  • Patent number: 4891881
Abstract: A tool includes a handle having a cutting blade, a writing implement sharpener and spare blade compartment combined in the one tool. One embodiment permits the blade to have an adjustable disposition while another embodiment fixes the disposition of the blade. In one embodiment the sharpener is located at one of the ends of the tool handle while in the other embodiment the sharpener is located at a mid portion of the handle. In the case where the disposition of the blade is adjustable, a leaf spring biases a lug into an indentation and another lug detent into a recess in the blade. The leaf spring slides above the blade between two separable longitudinal halves of the handle. The sharpener assembly is fixedly retained within the confines of the tool body with an aperture in abutting rims of two shells of the body providing for insertion of the implement to be sharpened. Shavings are discharged exteriorly of the tool through a slot formed in one of the body shells adjacent the blade of the sharpener.

  • Patent number: 4891899
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for securing a fishing reel to a fishing rod. The rectangular foot of a fishing reel sits in flanges of sleeves positioned at either end of the rectangular foot. A threaded shaft passes through these sleeves and screws into a correspondingly threaded inside diameter of a fishing rod grip. A spacing tube is disposed between the sleeves to provide rigidity and enhance the appearance of the inventive system. The end of the threaded shaft opposite the threaded end is terminated by a knob. The knob urges the second sleeve towards the first sleeve as the threaded shaft is screwed into the fishing rod grip. The distance between the sleeves is decreased and the said rectangular foot is clamped between the sleeves. Thus the fishing reel is effectively clamped to the fishing rod.

  • Patent number: 4891920
Abstract: An acoustical wall panel assembly in which each wall panel includes a rectangular metallic frame member, an acoustical core panel fixedly secured within the frame, and a decorative panel. The decorative panel is removably secured to the frame by a plurality of adhesive strip members. The wall panel assembly further includes an upper track having a downwardly extending flange portion and a cover panel secured adjacent the vertical edges of adjacent panels. The cover panel has flange portions overlying the vertical side edges of the decorative panels. The adhesive strip members, the upper and lower tracks, and the flange portions of the cover panels coact to firmly maintain the decorative panels in position relative to the frame members.

  • Patent number: 4891921
Abstract: A sliding door assembly having a frame including a head jamb, a bottom sill, two vertical side jambs and a third center jamb for strength and rigidity of the overall frame. A fixed glass panel is mounted in a portion of said frame and a sliding glass panel mounted upon roller structure is mounted in another portion of the frame. The sliding glass panel has an extending fin around at least three sides thereof for cooperative association with weather seal structure provided with the non-movable portions of the assembly. The aluminum sill structure has self-draining slots therein and a replaceable plastic member is provided with the sill for ease of sliding of the sliding glass panel, as well as easy replacement thereof, if needed. Draining slots are also provided in the plastic member which are staggered relative to the slots in the aluminum to minimize wind blow through. The door assembly has an aluminum exterior and a wood interior, with the wood portion being removably attached by spring clips.

  • Patent number: 4891922
Abstract: An upright panel having an upwardly-opening top channel extending along the upper edge, which channel is closed off by a top cap. Spring retainers releasably engage the underside of the top cap, and in turn releasably secure the top cap to the panel. Each spring retainer has sidewardly-spaced upwardly cantilevered spring legs which have hooks for engagement within retaining channels provided on the underside of the top cap. An arched spring part extends sidewardly between the spring legs adjacent the lower ends thereof. This arched part is normally positioned downwardly from the underside of the top cap. Sidewardly-spaced downwardly cantilevered spring legs extend downwardly from the upper spring legs, and at their lower ends have sidewardly projecting cams which project under the channel top flanges. During removal of the top cap, the upper and lower spring legs initially jointly deflect inwardly about the top hooks, and this causes resilient deflection of the arched part until it abuts the top cap.

  • Patent number: 4891923
Abstract: A building structure comprises interconnectable structural building elements (1, 2, 3), said structural building elements (1, 2, 3) comprising, for the interconnection, female and male edge portions (4, 5) for engagement with the adjacent structural building elements (1, 2, 3). The structural building elements (1, 2, 3) are formed by two rigid surface layers (6, 7) and a continuous insulating layer (8) located therebetween. The male edge portions (4) are formed by the substantially continuous insulating layer (8) and by the two rigid surface layer (6, 7), each of which comprise a step (9), on the surfaces (10, 11) turned away from the insulating layer (8) in the transition between the male edge portions (4) and the other portions of the structural building elements (1, 2, 3).

  • Patent number: 4891924
Abstract: To avoid the need for nailing through tiles and other cladding elements, they are formed with oppositely directed hook formations at opposite edges for engaging supports, which may be retaining profiles mounted on battens. For example, an upwardly facing hook formation is engageable under a downwardly directed supporting tongue of a profile when the element is tilted. It can then be pivoted about that tongue, into its cladding configuration. Its other hook formation snap-engages behind the tongue of the adjacent supports, which already engages the upwardly facing hook portion of another cladding element. Each support profile extends for most the width of one or more elements and provides support.

Abstract: A construction block comprising a generally rectangular hollow body having a pair of faces joined by side edges. There are spacing flanges extending about the side edges around the perimeter of the block adjacent and essentially parallel to the faces to ensure correct spacing of the blocks when arranged in a wall construction. Cavities for connecting adjacent blocks together are provided at each corner of the block. There is a spanning member having ends adapted for engagement in the cavities of adjacent blocks in order to connect blocks into a unified wall structure.

  • Patent number: 4891926
Abstract: An improved walk-through scaffolding frame is constructed of components which may be assembled together to form an erected frame and disassembled to pass through a narrow opening such as a manhole or some other narrow access opening to a larger enclosure. The improved walk-through scaffolding is constructed with a pair of generally triangular-shaped upright support members and a connecting crosspiece. The upright support members each define a single downwardly directed tubular leg as well as upwardly extending inner and outer support posts. The crosspiece includes downwardly directed connectors which telescopically engage both the inner and outer support posts of each of the pair of upright support members and an upwardly directed connector at its outer extremity for engaging a downwardly directed leg of another walk-through frame located thereabove.

  • Patent number: 4891930
Abstract: To protect a round bale of hay from moisture, the bale is engaged by a machine attached to the three point hitch of a conventional farm tractor and then elevated with the hitch. An impervious strip, which is supplied on a roll, is attached at its end to the bale near one end of the bale, and then the machine rotates the bale, causing the strip material to pay off of the roll and wrap around the bale. The roll, which is on a dispenser, is maneuvered along the bale such that the strip wraps spirally around the bale with some overlap between adjacent convolutions of the strip. This forms a sleeve-like cover around the bale for the entire length of the bale. The machine includes a frame which connects to the three point hitch of the tractor and has a horizontal bearing in which a spear shaft rotates. The shaft is quite long and solid, so that as it rotates it may be driven into the bale from one end of the bale.
