  • Patent number: 4788788
Abstract: A catfish bait holder utilizes a conventional treble hook having an elongated shank secured to a leader. A cylindrical sponge having a central axial hole is positioned around the shank of the hook. An elongated hollow cylinder formed from an open mesh net material surrounds the cylindrical sponge and is in co-axial alignment therewith. The internal diameter of the hollow mesh cylinder and the external diameter of the cylindrical sponge are substantially equal so that the mesh cylinder is retained in position by frictional engagement with the sponge. In use, the mesh cylinder is filled with a viscous bait paste, which oozes out of the mesh cylinder and provides a chumming effect. In a second embodiment of the invention, the mesh cylinder is provided with an enclosed conical tapered top portion and the cylindrical sponge is provided with a plurality of circumferentially spaced radially extending projections for engagement with the open mesh cylinder.

Abstract: A surface blasting apparatus for treating a surface with abrasive, cleaning dust and debris from abrasive rebounded from the treated surface so that the abrasive may be reused, and separating the debris from the air. Air and debris flow through abrasive rebounded from said surface and through a baffle system which prevents abrasive flow therethrough. A row of magnets is positioned adjacent the baffle system for receiving and arresting abrasive exiting an abrasive return chute. A mechanical conveying system lifts abrasive upwardly so that it falls toward an abrasive storage hopper. The abrasive falls in the form of a curtain through which air exiting the baffle system passes. The air and dust contained therein enter a prefilter in a first cleaning chamber and heavy dust falls downwardly therefrom. The air flows from the prefilter into a second cleaning chamber where it is filtered so that light dust is removed therefrom and falls downwardly.

  • Patent number: 4788822
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for controlling boost pressure in a turbocharged internal combustion engine. A turbine disposed in the engine exhaust passage is driven by exhaust gas and in turn drives a compressor disposed in the engine air intake passage, thus boosts the engine combustion chamber by delivering pressurized air thereto. The boost pressure is reduced when the actual ignition timing becomes more retarded than a reference ignition timing. The reference ignition timing is varied in proportion to an engine speed and/or an intake air pressure. Since the decision whether or not to reduce the boost pressure is based on the ignition timing actually being applied to the engine, no risk of damage to the engine arises and unnecessary reduction of engine output can be reliably prevented, enabling the engine to operate with optimum performance.

A cylindrical chamber at the end of the cylindrical shell provides fluid communication between the other two chambers. The compressor discharge is located in the lower and larger chamber which is a segment of a circle portion which also contains the oil sump. A discharge deflector turns the compressor discharge flow at least 90.degree., but as much as 135.degree., and causes it to impact upon the lower surface of the divider plate and depositing oil thereon. The flow striking the divider plate is deflected 180.degree. and is caused to turn approximately 90.degree.

  • Patent number: 4788834
Abstract: To reduce the running cost of an MRI apparatus, power supplied to a normal conductive coil from a pre-regulator is reduced in an idling mode. This reduction in power also reduces the heat generated in the normal conductive coil and a shunt resistor. A computer controls a cooling unit according to the amount of the heat reduced in order to reduce to flow rate of a cooling medium. In this manner, the temperatures of the normal conductive coil and shunt resistor can be maintained at constant levels. Further, if a current value is set to maintain the temperatures of the normal conductive coil and shunt resistor at the constant levels only by natural heat radiating, circulation of the cooling medium can be stopped.
