  • Patent number: 4733436
Abstract: A spring assembly for counterbalancing a door includes a compression spring and tension members engaging opposite ends of the spring. The tension members can be connected in a conventional horizontally pivoted door mechanism or a track-guided door mechanism, the assembly replacing ordinary tension springs of the pivoted mechanism. The tension members and the spring are maintained in axial alignment during compression of the spring, which can be preloaded as desired. Provision is made for an initial preload corresponding to a lowered position of the door, facilitating installation and adjustment of the spring assembly. The assembly is fail-safe in that the spring is completely enclosed and the spring, if broken, continues to provide support for the door. In the track-guided mechanism, the spring assembly is connected between an anchor and a driveshaft pulley by a cable that is wound onto the pulley.

  • Patent number: 4733437
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for cutting deep-frozen foodstuff, in particular fish, in the form of square plates 4 into a plurality of square rods 15. The apparatus consists of a circular saw which is provided above a closed table top 1, and on the shaft of which are clamped, between spacer disks 6, individual saw blades 5. With respect to the thickness of the plates 4, the circular saw blades 5 have a large diameter. Stiffening spacer disks 6 clamp circular saw blades 5 except for an outer rim corresponding to the thickness of the plate 4. By these measures, relatively thin circular saw blades 5 gain a sufficient stiffness at their outer rim. This arragement reduces cutting operations and results in a small amount of chipped foodstuff material. The chipped material is not lost for the final product since it remains above the closed table top 1 and is collected by a following pressure roll 9 and deposited on the upper surface of the rods 15.

  • Patent number: 4733471
Abstract: A self-coupling split-shaft drive assembly for a tool provides for assembly by a user and start-up without concern over the proper or improper orientation of the two shafts. The drive assembly includes components to secure the two shafts for start-up and use independently of whether an orientation condition exists for their rotational coupling to one another. A shaft coupling mechanism then accomplishes the coupling where an improper condition exists after the securing, in response to the initiation of the rotation of the driver shaft by the motor. The coupling mechanism employs a driver shaft which, with a shaft socket, for receiving the driven shaft, slides back and forth, against a spring and then under the recoil force of the spring, in providing for the securing under an improper orientation condition and the subsequent coupling upon start-up.

  • Patent number: 4733473
Abstract: A duplicating drawing apparatus includes a frame and a support assembly mounted on the frame for linear movement in an X direction. A pair of rotary members are rotatably mounted on the support assembly. Each rotary member rotates about a Z axis extending in the Z direction that is at a right angle to the X direction. In one form, a sub-assembly unit which carries the rotary members can be movably mounted on the support assembly for substantial linear movement in a Y direction that is substantially at right angles to the X and Z directions. An extension arm attached to each rotary member extends outwards away from the sub-assembly. Attached to the end of each extension arm is a holder means which holds a writing instrument. When the user writes or draws using either of the writing instruments, the other writing instrument moves to produce a duplicative mirror-image copy of the user's drawing.

  • Patent number: 4733479
Abstract: Under the rated load amount of "Normal" and "Extra" drying degrees, a drying process carried out after the detections of the plurality of resistance values a passing time of at least one resistance value selected from among of the plurality of resistance values is predicted is carried out. The hot air operation time in accordance with the measured time is calculated, and the hot air operation during the calculated hot air operation time is carried out. When under the small load amount, a drying process is carried out in the form of a hot air operation by calculating a necessary time for "Damp" drying degree under a small load amount in accordance with a time for passing a predetermined resistance value after a lapse of a constant time from the start of drying operation. When one of "Semi", "Normal" and "Extra" drying degrees under the small load amount is selected, a hot air operation is carried out at a constant time according to the calculated time for "Damp" drying degree.
