The insulation piercing portion includes an arm spaced laterally from the plate and adapted with a barb for piercing through the conductor insulation. The insulation displacement and insulation piercing portion of the contact member cooperate or function alternatively to provide an effective electrical connection with the conductor, regardless of its particular type.

Abstract: A modified dry dietary fiber product which is readily dispersible in liquids such as water, comprises a dry dietary fiber product coated with from 0.5 to 20% by weight of the food grade emulsifier. Process for producing coated dietary fiber products comprises blending these dietary fiber product materials with the mixture of a non-toxic solvent in a food grade emulsifier followed by removing the solvent.The questions raised in reexamination request No. 90/001,032, filed May 22, 1986, have been considered and the results thereof are reflected in this reissue patent which constitutes the reexamination certificate required by 35 U.S.C. 307 as provided in 37 CFR 1.570(e).

Abstract: The invention provides an improvement in the suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride or a monomer mixture mainly composed of vinyl chloride in an aqueous medium containing a nonionic surface active agent and in the presence of a monomer-soluble polymerization initiator, according to which the aqueous polymerization medium is admixed with a crosslinked copolymer having carboxyl group such as a copolymer of acrylic acid and diethyleneglycol bisallyl or bismethallyl ether at a moment when the percentage of the monomer conversion is in the range from 1 to 20% so that a polyvinyl chloride resin product of high quality can be obtained having an outstandingly high bulk density and plasticizer absorptivity but still containing an extremely small number of fish eyes.

Abstract: A facial shield assembly for use by dental and medical personnel comprises a transparent plastic shield having a substantially flat front portion and a peripheral border portion extending continuously around the front portion to cover and embrace at least part of a wearer's face. Concave groove structures are provided at the sides of the peripheral border portion to receive a U-shaped band. The groove structures are held on the band by clips which embrace the groove structure. The groove structure and clips have converging walls so that the clip can be wedged onto the groove structures to hold them onto the support band.

Abstract: An adjustable, disposable eye protector is formed from an adhesive-backed ovoid to circular shaped film segment. The conical shaped eye protectors are easy to use for reducing exposure of the eyes to incident light or other potential eye irritants. When formed from polymeric film segments having low ultraviolet (UV) transmittance, the present eye protectors are used effectively to protect eyes from harmful UV radiation.

Abstract: A light-occlusive self adherent eyepatch is disclosed comprising an absorbent pad having a nonadherent lower surface, a thin microporous polymeric film overlying the upper surface of the pad, pressure sensitive adhesive means extending around the periphery of the pad to adhere the patch to the eye socket, and a removable liner protecting the lower surface of the pad and the adhesive prior to use. The polymeric film blocks at least 95 percent of the light of a preselected wavelength impinging on the film, and the overall eyepatch is conformable and moisture vapor permeable.

Abstract: A disposable bib is disclosed. The bib is constructed of a unitary sheet of drapable material. The unitary sheet has opposite top and bottom edges defining a length direction therebetween, and opposite side edges defining a width direction therebetween. A pair of slots extend along opposite side edges of the sheet. The slots define a pair of ties along respective opposite side edges of the sheet for use in securing the bib to a wearer by being tied about the neck.

Abstract: A sports glove which includes a glove body, a plurality of open-ended stub fingers, a palm portion made of a flexible material, a flexible strap attached at a fixed end thereof to the palm portion and having a free end fitted with loop material, and a patch of hook material attached to the stub fingers. The strap is looped about a sports implement to be grasped and the free end of the strap is attached to the glove body by the connection formed between the patches of hook and loop material. In use, the tensile force exerted by the implement on the hand of the user bears against the portion of the free end overlapping the hook material to form a secure attachment, so that a portion of the force is borne by the strap and glove palm. The hook and loop connection can be released quickly by the wearer of the glove and involves merely the straightening of the wearer's fingers.

Abstract: A cap to be worn on the head of a person, comprising a generally hemispherical shell, having a lower edge, which fits over the upper portion of the head of a person; a permanent visor attached to that portion of the shell lower edge which contacts the forehead and extending outwardly therefrom; an extendible visor having essentially the same shape as the visor and movable from a stored position where it mates with the permanent visor to a forward extended position at which it effectively increases the length of the permanent visor; and one or more fasteners which releasably secure the extendible visor in stored mating position against one side of the permanent visor and which releasably secure the extendible visor in forward extended position against one side of the permanent visor.

Abstract: An adjustable connector for attaching a light to a safety helmet, the connector enabling adjustment of the position of the light is selectively illuminate a work area for the helmet's wearer; the connector being suitable to retrofit typical existing safety helmet and light combinations. The connector has two members hinged together with one member inserted into a slot on the helmet and the other member engaging a tongue on the light.

Abstract: A simplified patient transfer mat for aiding the moving of a patient who cannot move oneself. The mat includes an elongated body portion with a substantially rectangular shape adapted to be placed transversely under the patient. The body portion is rigid yet flexible enough to at least partially conform to the contour of a portion of the patient's body. The mat including grasping openings in each end with slots adjacent thereto for securing a strap therethrough to secure the patient to the mat. A pair of mats are placed under the patient forming a transfer method and system to move the patient by sliding or lifting.

Abstract: Apparatus for rocking a baby holding device having four legs supporting same on the floor, comprises a roller for supporting each leg so as to be rollable over the floor, and a rocker device including a base adapted to be non-rotatably supported on the floor, a holder rollably supported on the base and adapted to receive its respective leg of the baby holding device, and an electrical motor for rocking the holder with respect to said base. The rocker device further includes a tape recorder for playing music or the like during the operation of the rocking device.

Abstract: A combination cabinet and folding bed wherein the bed may be stored in the cabinet. The cabinet can be used for other purposes, for example, a drop-down shelf on one or more sides can be provided. The folding bed is a unique arrangement of three pallets that can open out from the cabinet into a continuous horizontal surface or can fold back on each other in substantially a configuration and can be stored in the cabinet in an upside down configuration.

Abstract: A lounge chair with a beach mat resting upon the lounge chair in which the beach mat has a flap at one end which extends for a distance of 1/5 to 1/6 of the length of the beach mat and which accommodates the end of the back of the lounge chair to secure the beach mat on the lounge chair. The mat may be removed from the lounge chair and folded on the side of the flap four or five times to provide a flat roll, and folded one additional time to place the mat in the flap. The flap may thereafter be folded along the longitudinal axis of the mat and fasteners are provided to secure the mat in folded position, thus exposing the open end of the flap to receive articles.

The bottom (1a) of the bag (1) is shaped with a bulge (1a') for cooperation with recess (4), and the top (1d) of the bag (1) has a length and width approximately equal to the length (L) and width (B).Water mattress (10) comprises the above mentioned components and a flexible sheet (15) on top of water mattress bag (1) and a mattress cover (16). Water mattress bag (1) is partly filled with water and extends outwards to the lateral edges (3a) of main mattress member (3) and covers the flat edges (3b) of main mattress member (3) around recess (4).

Abstract: For the treatment, especially the dyeing of fabrics, a container is illustrated, which is subdivided into at least two compartments, and is provided, above the compartments, with a motor-driven winch, the direction of which is reversible. The fabric, which can be in rope form, or in open-width form, runs on the winch, and is moved thereby in combination with a system of or nozzles, which spray the dyeing bath onto the fabric. The fabric is anchored on each end at spaced locations in the container which are substantially opposite to each other, in the container area above the compartments, and is made alternately moveable, gathering from either of the compartments into the other one.

Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning eggs comprising a housing, a roller conveyor, at least the upper run of which extends through said housing, rotary brushes disposed above said upper run of the roller conveyor, at least one driving crank shaft for moving the brushes in an axial direction, and fluid supply means disposed above the brushes. The improvement is that the brushes are coupled two by two by means of a yoke having a bearing arranged to rotate about a journal which is fixedly secured to a frame. Each yoke is further provided with a pin which is connected to a driving rod, and one end of the driving rod is driven by a driving crank-shaft mechanism.

Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning the interior of a pipe while the pipe is carrying a fluid under pressure includes a ball launcher which is operable to remove a ball from a magazine and locate the ball in the flow path of the conduit to be cleaned without blockage for locking of the ball launching device; a ball receiver is located at a distance from the launcher to positively stop and remove both the debris removed from the conduit by the cleaning ball and to remove the ball from the flow line automatically and dispose it in a storage container for subsequent retrieval.

Abstract: A drain-cleaning implement of the type with a rotatable snake extendable for drain insertion. The device includes a mechanism for imparting vibratory motion to the snake at a frequency greater than the rate of rotation such that the snake will more readily pass traps and other obstacles in the drain. The vibration is preferably axial with respect to the snake length. The vibration preferably is actuated during use by applying axial pressure on the snake.

Abstract: A shoe cleaning device which includes a mat positioned within a pan of cleaning fluid, the mat is of pliable open cellular construction wich allows the fluid to be coursed into sole crevices to effect cleaning thereof when the mat is stepped on.

Abstract: An attachment for a sponge mop, the attachment being in the form of an elongated clip which is U-shaped in transverse cross-section and whose legs are resilient, with the outer surface of the clip bight portion carrying a pad. The pad can be of a relatively abrasive material for scrubbing or can be of a buffer/polisher material. The legs of the clip releasably fasten onto opposite sides of the sponge. The attachment (when used as a scrubber) and sponge can both be squeezed by a hinged squeezing mechanism conventionally carried by such mops. The scrubber pad may carry a detergent composition, such detergent being wetted by liquid in the sponge by virtue of holes in the central portion of the clip. The attachment, as a scrubber, is clipped to a sponge mop whenever floor portions are encountered which require greater abrasion than that obtained from the sponge alone and is clipped to the sponge mop (with a different pad thereon) whenever floor buffing/polishing is desired.

Abstract: According to the invention, a resilient element is disposed between interconnected elements on a windshield wiper blade assembly such as cooperating primary and secondary yokes and a wiper blade element. Preferably the resilient element is a tape with a pressure sensitive adhesive backing or a coating that can be sprayed or painted on. The invention also comprehends a method of forming the windshield wiping elements by applying the tape or coating to stock material before the individual elements are stamped and formed.

Abstract: A door closer and holder comprises a cylinder shell having a piston sealingly reciprocable therein. A spring biases the piston toward one end of the shell, and the piston is connected through the ususal apparatus to the door. At the one end the operating rod of a shuttle valve extends into the shell and is engaged by the piston as it approaches the end. The shuttle valve selectively directs the return fluid flow through sweep- and latch-control valves. The assembly also includes a solenoid-operated "bullet" which closes off the return flow to hold the door open. The angle of the openness at which the door is held may be selected by setting a cam on the holder drive pinion which engages a switch to activate the solenoid.

Abstract: The hinge device comprises a recess formed in the rod or stem of a pair of spectacles and accommodating a leafspring. The spring has a conformation such that it pivots on the inner surface of the recess and cooperates with an element, rigidly associated with the front of the spectacles and pivotally connected to the rod. An adjustment screw is provided which extends into the recess and which interferes with the spring to vary the biasing action exerted on the element, when rotating the rod relatively thereto.

Abstract: An apparatus for processing either a fresh or frozen piece of meat, in particular for frenching a rack of lamb. A pair of chain conveyers each incorporating teeth are mounted in adjacent spaced apart relationship on a bench. A piece of meat is transported along by and between the conveyer chains with the teeth thereof gripping the meat. The piece of meat is orientated on the conveyer to dispose a required section thereof to a cutting zone. At a first cutting station liquid jet cutting means are located to either side of the path of the meat to direct a liquid jet onto the predetermined section and cut thereinto. At a second cutting station a liquid jet stripping means is provided to remove the previously cut meat.

Abstract: An apparatus for skinning fish includes a pressure pad carrying an oscillating knife blade and defining a presser surface which faces the circumferential surface of a skinning roller, the pressure pad being mounted to yield against spring force. The oscillating knife blade is guided in a pocket formed in the pressure pad. This arrangement makes it possible to skin fish fillets without any splitting of the tail portion.
