  • Patent number: RE33179
Abstract: A toe adjustment assembly for adjusting the toe in the rear wheels of a vehicle having an independent rear suspension including: a cam device operatively associated with a lateral control arm, a slot provided in fixed relationship with the vehicle frame, and, cam engaging surfaces associated with the slot. When the cam device is rotated, it coacts with the cam engaging surfaces to cause relative lateral shifting of a shaft portion of the cam device. This lateral shifting of the cam device shaft portion causes lateral shifting of the associated control arm and thus toe adjustment of an associated wheel.

  • Patent number: RE33181
Abstract: This invention relates to a loop transmission system which has a plurality of stations connected to a loop transmission path to transmit data among the stations. In the transmission frame to be sent out from the sending station, specific information is included for identifying each frame and this information is held in the sending station. When the transmission frame returns to the sending station after being transmitted through the loop transmission path, the specific information in the frame is received and compared with the information held in the station and, if they coincide, it is decided that the transmission frame has been correctly received by the intended receiving station.

  • Patent number: 4907300
Abstract: A helmet with twin visors movable between raised and lowered positions has a locking mechanism for each visor which automatically locks the visor in the raised or lowered position. An operating lever for each visor can be operated with one hand by the wearer, a single movement of the lever first releasing the lockikng mechanism and then moving the visor from one to the other of its raised and lowered positions. Each locking mechanism may comprise a cam plate fixed to the helmet shell and two pawls carried by the visor arm and spring-biased to engage the cam to lock the visor in the raised or lowered position respectively. The operating lever engages the appropriate pawl to disengage it from the cam plate and rotate the visor arm, on movement of the lever in the appropriate direction. The lower position of each visor may be adjustable, for example to accommodate an oxygen mask fitted to the helmet. The mechanism may also be used on a helmet fitted with a single visor.

  • Patent number: 4907318
Abstract: An apron drafting system (A) is disclosed which includes upper and lower drafting aprons (10, 12) between which a sliver (S) is delivered. An upper fiber control plate (20) and a lower fiber control plate (22) contain the fiber contacting apron runs (10a, 12a) in fiber contacting relation by preventing loss of fiber control, particularly in the case of large fiber tuft deliveries. Opposing concave surfaces (20a, 22a) contain the inward deflections of the apron within a prescribed fiber control range. Preferably, side plates (30, 32) of the drafting system are transparent to provide a window through which fiber delivery may be detected. A sliver guide (52) is mounted on a removable shelf (50) so that accumulation of sliver between a nip (56) of top and bottom apron rolls (14, 18) does not break the sliver guide but pushes it rearward for disengagement.

  • Patent number: 4907323
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for producing a woven biased fabric in which the structural fibers are skewed from the fabric centerline. The method and apparatus are particularly designed for producing a woven biased structural fabric in which the structural fibers are oriented about 45.degree. to the fabric centerline, where the flimsy, open-knit nature of the fabric makes handling extremely difficult. Broadly speaking, the apparatus includes a fabric feeding station, slitting station, and winding station. The feeding station holds a roll of conventional structural fabric (parallel and perpendicular structural fibers) woven in a tube configuration and flattened into the roll form. The feeding station rotates the roll in a vertical plane as the fabric unwinds in a horizontal direction. The slitting station includes a cutter and a pair of slatter rolls, the rolls moving the tube of fabric in the horizontal direction while rotating the tube of fabric.

Abstract: An axial support device for a cylinder with rotating sleeve comprising a fixed shaft (2) carried at each end (20) by a support member (3) in a fixed frame (1), a tubular cylindrical sleeve (4) and a series of aligned holding shoes (22), for adjustment of the profile of the sleeve (4), which is equipped at each end with a centering bearing (6) comprising an outer ring (62) and an inner ring (61). Each centering bearing (6) forms an axial stop resting on the support member (3) by means of a floating support device exerting axial pressure uniformly distributed on the inner ring by following angular offsets of the bearing axis (60) relative to the axis (25) of the corresponding end (20) of the shaft (2) which result from the respective deformations of the sleeve and of the shaft due to stresses applied during operation. The invention is especially applicable to a support cylinder in a rolling mill.

Abstract: A sintered body assembly having an inner section and an outer section is formed from independent inner and outer compacts corresponding to the inner and outer sections, respectively. The inner and outer compacts are so shaped that a predetermined clearance is provided therebetween. The outer compact is larger in shrinkage percentage at the time of sintering than the inner compact such that the clearance is filled by the compacts at the time of sintering thereby allowing the compacts to be formed into a single sintered body or an integral unit.

Abstract: A hinge pin is temporarily held on a first hinge member on the automobile body by means of a hinge pin support mechanism. A door to be attached to the automobile body is held in position, and a second hinge member on the door is brought into engagement with the first hinge member. The hinge pin is pressed into the second hinge member through the first hinge member to couple the door to the automobile door. The hinge pin support mechanism includes a hinge pin retaining member including a ring separably joined to a plurality of legs. When the hinge pin is pressed into the hinge members, the ring is sheared off from the legs and rides in a peripheral groove defined in the hinge pin. The ring then engages one of the hinge members to prevent the hinge pin from being removed from the hinge members. The door can automatically be attached to the automobile body by a door attaching mechanism and detached from the automobile body by a door detaching mechanism.

Abstract: A device to facilitate the joining of a male proximal end of a guidewire to the female end of an extension wire. The device has a relatively flat body with a guiding groove in the upper surface with two aligned sections, the goove sections tapering inwardly toward the intersection thereof. One of the groove sections is adapted to receive the male end of the guidewire and one groove is adapted to receive the female end of the extension. One, preferably two, flexible tabs are secured to the upper surface of the body to maintain one of the ends within its respective groove section. The device and/or the connecting wires can be disengaged by the rotation thereof with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 4907336
Abstract: In a method of the present invention, a wire stent, having a cylindrical shape defined by a series of alternating longitudinally overlapping opposing loops, is fabricated from a wire formed into a planar serpentine configuration. The wire is centered over a semi-cylindrical trough in a flat plate and then pressed into the trough by a forming bar so that a portion of the wire assumes the semi-cylindrical shape. A pulling tool, having a hook at one end, is engaged at the hook with the exposed loops of the serpentine configuration for pulling the exposed loops over the exposed portion of the forming bar to form a generally cylindrical shape from the wire. Once the wire is extracted from the trough and the forming bar is removed, a folded balloon catheter is inserted through the cylindrical shape and the wire is tightly pressed about the catheter.
