to provide a fluid film to connect the foil portions.
Abstract: A wire wound resistor is vertically disposed in a vessel. The resistor has a former of between 20 mm and 45 mm diameter and resistance wire of a resistance of between 1 and 4 ohms per turn connected in the circuit of an A.C. bridge-circuit. Impedance change is indicated on a display unit calibrated to indicate the change in level of liquid e.g. milk in the vessel. The resistance wire is laid on the former by applying ultrasonic sound energy to soften the former which is of polysulfone or polycarbonate and the wire embedded in the softened former material. The vessel is shaped at the lower end to assist in giving linear readings when the level of liquid is low.

Abstract: To floatingly support a saw blade in a frame, the frame is formed, at its free ends, with forked elements; clamping elements are clamped to the saw. The engagement between the forked element (the blade fitting between the gap in the fork) and the clamping element is by means of a depression-projection fulcrum engagement, so that the clamping element, to which the saw blade is attached, can rock or tilt with respect to the forked element, attached to the frame, thus avoiding holding stresses on the saw blade which lead to breakage of the blade at the attachment or clamping points.
Abstract: A surgical retractor, which includes a frame conformed to fit the surface contour of the portion of the body to be operated on and at least one stay which includes an elastic member and tissue holding means. The frame has a plurality of notches spaced about its periphery and the elastic member of the stay is adapted to be inserted into one of the notches and held in place by friction to retract the tissue.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for carrying out atomic spectroscopy, and particularly atomic absorption and atomic fluorescence spectroscopy. The method involves passing the emission spectrum of a light source through an atomized sample, changing the relationship between a selected emission line of the emission spectrum and a corresponding absorption line of the atoms of interest and measuring the absorption of that emission line by the sample before and after the aforementioned change in relationship. The change in emission and absorption line relationship can be effected by application of the Zeeman Effect, Stark Effect, or Doppler Effect. The apparatus, in one form, includes an electro-magnet operative to apply a magnetic field to the atomized sample and thereby cause splitting and shifting of the aforementioned absorption line, and the magnet is modulated to effect periodic variation of the spectral line relationship.

Abstract: The disclosed apparatus provides a mercury electrode for making non-destructive tests, especially for Schottky-diode tests of semi-conductors such as silicon. By developing vacuum under a test wafer on a support, a column of mercury is drawn into contact with the test wafer through a bore in the support that accurately establishes the area of the contact. The vacuum system also holds the test wafer securely in position, it avoids spillage of mercury, and additional circuit-completing contact can be made to the wafer with independently controlled pressure.
Abstract: An apparatus for the electrolytic generation of alkali on both sides of a substrate of hydrophilic material having applied thereto an alkali metal salt includes a pair of rollers positioned to rotate in contact with opposite sides of a substrate. Each roller has spaced around the periphery thereof a plurality of electrodes. Current of opposite polarities is applied to alternate electrodes on each roller, thereby to electrolytically generate alkali or acid on both sides of the substrate. The current may be DC, or alternatively may be AC at a low frequency. In an alternative arrangement the two rollers are replaced by a pair of endless belts of electrically conductive material positioned to move in contact with opposite sides of the substrate. An AC current at a low frequency is applied to the two belts, thereby to electrolytically generate alkali or acid on both sides of the substrate.
Abstract: A flotation process is taught for beneficiating phosphate ores containing, as impurities, silica and alkaline earth metal carbonates, particularly dolomite. Using a single flotation stage, the phosphate values are recovered in the overflow and quite unexpectedly both the siliceous and the carbonate gangue minerals are simultaneously removed in the underflow. Prior to flotation, surfaces of the minerals in the phosphate ore are selectively sulfidized with an insoluble copper-containing metal sulfide, permitting use of sulfide mineral collecting reagents such as alkyl xanthates in the flotation step to achieve a high degree of selectivity.
Abstract: A hat or cap comprising an adjustable headband, a semi-rigid visor attached to said headband and extending along the front and both sides of the cap, and a canopy attached to the outer edges of said visor. The canopy is made of formed cloth or semi-rigid material so as to maintain its shape and keep a spaced relation between the cap and the head of the wearer. The canopy further contains air vents in the front and rear so as to permit the unrestricted flow of air about the head of the wearer.
Abstract: Footwear adapted to be inserted within a sneaker or the like, preferably between the sneaker and a conventional sock. The footwear is made of a flexible, light, waterproof material which is breathable so that although moisture cannot enter the inside thereof, vapor can pass therethrough in order to afford a high degree of comfort to the wearer. The insert type footwear is constructed from a single-piece pattern which is seamed in a manner such that none of the seams run adjacent to the sole or heel region of the foot.
Abstract: A porous tube suitable for use as a vascular graft prosthesis is disclosed. It is reinforced by external ribs, integral with the tube wall. These ribs are generally transverse to the tube axis and less porous than the wall. Suitable tubing can be made from polymers exhibiting a significant degree of crystallinity, preferably polytetrafluoroethylene. Methods for making these ribbed, porous tubes are also disclosed.
