Patent number: 4790064Abstract: A laminated amorphous-metal transformer core having four sides joined by corner regions includes (a) joints located in a joint region in one of its sides and (b) side portions between the joint region and two corner regions. After annealing the core and while restraining the core laminations in a core region remote from the joint region, the joints are separated by displacing each of the side portions into a position of approximate alignment with the side of the core interconnected therewith at a corner region. Then a splint is applied to each of the side portions and the aligned interconnected side, thus holding these two parts in approximately aligned relation. The splint is relied upon to facilitate insertion of the aligned parts into the window of a coil, following which the splint is slid off the aligned parts, and core-lacing is completed.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1988Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Donald E. Patent number: 4790065Abstract: A servicing machine for a steam generator is accurately set up in the generator channel head with a pivoted arm mounted for rotation in a plane parallel to the tubesheet. The angular position of the arm, the longitudinal position of a carriage mounted on the arm and the vertical position of a platform on the carriage are remotely controlled to maneuver a probe used in mapping the precise location of the thousands of holes in the tubesheet. Various operations are then performed at each precise hole location by tools carried by the arm mounted carriage to prepare for installation of new tubing. The operation of a pair of remotely controlled pivoted arms, one on each side of the channel head divider plate, is coordinated to automatically position the ends of U-shaped tubes in corresponding holes in the tubesheet on opposite sides of the divider plate and to secure the same in place.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1981Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventors: Frank W. Patent number: 4790086Abstract: An apparatus, method and kit for ironing wrinkled fabrics or clothes without using heat or an iron is disclosed. A board is covered with furniture grade velour, bristle side facing upwards. The wrinkled article to be pressed is spread out on the upwardly facing velour bristles. The hands of the user are then placed against the article, palms down, and the article is pressed by the palms against the bristles. The article is then "ironed" using the operator's hands in a spreading motion to move wrinkles from the center of the article radially outward to the perimeter of the article. In this "ironing" process, the palms and fingers of the hands keep a downward force on the article as the wrinkles are spread to extinguishment at the perimeter of the article. When all of the wrinkles have been spread to and extinguished at the perimeter of the article, the article is lifted from the velour bristles and will be wrinkle free. In some instances, sprinking water on the article facilitates the ironing process.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1987Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Inventor: Ann-Britt Bosson

Patent number: 4790098Abstract: A casting net is disclosed constructed of a circular net with a ring-shaped element fitted in its center. The circumference is fitted with a bottom rope holding weight elements, weight blocks or chain-weight chains. The cast-net hanging from its central ring-shaped element drops to form a conical cast-net when retrieved. During casting, the integral net element spreads to become a planar net shape which differs from that of the traditional cylindrical cast-net. This invention reduces seam stitching and makes it easier to spread for maximum effect. Moreover, the central ring-shaped element, i.e. the lower and the upper retaining ring elements, can be easily fitted to the meshes in the center of the cast-net in a secure simplified manner.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1987Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Inventor: Pang C. Patent number: 4790106Abstract: An improved casement window sash unit includes a pair of track and hinge assemblies, each being secured to one of the upper and lower horizontal window frame members of a window opening in a building. Each track and hinge assembly includes a track having a toggle hinge pivotally and slidably secured thereto and to the sash. The track for each assembly has a pair of elongate longitudinally extending openings therein, each accommodating an attachment screw therethrough, each opening being of a size to permit slight longitudinal shifting of the track relative to the window frame. Each track and hinge assembly includes a cam positioned within a cam opening in the track and secured to the track and window frame by an attachment screw. Each cam is selectively shiftable in either direction from a centered position to slightly shift the track longitudinally of the window frame before the attachment screws are tightened to adjust the position of the hinge relative to the window frame and thereby overcome sash sag.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1987Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Inventor: Jack C. Patent number: 4790107Abstract: A securing device for casement windows or the like includes an abutment member secured to the master frame in the path of motion of an engaging member. The abutment member extends away from the master frame a greater distance at the end of the abutment member nearer to the inner side of the window. The engaging member is mounted to the casement frame and extends away from the casement frame a greater distance at its side closer to the outside of the window. Both the abutment member and engaging member include non-planar contacting surfaces which mate when the window is in its closed position. This arrangement of the abutment member and engaging member also prevents the casement frame from bulging away from the master frame under wind pressure. The securing device is mounted along one side of the window.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1986Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Assignee: Slocomb Industries, Inc.Inventors: Phillip J. Patent number: 4790110Abstract: For a tile-like ceramic element provided on its visible side with an electrically conductive surface glaze which, when the tile-like ceramic element is laid with a plurality of such elements to form a covering for lining walls or floors, communicates conductively with a substructure which diverts electricity and is to be provided below the covering, its laying to form a flooring can be performed utterly independently, so that a joint material can be selected which completely meets all requirements to be met by such a material in terms of its scuff resistance, its elasticity and hygienic properties, and allows for at least part of the side of the tile-like ceramic element facing away from the visible side to be coated with a material having good electrically conductive properties which communicates with the surface glaze in electrically conductive fashion.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1987Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Assignee: Buchtal Gesellschaft mit beschrankter HaftungInventor: Martin Bard
