  • Patent number: 4724722
Abstract: A gearshift lever and ignition lock mechanism has a flexible cable interlock connected therebetween. At the ignition lock end of the cable, a slide member is spring-loaded toward an unlock position. The gearshift end of the cable has a spring-loaded pawl disposed thereon. The spring load on the slide member is greater than the spring load on the pawl, such that the combination of these loads continuously urge the slide member toward the unlock position. The pawl is engaged by the gearshift lever when the gearshift lever is manipulated to the park position as controlled by a detent plate. A return spring on the shift lever moves the shift lever, pawl and slide member against the combined spring load in the flexible cable to a park position. In this position, the ignition key mechanism can be manipulated to the lock position for key removal; and a ramp on the slide member is contacted by a portion of the ignition lock to prevent the slide member from moving toward the unlock position.

  • Patent number: 4724743
Abstract: In a radial piston pump, motor, transmission the deep diving or entering piston shoe is utilized and swingably borne in the pivot-bed of the radially reciprocating piston. Since deep diving piston shoes have large piston strokes, the shoes pivot in the pistons in large angles. Thereby a considerable force - portion of the load on the piston is transferred to the wall between the piston and the cylinder, whereby heretofore short pistons occasionally produced welding and sticking between the cylinder wall and the piston wall. The piston therefore receives radially extending portions, which may extend beyond the medial portion of the piston shoe and may even enter into the ring groove of the piston stroke actuator ring. Thereby a very long guidance of the piston on cylinder wall portions is obtained, which makes the application of effective pressure balancing pockets at correct location between piston wall and cylinder wall possible.

  • Patent number: 4724755
Abstract: A combination pressing and baking mechanism is provided for converting balls of dough into thin, flat discs, such as tortillas. The pressing unit comprises a pair of relatively pivotally movable heated pressing plates. The lowermost pressing plate is disposed at a substantial angle to the horizontal when it is in its remote position relative to the upper pressing plate. The angle of the lower pressing plate is selected to effect the gravitationally induced sliding of the pressed disc of dough off the lower pressing plate and onto a horizontally movable heating plate or disc of an oven. The horizontal velocity of the oven disc is maintained at a level equal to or greater than the horizontal component of velocity of the gravitationally discharged dough disc so as to facilitate removal of the dough disc from the lower pressing plate.

  • Patent number: 4724756
Abstract: The invention relates to a collapsible smoking box for smoking meat and fish in particular. The physical size of known smoking boxes is fixed and, accordingly, does not depend on the quantity of the products contained in the box to be smoked therein. Quite a large empty space of no use may be thus formed in the smoking space. In order to solve this problem, the smoking box according to the invention is formed by a plurality of separate modules to be piled up on upon another, which modules are equal in structure with the exception of the bottom of the lowest module.

  • Patent number: 4724757
Abstract: A press having a stationary upper bolster and a movable lower bolster carried by two outer and two inner frame plates located near the ends and center of the platens respectively. Through the use of strain gauges measuring the load on the product provided on either sides of each frame plate and servo-operated piston cylinders connected to the lower bolster controlling the output force, a deflection of the lower bolster is made to be parallel to the deflection of the upper bolster so that an equal pressure distribution results in compression therebetween thereby producing a uniform thickness in the product.

  • Patent number: 4724760
Abstract: A screen printing apparatus having a rotatable turret with a plurality of work supports is indexed by a curved geneva mechanism to each of a plurality of index positions. The curved geneva mechanism includes a plurality of curved slots having surfaces engaged by the driver with the curved slots designed to minimize the maximum amount of inertia and to maximize the available time for deceleration of the turret to provide a smoother and slower stopping of the turret and registration without banging and jarring of the apparatus. The preferred curved slots have a modified sine wave characteristic to provide slower changes in velocity during the stopping. The amount of inertia change during the indexing motion is analyzed and the curved slots are generated to eliminate abrupt changes in inertia that would result in a rough movement.

  • Patent number: 4724763
Abstract: An offset web-fed rotary printing machine having a plurality of in line printing couples generates torsionsal oscillations. These torsional oscillations are damped by applying a counteracting torsional moment to a free end of drive shaft assembly for the printing couples. The magnitude of the counteracting torsional moment is determined in response to the magnitude of the torsional oscillation moment which is measured by a torque measuring shaft. Damping of the torsional oscillation improves printing quality and press operational speed.

  • Patent number: 4724764
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for applying dampening fluid to the plate cylinder of printing presses which is particularly adapted to contacting continuous dampening systems. The dampening fluid applying roller is in contact with the rotating plate cylinder and there is a wiping action between the dampening fluid applying roller and the plate cylinder which loosens foreign particles from the plate cylinder so they can be removed. The dampening fluid applying roller rotates at a different speed than the plate cylinder to cause the wiping action. Preferably, the dampening fluid applying roller rotates at a slower speed than the plate cylinder. In another form of the invention an ink receptive roller is driven at the same speed as the dampening or delta roller while in contact with the dampening roller.

  • Patent number: 4724766
Abstract: Each bomblet within a cluster bomb is provided with an individually programmable detonation time delay, such that the bomblets can be programmed to detonate at desired intervals over a relatively long period of time. Program signals are transmitted to a number of bomblets at the same time from a wire that runs through openings in the bomblets, but is not mechanically attached to the bomblets. The wire is attached to the bomb canister at selected points and is severed inbetween the connection points when the canister is opened, thus permitting the wire sections to be pulled away without disrupting the bomblets' dispersion pattern. Each bomblet has a secondary transformer winding to receive signals from the transmission wire, and is provided with a unique address code such that it responds to a timing program signal only when the signal is preceded by an appropriate address code.
