  • Patent number: RE33145
Abstract: The power tool has a magnetic base with superposed permanent magnet assemblies. The upper assembly can be moved relative to the lower assembly to subtract from or reinforce the magnetic field. The upper assembly is somewhat shorter than the lower assembly so even when the upper assembly is positioned to shunt to subtract from the flux of the lower assembly there will be some magnetic flux attracting the base to a ferromagnetic material. When the sensing probe is pushed into the base the electric motor can be switched on to rotate a spindle on which a rotary cutting tool is axially mounted. The tool feed is controlled by a handle which can be mounted on either side of the tool housing.

  • Patent number: 4891860
Abstract: A device for distributing air blast in a cleaning device for textile machines. Blow hoses, adapted to the respective type of machine, are used for cleaning spinning and winding machines arranged in a row. An air distributor box having a valve is provided between the ventilator and the blow hose. The valve interrupts the supply of air blast to a blow hose and directs the air blast into another blow hose during the transition from one type of machine to the other. Flow losses result due to the air distributor box and the valve. In the present device, a housing surrounds the spiral ventilator housing and has an air duct for each blow hose. The ventilator housing is provided with a blast opening and can be turned about the impeller axis. • Patent number: 4891872
Abstract: A fiber drawing process and apparatus in which the fibers are drawn in small increments by passing the fibers in multiple wraps over on rotatably mounted spaced apart spindles having discrete circumferential microterraced surfaces which support the fiber. The terraced surfaces are parallel to the axis of rotation of the spindles and each microterraced surface having a continually increasing radius. The number of microterraces is equal to or less than the number of wraps of the fiber about the spindle. Cylindrical rolls in tandem with the microterraced spindles permit fine adjustments of the draw ratios.

  • Patent number: 4891874
Abstract: A self-loading controlled deflection roll is rotatably mounted with non-self-aligning bearings at either end to bearing housings which, in turn, are pivotally-mounted to support stands. The stationary support beam extending through the roll is pivotally-mounted in the same support stands. At one end of the roll, a drive shaft having a drive gear engaging a ring gear which is mounted on the end of the roll shell concentric with its surface is provided to rotatably drive the roll shell while simultaneously permitting lateral movement of the roll shell relative to the support beam during the self-loading phase of roll oepration.

  • Patent number: 4891875
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a piston of an internal combustion engine includes holding a soluble core to a plurality of first projection portions and a plurality of second projection portions and a plurality of third projection portions formed in a pair of straight portions of a strut member for preventing thermal expansion of the piston. The first projections have a bent portion bent outwardly so as to be along an inner face of the soluble core and the second projection portions have a curved holding portion bent inwardly so as to be along a lower surface and inner surface of the soluble core. By holding the strut member and the soluble core in the piston, the soluble core is melted away and an oil-cooling gallery is formed by pouring water into the mold.

  • Patent number: 4891877
Abstract: A portable tool for compressing a fitting on a high pressure hose comprising identical forged and machined parts that are held in alignment by parallelly positioned bolts that extend therethrough. The parts moved toward each other when a hammer or the like is applied to the outside surface of one of the parts. The parts have aligned mating surfaces each defining a die in their opposed surfaces for compressing a fitting to a hose when the hammer or like force is applied thereto. Shims are used to reduce the size of each die so that the tool can be used with an assortment of hose fittings on a variety of hose sizes.

  • Patent number: 4891879
Abstract: An apparatus for picking up, transferring and placing components by means of a transfer mechanism and a disk-shaped carrier (14), which is rotatably journalled on a carriage (8) and is provided on the lower side with a helical guide track (24) with a cam profile (25). The components (V) to be processed are arranged on the carrier (14) according to a helical line equal to the guide track (24). A supporting carriage (10) is provided with a follower element (16) and an arresting pin (18) which cooperate with the guide track (24) and the cam profile (25), respectively. By a periodical indexing movement of the supporting carriage (10), the carrier (14) is displaced stepwise in the direction of rotation and the direction of translation, as a result of which the components are taken one by one to a given pick-up position.
