  • Patent number: 4899493
Abstract: A roller assembly is provided as an easily replaceable assembly for use with a sliding door. The roller assembly includes a roller or wheel mounted in a roller housing and carried in a cantilevered manner at one end of a leaf spring. The opposite end of the leaf spring is permanently bent to form a hook which is engageable with a mounting tab on an upper or lower door edge through a mounting insertion gap in the door edge such that the leaf spring extends across a bearing tab. When the hook is engaged on the mounting tab the roller is carried in a roller receiving pocket in the door edge such that the leaf spring bears against a bearing tab. The leaf spring allows the roller to move into and out of a roller receiving pocket to accommodate imperfections and obstructions in a stationary track on the door frame in which the roller travels.

  • Patent number: 4899495
Abstract: A disc wheel sanding machine includes a disc wheel rotated by a drive shaft. The sanding machine has a dust extraction device with a dust extraction hood comprising an extraction chamber which surrounds the disc wheel. The hood of the dust extraction device ends above the disc wheel bottom, and a closing wall in the form of a bristle ring or such like protrudes from the bottom of the hood and can be positioned on the work piece. The bristle ring only encircles a part of the periphery of the disc wheel and forms a suction slot diverging outwardly toward the front end in the direction of rotation of the disc wheel and is open toward the work piece. The sanding dust is sucked through the suction slot at the disc wheel periphery into the extraction chamber. The rear end of the bristle ring with regard to the direction of rotation closes in on the disc wheel periphery and forms a rear seal for the suction slot.

  • Patent number: 4899496
Abstract: A child enclosure includes J-shaped frame base members that extend beyond the footprint of a fabric compartment preventing tipping. The fabric compartment of the enclosure closely fits the upright corner posts using tubes allowing a side support rod to be inserted in the upper side rails of the enclosure preventing downward side flex. The close fitting of the post tubes provides increased support to the side rails. The fabric compartment corners are covered at the top edge by a fabric panel to prevent a child from standing up in the corner to and provide increased strength to the side panels enhancing the side panel flex prevention feature. A rectangular frame is stabilized along the short axis by a separator support that prevents the short axis from collapsing. The rectangular frame also includes a U-shaped end piece that provides further support to the compartment along the end.

  • Patent number: 4899508
Abstract: A building system integrating the combination of aluminum and steel structural elements for the efficient assembly of stone and glass panels in a curtain wall system which is conspicuous for its lack of a grid appearance. A plurality of discrete steel clips are utilized for securing stone panels to supporting mullions. A plurality of aluminum members are secured to structural mullions whereby glass may be mounted thereto. The stone and glass panels are sealably secured adjacent one another while a glazing adapter is constructed for assembly over the structural mullions there behind. A splice facilitates mating engagement of the aluminum mullions to permit relative movement therebetween. In this manner, both steel and aluminum may be utilized most efficiently for the assembly of stone and glass panels in a curtain wall system with improved structural and aesthetic qualities.

Abstract: A device for the control of an open-end spinning element, including a pivoted control lever (4) is provided which is capable of assuming three different working positions. In a production position the control lever brings a first drive, running at production speed, into driving contact in the operation of the open-end spinning element. In a braking position the control lever brings a brake to act upon the spinning element. The control lever in a piecing position brings a second drive which runs at a lower speed than the first drive into driving contact with the open-end spinning element. At least the positions determining the production and the piecing position of the control lever are provided with a common control element, capable of being moved back and forth in the direction of movement of the free end of the control lever between at least two switching positions.

  • Patent number: 4899529
Abstract: A method for winding a covered yarn in a covered yarn manufacturing machine. A non-elastic yarn is supplied from a wrapping yarn bobbin and is wrapped around a core yarn made of an elastic yarn to form a covered yarn. The covered yarn is traversed by a traverse guide along a winding bobbin and is wound around the winding bobbin. The traverse guide is displaced along the winding bobbin to a position outside a normal traversing region when the non-elastic yarn on the wrapping yarn bobbin has almost consumed. Thereafter, the covered yarn manufacturing machine is stopped. Then, the consumed wrapping yarn bobbin of non-elastic yarn at supply is replaced by a new wrapping yarn bobbin of non-elastic yarn. The covered yarn manufacturing machine is restarted. The above-described steps of the displacing, the stopping, the replacing and the restarting are repeated with regard to one winding bobbin.

Abstract: An air turbine starter for use in starting a turbine engine includes a pawl and ratchet clutch having a movable member which selectively prevents engagement of the clutch while providing a pawl raceway surface, or allows clutch engagement. No-load acceleration of the air turbine starter is scheduled to ensure that drop-in speed of the centrifugally responsive pawls is not reached by the ratchet member while clutch engagement is being permitted. The movable member is pneumatically controlled in timed coordination with acceleration of the air turbine starter to prevent crash engagement of the clutch. Clutch ratcheting is also substantially prevented.

If necessary, the tapped hot flow qc is mixed with a flow of cold fuel qf tapped from the low pressure pump output to form a lukewarm mixture qr for return to the tank.

Abstract: A steam-injected free-turbine type of gas turbine is disclosed. In order to avoid the necessity of redesigning the compressor/core turbine, the shaft of the core turbine is modified to provide additional load output. As steam is injected into the system the resulting excess power of the core turbine is taken out of the system by coupling the compressor output shaft with a load. Thus, the core turbine operates as a single shaft turbine in addition to the existing power turbine. A control provides control of the load output of the two turbine output shafts so that the compressor/turbine stays in the matched operating domain.

  • Patent number: 4899539
Abstract: A flow mixer and flame stabilizer structure for an afterburner of a turbofan engine is disclosed having a variable mixer to mix a portion of the cold flow with the hot flow gasses and which also forms a flame stabilizer for a secondary afterburner fuel injection manifold which injects fuel into the cold flow air during afterburner operation. The device forms a flame stabilizer around the secondary, annular fuel injection manifold and has a generally "U" shaped cross-section. One of the legs forming the "U" shape is fixed, while the opposite leg is movable so as to vary the downstream facing opening between the legs. The movable leg also blocks a portion of the cold flow duct to generate localized increases in pressure upstream of the stabilizer. An air scoop located in this upstream portion communicates with the primary afterburner flame stabilizer to direct pressurized air to cool the primary flame stabilizer.
