  • Patent number: 4724595
Abstract: A bladder mandrel utilizing a sleeve of Pellethane.RTM. to effect tube expansions is disclosed herein. The sleeve which forms the bladder of the mandrel terminates in sealing beads which include fluid-capturing recesses. When the beads of the sleeve are secured within grooves provided in the mandrel body, pressurized fluid flowing through the fluid port of the mandrel enters the fluid-capturing recesses of the beads and sealingly engages these beads within their respective grooves. The sleeve consequently fills with the pressurized fluid, and effects the desired tube expansion. The walls of the sleeve are thinnest at their center portion, and become progressively thicker toward the sealing beads. The use of a Pellethane.RTM. sleeve having a centrally disposed thin-walled section results in a bladder mandrel having a relatively small outer diameter, which in turn allows it to be inserted within a tube without the need for lubricants.

  • Patent number: 4724604
Abstract: A method for fitting a ring coil in a channel formed in the inner circumference surface of a hollow cylindrical member comprises a step of deforming the ring coil by applying a force to one or more portions thereof radially outwardly. The deformation of the ring coil causes a reduction of the circumscribed circle diameter facilitating its insertion into the member. After the insertion, the deformed portions are respectively outwardly pressed so that the non-deformed portions are respectively engaged with the channel. Subsequently, the deformed coil is sequentially pressed to the bottom surface of the channel are around so that the deformed coil is returned to its original shape and the whole of the coil is perfectly fitted in the channel.

  • Patent number: 4724605
Abstract: Disclosed is an area actuated switch which can be used, by way of example, in a keyboard for a calculator, learning aid or the like. An area actuated switch array is formed using two insulating sheets made of polyester or polycarbonate; the insulating sheets overlie one another such that one side of each sheet faces one another. Groups of spaced conductors formed on each of the facing sides also overlie one another, and selected conductors traverse the periphery of the keyboard. A plurality of raised, insulating spacer areas or points are positioned on the facing sides and are in registration and contact with each other. An insulating substrate is formed over the conductors traversing the periphery and this insulating substrate has substantially the same thickness as the spacer points such that the spacer points and the insulating substrate prevent the spaced conductors from making electrical contact.

  • Patent number: 4724606
Abstract: A method for assembling terminal cup-shaped end caps over the ends of cartridge-type electrical subminiature fuses during the assembly thereof has for its novel feature the provision of a centered axially extending handling wire attached to the outer face of each end cap prior to the assembly process. By configuring the lengths of the handling wires substantially longer than the dimensions of the cap itself, the use of an alignment fixture employing the wires for handling and alignment purposes allows for precise orientation of the end caps during the press-on assembly process over the ends of the fuse body. After assembly the wires are removed from their respective end caps. A shearing station suitable for mass production lead removal has upwardly extending sheraing blades with the fuses passed sequentially past the blades with their leads extending slightly over the top of the blade cutting edges.

  • Patent number: 4724610
Abstract: To attach a nut to a plate-shaped workpiece, especially to a metal sheet, in such a way that it has self-locking properties without additional aids or parts, the force fastening the nut and acting on a free thrust surface of the nut is divided into at least two effective components generating a shearing stress in the nut material, transverse deformation of a part of the nut facing away from the workpiece being produced, and the thread diameter in the thread region deformed for self-locking purposes being reduced, while at the same time the thread pitches are inclined towards the center axis. A nut which can be used either as a locking nut or as a non-locking nut is characterized by a force-deflecting design of the thrust surface.

  • Patent number: 4724611
Abstract: A semiconductor module and a producing method thereof are disclosed. The semiconductor module has a cooling chamber storing a heat-conductive material which is contracted by solidification, semiconductor chips mounted on the lower surface of a substrate and dipped in the heat-conductive material, and a substrate frame, mounted on the cooling chamber, for holding the substrate. A small gap having a width h.sub.1 is formed between the semiconductor chips and the solidified heat-conductive material surface due to contraction of the heat-conductive material by cooling and solidification and, thereafter, the semiconductor module is assembled to have a spacer having a thickness t interposed between the cooling chamber and the substrate frame, thereby forming a gap having a size of h.sub.1 +t between the semiconductor chips and the heat-conductive material. The gap h can be reduced, thus reducing a heat resistance.
