Abstract: I disclose that my herein invention of a new variety of Zoysia grass plant was discovered by me through my cross-pollinating of selected varieties of Zoysia grass plants, then through asexual repropagation I selected the new and distinct variety of Zoysia grass plant ZT-26. This new variety of Zoysia grass plant produces an excellent turfgrass from stolons and rhizomes with a considerably faster establishment growth rate and with a more open texture that develops less thatch and retains superior green color during the winter period when compared to the closest known varieties of the species.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved construction for an electrostatic precipitator having ladder bar spacers. The electrostatic precipitator collects solid particles carried by a flue gas from a source of combustion. The precipitator includes a plurality of spaced plates for collecting solid particles from the flue gas by electrostatic attraction of the solid particles to the plates. A second plurality of elongated electrodes is positioned among the plates. Each of the electrodes is mounted between a pair of adjacent plates. Each of the electrodes is parallel to the other electrodes and is parallel to the plates. A third plurality of ladder bars is positioned between adjacent plates to hold the plates in a flat attitude and to maintain adjacent surfaces of adjacent plates substantially equidistantly spaced from one another. Each of the ladder bars has a connector bar secured to one of the pair of adjacent surfaces. Each of the ladder bars has a fourth plurality of holder bars.

Abstract: An embodiment of a unique ceramic bandstop filter is comprised of a dielectric plate having an input electrode disposed centrally on the top surface thereof and a dielectric block fixedly attached to the bottom surface of the plate and having a hole opposite the input electrode. The dielectric material is preferably a ceramic comprised of BaO, TiO.sub.2 and ZrO.sub.2 : The dielectric block is entirely plated with copper or silver except for a portion of the top surface surrounding the hole and is essentially a short-circuited coaxial transmission line. In another embodiment of the unique ceramic bandstop filter, a dielectric block has a hole extending between top and bottom surfaces thereof and an input electrode plated on the top surface near the hole. The dielectric block is entirely plated with copper or silver except for a portion of the top surface surrounding the input electrode and hole.

Abstract: A quick-release necktie comprising a preliminarily tied necktie base having a knot, neckbands extending of both sides of the knot and a pair of quick-releasable male and female fastening means attached to the ends of the neckbands. The male fastening means is formed of a tongue-like plug portion having wedge-form, captively engaging projections on both faces. The female fastening means is formed of a socket portion including a pair of juxtaposed plate-like clip members which opposedly face the tongue-like plug portion, the clip members having clutching means capable of fitting the projections thereto in a rebound manner. Otherwise, the male fastening means comprises a flat bit-form, captive pin member whereas the female fastening means comprises detent members capable of fitting the pin member thereto in a rebound manner.

Abstract: The present invention provides an adjustable archer's bow-sling. This bow-sling includes a generally rectangular leather and elastic member, provided with finger holes connected to an adjustable length wrist strap. This rectangular member is fitted to the palm of the archer's bow hand and is of sufficient length to wrap around a bow, folding back on itself and is provided with adjustable length attachment means to attach to itself sufficiently snugly about a bow so as to support the bow against the archer's open palm, allowing the bow hand to relax while aiming and shooting arrows.

Abstract: A connection between the outlet of a flush valve and a flush tube includes an outlet fitting for the flush valve having an exterior thread thereon and a flush tube which extends within the outlet fitting. A coupling nut having an interior threaded area for attachment to the fitting also has an inwardly-directed annular shoulder which extends closely adjacent the flush tube and with the end of the fitting, defines an annular chamber. Positioned within the annular chamber is an annular elastomeric gasket in contact with an end of the fitting and in peripheral contact with the flush tube. A back-up ring is positioned within the chamber for circumferential contact with the gasket and a clip ring is positioned within the chamber between the back-up ring and the coupling nut shoulder and is adapted for surface penetration engagement with the exterior of the flush tube.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a dissolvable product into a toilet bowl. The structure of the dispenser properly meters and times the flow of water therethrough to increase operational efficiency. The dispenser includes a substantially sealed container enclosing the product and having an entrance hole and an exit hole. Water flow interruptions are positioned to interrupt the flow of flush water and to channel the water to the entrance. A sufficient change of water is guaranteed by the deflectors while excess water is limited by the size of the entrance. A deflector is positioned to deflect water away from the product, and instead to cause the water to rise gently in the containers. The size of the exit hole ensures that water remains in the container after flushing has stopped, so that the dissolved product is efficiently infused into the water standing in the toilet bowl as the water level in the container recedes.

Abstract: A toilet seat assembly is provided having a seat that is pivotably supported at its forward end for swinging movement between substantially horizontal and upwardly inclined positions. A power lift mechanism is incorporated in the assembly and is selectively operable by the user to pivot the seat and support the seat in a desired position for assisting the user in moving between seated and standing positions. The power lift mechanism includes an expandible bladder of the bellows disposed at the rear of the seat assembly between a base structure adapted to be secured on the top of a toilet bowl and the pivoted seat that is also mounted on the base structure.

Abstract: A children's toilet apparatus is disclosed that is convertible from a free-standing potty chair to a toilet trainer that cooperates with a conventional toilet. The apparatus principally comprises a toilet seat member and adjustable legs which are pivotally interconnected. When employed as a free-standing potty chair, the leg members independently support the toilet seat member. When utilized as a toilet trainer, the leg members are oriented so that the toilet seat member is stabilized on and about the water closet seat of a conventional toilet by virtue of the interconnection of the toilet seat member and the leg members and contact of one of the leg members with a floor surface. In a preferred arrangement, one of the leg members is provided with a step member and hand grips to aid children in positioning themselves on top of the toilet seat member when the apparatus is employed as a toilet trainer.

Abstract: This invention relates to a vertically drawn shower curtain having a raised position and a lowered position and being movable therebetween, for preventing water from escaping from a shower enclosure. The shower curtain is composed of waterproof panels, flexible hanging straps, clamps, and drawstrings. In the lowered position, the hanging straps support the panels in an inwardly overlapping relationship. The hanging straps are attached to the upper edge of each panel, leaving the lower edge free to rotate inwardly. The hanging straps have guides for the drawstrings. The drawstrings are attached to the lowest panel, are lead through the guides, and then through an eyelet on the clamp. All drawstrings terminate in a single pull ring. In the raised position, the panels are supported in a substantially nested relationship, by the combination of the drawstrings and clamps. The shower curtain may also include a valence panel, supported by the clamps, to hide the workings of the drawstrings and the clamps.

Abstract: A sling arrangement is disclosed for supporting a patient in a relaxed position in the tank of a hydrotherapeutic or whirlpool bath to eliminate the need for the patient to hang onto the sides of the tank. A mesh body supporting hammock is formed of a generally rectangular shape, with the corners extended somewhat to form reinforced pockets. Front and rear stirrup pairs include supporting loops which are received within the pockets, the stirrup pairs being slidably mounted along the rim of the tank, including a forward stirrup pair which supports the forward edge of the hammock below the rim of the tank and a rearward stirrup pair which supports the back of the hammock in an elevated or somewhat upright position above the rim of the tank, so that the patient may be received in the hammock in a relaxed or semi-reclined position. The hammock also includes provision for supporting the neck and head region of the patient, permitting these muscles to be relaxed as well.

Abstract: A portable knockdown decontamination chamber is disclosed for use with a liquid decontaminant supply to apply a confined liquid decontaminant wash to a subject located in the chamber. A base of the chamber includes an upwardly opening channel formed generally around its periphery. A wall construction having arcuate corner panels and planar panels therebetween includes a lower edge shaped to fit in the channel so that the corner and planar panels are supported on the base with the lower edge residing in the channel. The base is formed by a subbase and a liner that have interacting rib structures, and the ribs are configured to provide a drainage network so that liquid accumulating in the channel is drained into a sump formed at one end of the base. A top has a downwardly opening groove extending generally around its periphery for receiving an upper edge of the wall construction so that the top can be placed in a supporting relationship on the wall construction.

Abstract: The mattress pad and fitted bed sheet (31) are formed by placing equal lengths of mattress pad material (58) and bed sheet material (61) in overlying relationship and sewing the narrower mattress pad material at its side edges to the sheet material. The combined work product is then cut to length, the end portions folded over, and the corners bevelled and sewn together. An elastic tape (48, 49) is applied to each end of the work product so as to draw the mattress pad and fitted bed sheet about the mattress. The structure enables the mattress pad and fitted bed sheet to stay in proper position even when applied to a foldable mattress (24) of a sofa bed (20), when the mattress is folded into its hidden position inside the sofa bed.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and apparatus for providing orthopedic support. A preferred system (20) includes a pair of wedge-shaped pillows (22, 24), a cervical pillow (32) and a rectangular elevation pillow (38). The pillows (22, 24, 32 and 38) can be made of polyurethane foam and covered with nylon. One of the wedge-shaped pillows 22 has a cross-section of a right isosceles triangle. The other wedge-shaped pillow (24) also has a cross-section substantially similar to a right isosceles triangle but has a concave portion (30) suitable for receiving a convex neck support area (36) of the cervical pillow (32). The pillows (22, 24, 32 and 38) preferably include Velcro.TM. strips which allow the pillows to be interconnected and connected to a mat (42) so that an individual's legs and head can be appropriately supported to induce a pain-reducing curve in the individual's lower back. Abstract: A cushion wherein a case defines a pocket for a stuffing which is composed of one or more layers of foamed plastic material. The layer or layers have straight slits each of which extends all the way through the respective layer and is disposed in a plane extending at right angles to the outer sides of such layer. Each slit extends at right angles to at least one neighboring slit and the layer or layers are connected to each other and to the panels of the case by spots or lines of adhesive, weldant and/or yarn. The cushion can be used in motor vehicles, upholstered furniture, beds, toys, clothing and mattresses.

Abstract: An industrial laundry washer/extractor unit is provided with an integral water and heat reclaim system which includes a pair of water reclaim tanks supported in an elevated position on the unit's body section above the washing drum. A single pipe water transfer system is connected between the elevated tanks and the drum and has a pump operatively installed therein at or somewhat below the water operating level of the drum. The transfer system is controlled by a microprocessor to transfer used rinse water at different temperatures from the drum to the tanks and then re-transfer tank water to the drum for re-use as wash water in subsequent wash cycles of the unit. The temperatures of the reclaimed rinse water in the tanks closely match the wash temperatures in subsequent wash cycles so that a significant water heating cost savings is achieved together with reduced water and cleaning agent usage.

Abstract: Presented is a method and apparatus for custom tinting soft contact lenses in the dispensing office prior to dispensing such lenses to the wearer, or even after they have been dispensed and worn for a time. In the past, contact lenses have been tinted by mass production means by a very limited number of manufacturers. In one aspect, this invention presents a device that can be used by a dispensing optician, optometrist or ophthalmologist to custom tint soft contact lenses to the specification of the wearer while the wearer waits for the lenses to be tinted. In terms of structure, the apparatus comprises a hand-held device into which a soft contact lens may be deposited and sealed and subjected to the chemical reaction of an appropriate dye to tint the contact lens to the requisite color.

Abstract: In a hydraulically operated pulling over and toe lasting machine both the operative position of the heel support (26), i.e. in which it holds the shoe by engagement with its heel end, and the position from which it initially moves to engage the shoe (the "next start" position) are controlled by electronic circuitry. Thus, an inductance switch (118) is actuated when the heel pad (100) engages the heel end of the shoe, said switch causing the supply of fluid to be shut off and locking the heel support in its operative position. For setting the "next start" position, on the other hand, selector switches (122,124) are provided each of which has an associated timer (T1,T2). At the end of a lasting cycle the heel support (26) is first fully retracted and then moves to its "next start" position under the control of the timer associated with the selected switch.

Abstract: This invention is a machine for washing vehicles. A plurality of horizontal and vertical rotating brushes are provided to move over a car's surface to scrub it. Horizontal top brushes are mounted on pivoting brush arms which are counterbalanced by springs to assure relatively constant brush pressure on a vehicle surface regardless of the brush arm's orientation. Additionally, generally vertical side brushes are stacked in tandem on each side of the machine to wash the sides of a vehicle. These tandem side brushes are supported by inwardly canted shafts enabling the brushes to freely fall against the sides of a vehicle. Each side brush is independently driven at its outermost end to allow independent control of each brush. Means for guiding a vehicle into the wash bay is also provided. This is preferably a vertical water beam disposed within the wash bay by which a driver can accurately position a vehicle for washing.

Castings conveyed into the decoring station by means of conveyor pallets are clamped in a clamping frame. An impact device for decoring the casting imparts percussions on the clamping frame. Subsequently, the loosened core sand is removed from the casting in a turning device.

Abstract: An improved mop for cleaning floors includes the use of a glass-fiber pad mounted to the end of a conventional handle. A wringing mechanism permits liquid to be squeezed out of the mop pad when desired.

Abstract: A cylindrical motor driven brush for a vacuum cleaner or the like having a hollow outer cylinder and a plastic bristle tube assembly for insertion in the outer cylindrical tube. The insert tube is provided with a helical mounting strip with brush bristles thereon which is inserted through a correspondingly shaped slot in said outer cylindrical tube.

Abstract: A scraper for the inner surfaces of the housing or undercarriage of a lawn mower. The scraper is constructed of a metal sheet of elongated shape having a straight scraper edge along one side, an elongated handle extending along the other side and different configurated ends for accommodating differently shaped surfaces of different lawn mowers. In a preferred form, one of the ends is arcuate in shape and also arcuately bent in a third dimension for providing a saddle in which the user can place his or her thumb for ease in handling the scraper.

Abstract: A body carries a scraper, abraider, and/or stiff brush for the removal of a coating layer covering game symbols on a lottery ticket. The body may be a container for carrying therein a plurality of such lottery tickets packaged for sale. Also it may be employed to retain winning tickets. The scraper, abraider, and/or stiff brush may have a guide associated therewith to limit scraping, abraiding and brushing to the position on the ticket where the game symbols are located.

The clamping arrangement comprises an operating level 8 disposed at a front upper surface 1a of the head portion 1 and positioned for single-handed operation by an operator using the thumb or forefinger of the hand in which the handle section is held.

Abstract: A control lever is driven by a driving unit to cause variation in tension of a coil spring and therefore variation in force with which a wiper blade is pressed against a windshield. The driving unit is disposed in an arm head and includes a geared motor, a male screw member in the form of a bolt and secured to an output shaft of the geared motor and a female screw member having an internally threaded socket portion screwed onto the male screw member and a sliding portion in the form of a rectangular bar and installed in a guide member for longitudinal movement but against rotation. The output shaft of the geared motor, male screw member and the female screw member are so arranged as to have axes in line with each other and exending longitudinally of the arm head.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner nozzle with a retractable brush having a plate carrying strips of bristles along the forward and rearward edge thereof and having leaf springs extending from one side and cam following members extending from the opposite side. A slide having camming members in engagement with the cam following members of the brush plate. The slide and brush plate are captured in a housing into which a conduit from the vacuum source extends through the housing and out of a sole plate, which is removably secured to the top plate and against which the brush plate leaf springs bear. Projections from the slide extend through the top of the housing and move the slide laterally in one direction to bring the brush through openings along the forward and rearward edges of the sole plate against the bias of the leaf springs to extend the brush. The projections move laterally in the opposite direction to permit the springs to retract the brush.

Abstract: Caster wheel mount apparatus is disclosed, which comprises load carrying bearings and swivel bearings, each set of bearings is contained in its own race, and the bearings are protected from contamination by a skirt on the outer periphery of the load carrying bearings, and drainage of the races of the bearings is has should contaminants such as water or steam enter the bearing mount races. A suitable grease fitting is mounted on the load bearing race for lubrication as needed.

Abstract: A sleeve for assisting a cylindrical door closure for maintaining a door opened. A door closure made of a cylindrical barrel with a rod slidably mounted in the member is known to have a hold open washer for locking the rod relative to the barrel. The locking takes place when the washer is tilted on the rod and the edge around the hole pries on the rod. When the hole in the washer does not perform its locking function, the new sleeve is mounted over the end of the barrel. The sleeve has an end wall which abuts against the end of the barrel and is provided with a central aperture for allowing the sliding of the rod. The end wall is made with a greater thickness around the periphery to increase the angle between the washer and the rod so that the prying effect takes place between the washer and the rod.

Abstract: An improved molded hinge assembly is disclosed and is particularly adapted for pivoted vehicle window applications. The assembly allows for the pivotal mounting of a vehicle window in a window opening in a vehicle body panel while requiring little or no bonding or other affixation of the window gasket or hinge assembly to the outer surface of the window panel. Futhermore, the present invention provides a molded hinge assembly that is relatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture and to install in a vehicle window application. Such a hinge assembly can also be manufactured by reaction injection molding techniques from multi-constituent materials, such as urethane, for example, which allows molding at relatively low pressures to prevent or minimize glass breakage and provides for secure bonding and sealing between the window gasket and the window panel.

Abstract: A carding machine has a toothed takerin (4a) for taking fibre to be carded from a feed arrangement (3a) to a main carding cylinder (5a). The fibre is conveyed on the lower arc of the takerin, and a substantially rigid, flat plate (10) lies below the lower arc of the takerin. The plate extends across the full width of the takerin and terminates in a free edge facing into the direction of roation of the takerin and substantially parallel to the takerin axis. The free edge is spaced from the tips of the teeth on the takerin by a distance of not more than 5 mm, and the plate lies in a plane that makes an angle of from 75.degree. to 120.degree. to that radial plane of the takerin that intersects the free edge of the plate.

Abstract: An improved coiler device of a spinning machine, wherein a downstream portion of a coiler tube is further bent downward at a position adjacent to a place where a sliver exits, a flange extending upward is arranged in a coiler wheel side of a coiler plate, whereby an exit opening of the coiler tube is formed from a bottom face of the coiler wheel to the flange, and the coiler plate is movably constituted so that a relative speed of an inside face of the flange to that of the coiler tube is lower than a moving speed of the coiler tube.
