Abstract: A new variety of Dendranthema grandiflora (Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat.) for the outdoor garden and for spring flowering greenhouse pot plant culture, characterized by long-lasting blooms which are also early opening, 3.5 cm in diameter, full pompon, white with light yellow center, and resistant to pinking at lower temperatures, on plants of an informally mounded plant habit with small to medium sized leaves on stiff stems.
Abstract: A vigorous rose plant of the hybrid tea class obtained as a seedling from a seed parent entitled "Coquette" and a pollen parent entitled "Jack Frost" provides abundant long-lasting solid white flowers which maintain their true color from flower opening through petal drop on a continuous basis when grown in a greenhouse.
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of Hybrid Tea rose plant is provided which forms in abundance attractive fully double long lasting blossoms which are strawberry red on the upper surface and cardinal red on the under surface. The plant exhibits vigorous vegetation and an erect growth habit. The new variety exhibits an excellent capability for greenhouse forcing during cut flower production. Excellent resistance to fungal diseases also is manifest.

Abstract: Apparatus for treating fluids flowing at high velocity, for mass and heat transfer, for gas-liquid contacting and for contaminant particulate, mist or fume separation, including a plurality of perforated or unperforated cylinders arrayed staggered in rows perpendicular to the direction of flow of the fluid. The elements are spatially separated from each other. Diagonal by-pass flow through the array is blocked by a partition extending from each element generally parallel to the direction of flow of fluid bisecting the space between a pair of elements of an adjacent row with the elements of the pair symmetrically spaced with respect to the partition. Also, a method of removing contaminants from gas by passing the gas through this array between and injecting a liquid into the array. Capture of the contaminants by the drops is effected because of the difference in acceleration of each as the contaminated gas passes in and out of the gap between each cylinder and its adjacent partitions.

Abstract: A detonating cord transport package wherein detonating cord is installed on a plurality of separator-support members so as to provide crossover locations at frequent intervals at which crossover locations there is incorporated means for stopping any detonation that occurs, with the result that such detonation will be confined to a relatively short length of detonating cord and will also be confined to the container in which the detonating cord transport package is disposed.
Abstract: A thin-walled easily opened container and method of making the same for commercial food products that includes congruent mating and overlapping sections crimped over a cover panel.
Abstract: A fluidic oscillator includes a chamber having a common inflow and outflow opening into which a jet is issued in a generally radial direction. After impinging upon the far chamber wall the jet is redirected to form a vortex on each side of the incoming jet. The vortices alternate in strength and position to direct outflow through the common opening along one side and then the other of the inflowing jet. A spray-forming output chamber is arranged to receive the pulsating outflows from the aforementioned or other fluid oscillator and establish an output vortex which is thereby alternately spun in opposite directions. An outlet opening from the output chamber issues fluid in a sweeping spray pattern determined by the vectorial sum of a first vector, tangential to the output vortex and a function of the spin velocity, and a second vector, directed radially from the vortex and determined by the static pressure in the chamber.
Abstract: An elastic foam football 10 with lengthwise spiral grooves 20 increasing in width and depth towards the middle of the ball for improved handling.
Abstract: A dynamic engine performance analyzer system measures engine torque and power continuously from an absorption brake and produces a statistically corrected and deskewed value of torque and power for each of a number of RPM bands. Torque and power values are integrated during each N shaft revolutions as the engine is slowly accelerated through a range of interest. The data are accumulated such that for each 100 RPM wide band in the range, there is a statistical mean value produced of torque and of power. Each 100 RPM band element represents the mean or average of several separate data measurements. A deskewing operation compensates for the fact that the samples may not all be taken evenly throughout each 100 RPM average band during acceleration. The inertial effects of acceleration and deceleration are compensated by adjusting the torque and power values upwards during acceleration and downwards during deceleration.
Abstract: Gas transport agents such as artificial blood containing a perfluorocyclocarbon and an amine oxide are disclosed. These compositions have been found to provide transparent emulsions or solutions for use in oxygen transport, particularly in animals. Large concentrations of perfluorocarbons may be employed even up to 50% or more by volume in preparing emulsions, microemulsions or solutions. The emulsions or solutions have been found to be very stable at room temperature storage conditions thereby providing significant advantages.
Abstract: A method is provided for making alkylhalosilanes by effecting reaction between an alkyl halide, such as methyl chloride and powdered silicon in the presence of a copper-zinc-tin catalyst. Significant improvements in reaction rate and product selectivity are achieved when copper is employed at a critical weight percent relative to silicon and critical weight ratios of tin and zinc are employed relative to copper.
