  • Patent number: 4777756
Abstract: A fising jig using a chemiluminescent capsule. The jig includes an elongated, weighted fish shaped body having a longitudinal extending cavity for receiving and holding the chemiluminescent capsule therein. The cavity has a pair of light emitting openings in the opposite sidewalls of the body communicating with the cavity. A continuous bore extends longitudinally and fully through the body from the forward to the rearward end, and a resilient tubular line guide is disposed in the bore. The line guide is a resilient Teflon tube having a lengthwise bore with a low friction, nonchaffing interior wall surface. The line guide bore is sized to loosely receive a fishing line and allows the free sliding of the jig along the line and the free rotation of the jig about the line during usage. The line guide has a resilient forward end portion extending out of the body bore at the body forward end by a distance sufficient to provide a shock absorbing action as the jig wobbles on the line during usage.

  • Patent number: 4777769
Abstract: Automated grinding is performed using a tracking means having a sufficient field of view to locate edges to be processed and using a high resolution profiler in order to provide grinding information for calculation of the amount of material which should be removed from the workpiece. Those sections of the workpiece not requiring additional grinding may be traversed at a high speed in order to improve productivity. A process control computer receives grinding information from the tracking means and high resolution profiler and uses it to control a manipulator to adjust the travel speed of the grinder, force with which a grinder is applied, position of the grinder, and/or speed of rotation of the grinder in order to remove the correct amount of material from a workpiece. The technique is especially advantageous in removing excess material, burrs, nicks, chips and other minor irregularities in workpieces. A second profiler may be used to check that the grinder has properly ground portions of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4777782
Abstract: Different products are hermetically sealed in separate but integrally adjoining packages to form package pairs or what might be called "dual" packages. All of the packages are made from two continuous sheets of plastic packaging material, and the separate packages of each pair are differentially-conditioned by differential evacuation and/or gassing to different pressure levels. A continuous series of filled side-by-side containers formed from one sheet of packaging material is conveyed in two parallel rows into a sealing region where a cover sheet is laid over the containers to form packages. A group of the packages is stopped in the sealing region, and are clamped and partially sealed around the peripheries of the individual packages. The individual side-by-side units of the package pairs are differentially conditioned as to vacuum pressure or gas pressure or composition through aligned openings between adjacent containers in each of the parallel rows.

  • Patent number: 4777792
Abstract: The gripping device comprises at least one gripper which can be inserted into the tube and is formed from two elements which are mobile axially one in the other and are provided with frusto-conical ends which cooperate in such a manner that the axial movement of the inner element causes the outer element to expand and to engage under pressure with the tube for the purpose of its replacement. Two friction discs supported in an axially mobile manner are associated with the gripper and are subjected to the action of a spring in order to press a lower support element of the discs against the tube in order to retain it and allow exact keying of the tube on to the rotary drive element. The device is particularly suitable for cops.

  • Patent number: 4777794
Abstract: A method and apparatus 10 for self-regulating the mass flow rate of a fluid comprises a housing 12 defining an upper chamber 14 and a lower chamber 16, a sealed and pressurized bellows 30 contained within the upper chamber 14, spring bias means 58 contained within the lower chamber 16 and a poppet 32 with a poppet head 40 for defining a fluid passageway 44.Supply fluid flows through inlet 56, lower chamber 16, fluid passageway 44 and into upper chamber 14. Once in upper chamber 14 the fluid is in heat exchange communication with a fluid in sealed bellows 30. When the mass flow rate of the fluid flowing through upper chamber 14 is effected by either in pressure or a change in temperature, a corresponding change takes place in the fluid in the bellows 30 thus repositioning the poppet head 40 accordingly to redefine the area of passageway 44. Fluid leaves the apparatus through exits 28.

  • Patent number: 4777795
Abstract: The device comprises, at the outlet of the combustion chamber 3, a movable assembly comprising a hollow closure member 26 constituting a needle 27, a thermal shield 22 and an annular piston 14. This closure member acts as a piston under the effect of the pressure of the gases and drives the annular piston so as to expel a hydraulic fluid from a jack chamber 33 having an adjustable outlet 34. The closure member 26 defines a chamber 28 for calming the gases.

  • Patent number: 4777796
Abstract: An improved muffler system for internal combustion engines recovers heat energy of exhaust gases by spraying a fluid into the exhaust stream in order to absorb the heat energy of the exhaust gases. The heated fluid is collected at the bottom of the muffler vessel and the stored heat energy is transferred to a second fluid via a counter-current liquid to liquid heat exchanger. The heat energy from the second fluid is then removed and utilized, for example, to condition passenger spaces.

  • Patent number: 4777797
Abstract: A hydraulic system having an axial piston pump as a control pump which is regulated by a regulating device as a function of the demands with respect to volumetric flow and pressure of a load circuit supplied by it. On the suction side, the control pump is optionally provided with a partial amount of its maximum delivery volume by a feed pump, while the remaining part of the corresponding delivery quantity is drawn in directly from a storage container, bypassing the feed pump. Possibly impermissibly high vacuums on the suction side of the control pump are detected by a suction safety device which acts on the control pump via its regulating device so that the control pump delivers smaller quantities of hydraulic fluid unitl permissible operating conditions are reached.

  • Patent number: 4777798
Abstract: A universal control system for hydraulic cylinders to enable controlled increments of movement for varying uses including shaping members and lifting and lowering of loads. The lift control system is utilized to synchronize the raising or lowering of a load by, for example, four simultaneously-acting pump-operated hydraulic rams which have plural increments of movement. A sensor associated with the load adjacent each ram measures incremental movement of the load. A master controller controls the operation of the rams in accordance with the sensed increments and operates each pump simultaneously and independently until each pump achieves a preselected increment of movement of a ram, to maintain the load substantially level, followed by movement of all the rams through another increment of movement until the total lifting or lowering movement is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4777799
Abstract: A memory element made of a shape-memory alloy includes lead-attachment and shape-memory portions and a partition interconnecting such portions. The lead-attachment and shape-memory portions are comprised of characteristic internal structures, while the partition is comprised of an internal structure dissimilar to the characteristic internal structure of at least one of the lead-attachment and shape-memory portions. Shape-memory effect characteristics of the shape-memory portion are preserved to maintain the memory function of the memory element by configuring the dissimilar internal structure to block transmigration from the lead-attachment to the shape-memory portions of selected contaminant material existing in the lead-attachment portion. The partition functions as a contaminant filter to control the concentration of contaminant material in the shape-memory portion, thereby enhancing the durability of the memory element.
