Abstract: The motion picture branching method is superseded by an animation method which enables rapid and repeated switching of multiple tracks of different camera-originated animation of the same character during continuous action in a scene, and enables branching at the termination of an action to multiple actions or scenes. This method is the basis of a double-circuit video system that enables a player to repeatedly touch or hit an animated character during a continuous action as displayed on a projection screen or television monitor and thus change the action repeatedly. Another system embodiment enables the player to swing a racket before the screen or television monitor, hit the mid-air projected image of a perspective ball animated action, return the ball back to the animated character opponent, and play a simulated game during the the player exercises the same skills used to play the game simulated.

Abstract: A wheel lock control system is described for a wheel braking system that includes a motor driven actuator for applying controlled hydraulic brake pressure to the wheel brake that is determined by motor current. The motor current corresponding to the brake pressure producing the maximum possible braking effort during each brake pressure application is identified and a value related thereto is reapplied to the motor after an incipient wheel lockup condition is sensed.

Abstract: .[.A circuit for rotating a multibit binary word in either the right or the left direction includes a scale factor decoder receiving a scale factor word which specifies the magnitude of the rotation and a direction control signal which specifies the direction of rotation and providing a shift control word which is the same as the scale factor word when a right rotation is specified but providing a shift control word which is the complement of the scale factor word when a left rotation is specified. The circuit also includes a plurality of input buffers receiving an input word and providing corresponding input data, and a one-bit rotator receiving the input data and the direction control signal and rotating the input data in the right direction by one position when a left rotation is specified or providing the input data without rotation when a right rotation is specified.

Abstract: In a detecting and compensating circuit of an apparatus for reproducing a digital signal separated by frame synchronizing signals into frames, each having a predetermined frame period, the combination comprising a detecting circuit which detects the frame synchronizing signals and generates respective detection signals in response thereto, a gating circuit which receives the detection signals and which gates the latter in response to gating signals, and a windowing circuit which generates window signals of a predetermined length in response to the detection signals and which supplies the window signals as the gating signals to the gating circuit.

Abstract: A device for stopping a fallen skier. The device may be worn by a snow skier, the device having a surface which will provide a braking action against the snow if the skier falls. In a preferred embodiment, the device includes a plurality of foam blocks arranged on a rectangular piece of fabric which may be strapped onto the skier's back. The blocks have an outwardly pointing wedge shape which provides an outward edge which can produce a braking force when in contact with the snow surface.

Abstract: Pants for use when performing work in which sitting and kneeling take place frequently, as in roofing work, the pants having effective special construction in the seat and knee areas.

Abstract: A form fitting disposable garment shield and an automated method for making the shield from a coil of laminated material. The shield is comprised of a pair of identical crescent shaped panels joined together by a seam which is adjacent to a concave border of the shield. The outer facing surfaces of the panels are moisture absorbing and the inward facing surfaces, which confront each other, are non-absorbent. On the inward facing non-absorbent surfaces of the panels are pieces of adhesive tape with peelable outer coverings for attaching the shield to a garment. The method for making the shield comprises the steps of uncoiling, blanking, forming, heat bonding and trimming portions of the laminated strip in a continuous automated manner.

Abstract: A firefighter's garment which includes an outer shell and an inner liner. The inner liner has an extension member which extends therefrom and which extends from the outer shell. The extension member may hang downwardly from the outer shell to indicate that the inner liner is present within the outer shell. The extension member is attachable to the outer shell to indicate that the inner liner is present within the outer shell. A firefighter's garment of this invention may be a firefighter's coat or a firefighter's trousers.

Abstract: A breast-feeding garment includes a cover and a pliable shoulder clip attachable to the cover for giving the cover stability. The shoulder clip includes a back shoulder engaging portion connected to a front shoulder engaging portion by an internal deformable wire. The triangularly-shaped cloth cover includes a firm, soft extension pad in one corner which helps to spread the cover. Hook and loop fastening means are employed to attach the front shoulder engaging portion of the shoulder clip to the soft extension pad of the cover. The cover is formed from a see-through, breathable fabric but includes an opaque privacy portion near the center for concealing the breast-feeding child. When not in use, the garment folds up and fits neatly into a carrying bag which can be tied to a stroller, diaper bag, purse or the like.

Abstract: A headband with earmuffs where, in preferred form, the headband is fabricated from a stretchable material configured to incorporate a generally flat insulative pad interiorly of that band for each of the wearer's ears. Preferably the headband is fabricated from a one piece fabric blank folded upon itself to establish a generally tubular cross-sectional configuration with the insulative pads stitched to that blank interiorly of the tubular headband.

Abstract: A fastening device for securing a pair of socks together includes a first fastener attached to one sock of the pair and a second fastener attached to the other sock of the pair, said fasteners being releasably engageable with one another. The fastening device prevents the loss of socks due to separation from one another and the inconsistent pairing of socks of a similar type.

Abstract: The present invention provides a full body hosiery garment. The garment contains a panty portion and two tubular leg portions with adjoining foot portions. The panty, leg, and foot portions are formed of spun nylon or other pantyhose material. An upper camisole portion is connected to the panty portion to provide a smooth contour with the panty portion to define a non-binding waist area.

Abstract: A disperse dye composition comprising (a) a pyridone monoazo compound of the formula (I), ##STR1## wherein X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 are each hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or others, and R.sup.1 is alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl or anilino, and (b) a pyridone monoazo compound of the formula (II). ##STR2## wherein X.sup.3 and X.sup.4 are each hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or others, and R.sup.2 is alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl or anilino, optionally together with (c) a quinophthalone compound of the formula (III), ##STR3## wherein Y is hydrogen or bromine, and the ring A is unsubstituted or substituted benzene or naphthalene ring, which is useful as a yellow dye component for dyeing or printing hydrophobic fiber materials with superior dye bath stability and level dyeing property.

Abstract: A passive dispenser having the capability of varying the amount of solution added to the toilets flush water such time the toilet is flushed. This variability of dosage is obtained by changing the volume of solution discharge during the flushing period of the toilet by means of sets of internal grooves, a movable baffle and specifically located fixed aperture. Said invention can help to reduce water consumption, and is equipped with its own hanger for easy installation.

Abstract: A container for distributing doses of a treatment fluid to a mass of water in a toilet tank which has a level which falls and rises upon slushing of the toilet tank comprises a fluid chamber at the top, a neck at the bottom, and a dosing device mounted in the neck. The fluid chamber contains the treatment fluid and a first mass of air above the treatment fluid, and has a single opening therein. The neck points downwardly into the toilet tank for alternate immersion and removal from the mass of water as the level of the mass of water rises and falls, is in fluid communication with the fluid chamber through the single opening in the chamber, and has a free edge.

Abstract: A bathroom waste collection and disposal unit for mounting on a floor of an enclosure includes a tank of unitary construction having a horizontal portion defining a refuse reservoir and a vertical portion open to the horizontal portion for refuse gases and to accommodate a pump. A toilet is mounted on the top surface of the horizontal portion in fluid communication with the reservoir of the horizontal portion of the tank. The horizontal portion includes a plurality of columns within the reservoir extending between the floor and top wall of the horizontal portion. The tank also includes a baffle housing for enclosing the float of the refuse pump to meter the rate of flow of water flowing away from the pump float as the pump is actuated to discharge refuse from the reservoir.

Abstract: A bathing apparatus includes a bath tank formed in a casing having a bottom portion formed under the bath tank and a back portion formed rearwardly of the tank, the casing being in fluid communication with the bath tank through a plurality of apertures formed in the tank, an automatic heating starter automatically actuates a heating coil formed in the casing bottom portion for warming water in the casing, a thermostat for keeping a constant warm water temperature in the casing, a solenoid inlet valve controlled by a main switch of an electrical circuit which is opened to direct water into the tank and is automatically closed by a float switch mounted on the casing back portion and actuated by rising water level in the casing, and a solenoid drain valve which is automatically opened to drain bathed water when the main switch is automatically switched off, as pulled by a hook formed on an upper end of a guide rod having a float on a lowest end portion, when someone leaves the bath tank to lower the water level

Abstract: A convertible sofabed is a sofa when closed in a sitting position and a bed when opened in a sleeping position. A retractable support structure can be telescoped from the sofa to form, in conjunction with the sofa, a bed that is longer than the depth of the sofa in its sitting position. The mattress in the sleeping position is folded in three portions, a fixed portion, a central portion and an outer portion. The outer portion forms a sofaback in the sitting position and the central portion folds to lie on top of the fixed portion to form the seat of the sofabed. A pillow folds in two to support the sofaback and the seat at their junction when the sofabed is closed in the sitting position, and unfolds to serve as a pillow for the bed when the sofabed is opened into the sleeping position.

Abstract: Support structure for sofa beds, with pull-out, raisable auxiliary bed, which comprises an upper frame carrying support means for a mattress and connected, by means of rods linked as a parallelogram, to two lower bars transverse to the larger dimension of the frame, blocking means being present for the raised position and balancing means for the weight of the frame, the sofa bed being equipped with a seat-back adjustable in position.

Abstract: A motorized convertible seat-bed to electrically shift the seat-bed from between its seat position and its bed position. The seat-bed including a drive unit and a pair of mounting plates connected to a seat support and back support pivotally interconnected by a pivot pin. The drive unit including a worm gear and slide assembly having a worm gear follower wherein rotation of the worm gear causes the slide assembly to shift along a longitudinal track carried by the frame side of the seat bed. A pivoted drive arm is interconnected between the slide assembly and the pivot pin such that as the slide assembly is shifted from its fully extended position to its fully retracted position the drive arm applies an upward force on the pivot pin to pivot the plates and supports into a bed position.

Abstract: A system for transferring a patient in a medical facility from one support surface to another support surface consists of a pliable web, the opposite ends of which are wound about a pair of cylindrical rollers. The cylindrical rollers are rotatably engaged between a drive motor and an idler bearing disposed on each longitudinal edge of one support so that the pliable web extends across substantially the entire surface thereof. A maneuverable table is similarly equipped on each longitudinal edge with a drive motor and idler bearing. The table is positioned alongside one edge of the one support and the cylindrical roller removed from between the drive motor and idler bearing at that edge of the one support and inserted between the drive motor and idler bearing on the remote edge of the table. As the drive motor on the remote edge of the table is actuated the cylindrical roller is rotated, thereby winding the web thereon and simultaneously transferring the patient from the one support to the table.

The patient chair suspension assembly (10) is characterized by suspending support means (12) for attaching to each of the chair portions (30,40,50) and supporting the chair portions in a reclining position while the chair portions are suspended.

Abstract: A portable bassinet made of cardboard which has outer, canopy-housing and an inner box or bassinet-proper for selected insertions into the outer box. One of the four side walls of the inner box is connected to the rest of the inner box only along its lower horizontal edge surface, with the rest of this side wall being free, in order to provide a pivotal safety wall. The safety wall is pivoted to a downward position when the inner box is used as a bassinet, with an infant placed therein, whereby the inner box is prevent from being fully inserted into the outer main box or canopy-housing, in order to prevent accidental suffocation. Handles are provided for aiding in the carrying of the assembly. A first handle is provided on a side wall surface of the inner box which cooperates with a cutout or opening in the corresponding side wall of the outer box.

Abstract: A convertible infant's crib comprises a headboard and footboard, each consisting of separable upper and lower units formed of interconnecting slats and panels and having integral legs. The upper endboard units may serve to form the headboard and footboard of a youth bed. The crib has removable sides and a mattress support structure adapted for lowering the mattress height as the infant grows. In order that the same mattress may be used in both the crib and the bed, the crib mattress support structure may also be used in the converted youth bed.

Abstract: A pillow and a slot are added to an otherwise conventional hammock. The pillow is mounted atop the hammock adjacent a longitudinal edge, mid-length of the hammock so that the transverse axis of symmetry of hammock bisects the pillow. The slot has a predetermined longitudinal extent and is also positioned mid-length of the hammock and is bisected by the transverse axis of symmetry. The pillow and slot are on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis of symmetry of the hammock. A first individual standing in the slot may massage a second recumbent individual whose head is supported by the pillow and whose feet may extend through the slot and rest atop the floor below the hammock or may rest atop the hammock on opposite sides of the first individual.

Abstract: A bed side-guard assembly for a bed with bed frame memebrs comprises a side rail which extends generally along the length of the bed in the vertical plane. The side rail is supported by downwardly depending legs. A cross brace extends generally across the width of the bed in the horizontal plane. The ends of the cross brace have receiving means to receive the side rail legs. Attaching means for securing the cross brace to the bed frame members are mounted on each end of the cross brace. The attaching means includes a housing and resilient means. The housing features a nose end which fits beneath a portion of the bed frame member while the resilient means grippingly engages the bed frame member between the nose end and the resilient means.

Abstract: A pillow includes an outer sheet which forms a pocket to receive a filling material. The sheet is substantially impermeable to the filling material and is formed to include at least one vent opening. A cover having an opening therein is disposed over the vent opening. A cover having an opening therein is disposed over the vent opening. The cover is movable between a first orientation in which the vent opening and the opening in the cover are out of alignment and a second orientation in which the vent opening and the opening in the cover are in alignment. The filling material is impregnated with a medicament or the like to expose a person or animal resting on the pillow to the medicament through the vent opening.

Abstract: There is disclosed an orthopedic cervical pillow which is intended to be used to support the neck and head of a person. The pillow is generally rectangular and is made of an upper casing and a lower casing each being sewn together along their edges to constitute the outer cover of the pillow. The pillow is filled with fibre. In addition, it includes two or more elongated pieces of woven material which are disposed lengthwise and upstanding relative to the pillow. Each of these pieces are sewn along their upper and lower edges by continuous lateral stitching respectively to the upper and lower casings. The pieces of woven material are distributed inside the pillow to constitute one central, one wider and one narrower lateral tubular shaped compartments which extend lengthwise inside the pillow. The narrower lateral compartment is wider than the central compartment.

Abstract: A convoluted foam pad for supporting a reclining human body on a bed including an area for supporting the shoulders of a body, an area for supporting the tail portion of a body and a general support area surrounding the shoulder and tail support areas for supporting the remainder of the body. In one embodiment the support area is formed by peaks arranged in rows, wherein each peak has a flat top and is spaced from any adjacent peak in the same row by a valley. The average valley thickness of the valleys in both the shoulder support area and the tail support area are less than the average valley thickness of the valleys in the general support area. In another embodiment, the shoulder and tail support areas are formed by parallel ribs separated and bounded by areas comprising flat-topped peaks and valleys.

Abstract: A bed supported tray apparatus includes a planar support plate defined by a rear and forward end edge and spaced parallel side edges. First and second mounting flanges are mounted adjacent the end edge on the respective first and second side edges mounted orthogonally relative to a top surface of a support plate, with a planar support tray fixedly mounted to upper terminal ends of the mounting flanges and oriented parallel to the top surface of the support plate, with a perimeter flange formed coextensively about a perimeter portion of the support tray extending above the top surface of the support tray for mounting the relation between an upper and lower mattress of a bed structure. Modifications of the invention include pivot legs mounted to the top surface of the support plate to provide enhanced stability to the organization when positioned between the upper and lower mattress.

Abstract: A tool adapted for use with a drill for installing screw anchors in concrete or masonry walls or the like having a sleeve type body, a bit holder slidably located in the body, a drill bit with a handle secured in the bit holder, a coil spring seated on a collar of the bit holder and extending around the bit, a nut driver secured to the front end of the body, a set screw to retain the drill bit in the bit holder and also to serve as a means to advance and retract the drill bit, and a cutout comprised of a longitudinal slot, a retainer notch and at least one depth notch. The longitudinal slot is adjoined by both the retainer notch and the depth notch through the use of curved sidewalls which allow the tool operator to use a smooth, uniform, and efficient motion to adjust extension of the drill bit.

Abstract: A hinge rotatably connecting a paintable closure panel to a closure panel jamb of a vehicle body panel of a motor vehicle and enabling temporary extending motion of the hinge from a retracted position to an extended position, spacing the paintable closure panel away from the vehicle body panel during assembly to allow the painting of the paintable closure panel and the clousre panel jamb. A reinforcement plate mounts to the vehicle body panel and has a pair of slots and a retaining pin hole. A body hinge plate has a pair of rivets that are slideably received by the slots of the reinforcement plate to permit slideable movement of the body hinge plate relative to the reinforcement plate. A gate side strap of the hinge is mounted to the paintable closure panel. A hinge pin hingedly connects the gate side strap to the body hinge plate enabling rotation of the paintable closure panel.

Abstract: A pair of separable hinge assemblies mount a seat cushion on a vehicle for positioning between a rearwardly folded regular seating mode and a forwardly folded stored mode. The hinge assemblies each comprise a body-half hinge plate mounted to the vehicle body and a seat-half hinge plate mounted to the seat cushion hardened undersurface. The body-half plate has upstanding side webs each formed with open end mirror image slots adapted to releasably capture a pintle pin extending transversely between parallel ear portions of the seat-half hinge plate. Each ear portion includes mirror image first and second cam shoulders adapted to frictionally retain the hinge assemblies in their respective seating or folded modes. Upon placement of the seat cusion in an intermediate position both sets of cam shoulders of each seat-half hinge plate are spaced from their associated body-half plate camming surfaces.

Abstract: A suction tube extends in parallel between the licker-in and the feed plate of the co-direction feed device while a supply duct extends from the fiber lap delivery point to the suction tube. The suction tube and duct serve to remove dirt by suction and extraction at the delivery point where the fiber lap is delivered to the licker-in. The supply duct extends tangentially into the suction tube in order to maintain the entrained dirt particles in a helical flow in the tube.

Abstract: A cylinder for a textile machine to be used as a licker-in, main cylinder or doffer has working clothing attached to the base structure. The clothing is attached in segments that have a regular geometric shape and a width less than the cylinder width. The segments are secured to the base structure so that the junctions, in the peripheral direction, are displaced from one another. Each segment is provided with a form locking edge to innerlock the segments in the cylindrical form.

Abstract: Two lap slivers lying one on top of the other are continuously fed to the combing tools in a plurality of combing heads of a combing machine. The first lap sliver comes from a first lap roll carried by a rear carrier device, and runs over a front carrier device. A second lap roll is carried on this, from which the second lap sliver emanates. A detector determines when the end of the lap sliver from the first lap roll is running out in one of the combing heads. A control unit then executes a lap roll change on several combing heads simultaneously as follows: The end of the first lap sliver is severed to the same length in all the combing heads. The cut-off pieces of the lap slivers and the winding tubes of the first lap rolls are removed. The second lap rolls are rolled on to the rear carrier devices. New lap rolls are so placed on the front carrier devices that the start of the lap sliver on these new rolls is aligned with the end of the first lap sliver.

Abstract: A coupling device forming a hinge pin for interconnecting connector eleme secured to conveyor belt ends, has a threaded end for facilitating the driving of the hinge pin into a channel formed by the connector elements when these connector elements intermesh. Abstract: A molding support assembly for mounting a molding strip upon a base structure such as an automobile body, wherein the assembly includes a pair of spaced fasteners mounted upon a support member in such a way so at least one fastener is longitudinally adjustable relative to the other to permit adjustment for misalignment between mounting holes in the base structure.

Abstract: A reinforcement clip is provided for the corner of a panel member to prevent damage to the panel member corner during shipment. The panel member includes at least two substantially flat relatively narrow elongated flange portions joined together at one end thereof to define a planar corner with a panel portion extending from the outer edge thereof. Both the panel portions and flange portions are firmly supported by the reinforcement clip.

Abstract: A seat belt buckle with a pair of buckle tongues. The buckle includes a spring mechanism slidably movable within the buckle housing from a position blocking engagement of a latch when a single tongue is inserted to a position away from the latch when both tongues are inserted allowing the latch to engage the tongues. In one embodiment, a latch indicator is slidably mounted to the buckle push button in the buckle cover and includes a lower end contacting the latch. The indicator is movable from a position flush with the buckle push button when the latch is not engaged with the tongues to an upraised position over the button when the latch moves up and engages the tongues. The tongues have mating portions, but are separable.

Abstract: A silk felt that comprises an intermediate layer of natural hair and covering layers of silk wadding or oblong. Furthermore, a method for making this silk felt in which an intermediate layer of natural hair is felted together with two covering layers of silk wadding. The textile material according to the invention is distinguished by a high heat and moisture regulation and by low weight.

Abstract: An elastic fiber roll for use in embossers and super calenders has a cylindrical body supported on its cylindrical axis for rotation. The cylindrical body is formed from a plurality of compacted disk elements of a nonwoven-randomly laid, entangled mixture of fibers. The mixture of fibers includes from about 20% to about 75% polyester fibers and from about 80% to about 25% of cellulose fibers. The fiber roll is prepared by a process which includes the steps of: (a) forming an integrated nonwoven web from a mixture of cellulose fibers and polyester fibers; (b) cutting annular segments from the nonwoven web; (c) stacking a plurality of segments onto a rotatable shaft; (d) compacting the plurality of segments on the shaft to form a fiber roll; and (e) dressing the sides of the compacted disks to form a smooth cylindrical surface.

Abstract: A tool for use in checking and filing the end gap of piston rings. The tool includes a cylindrical member having a shoulder adjacent one end thereof which will receive and seat a piston ring and position it at a predetermined depth below the deck of a bore in order to determine the end gap between the adjacent ends of a piston ring with the shoulder on the tool providing for accurate position of the piston ring at a given depth throughout the 360.degree. circle of the piston ring. The tool includes a groove or channel formed therein by which the end gap can be filed to increase the end gap to the desired dimension. The tool enables the ring to be positioned in the cylinder and the end gap measured and the tool then is used to hold the ring when filing the ends. The slot or groove in the tool provides a guide for the file when filing the end gap.

Abstract: A process for producing an assembled crankshaft, transmission shaft or camshaft, in the case of which expansion of the inserted sleeves takes place for the purpose of producing a force-locking connection between slid-on drive elements or bearing sleeves and tubular members, and where bored plugs are inserted, so as to be pressure-agent-proof, into the open ends of a sleeve with the cavity formed by the sleeve and the inserted plugs being pressurized by a pressure agent up to the point of permanent radial deformation of the sleeve.

Abstract: A tray attaches to both arms of a folding lawn chair. In the unfolded position the tray is horizontal and the back portion of the tray is toward the back panels of the chair. In the folded position the tray is vertical and the back portion of the tray is toward the front of the arm. In the folded position the tray latches the chair in the folded position and the tray must be removed to unfold the chair. The tray has button knobs on the bottom surface of the back portion which attach into keyhole slots in the top of the arms.

Abstract: A method of assembling the ratcheting tool driver. A plurality of inwardly facing ratchet teeth is integral with the walls of a cylindrical retainer cavity within the hollow cylindrical retainer. A washer is mounted around the generally conduit head and is sandwiched between an external head flange and an internal retainer flange. A snap ring is positioned in the head recess in order to provide friction for the washer in conjunction with maintaining the retainer around the open end.
