  • Patent number: 5159740
Abstract: A hinge includes a hinge arm mounted on a base plate by an intermediate member having a U-shaped cross-section. The hinge arm is retained on the intermediate member by depth and joint adjustment devices, e.g. clamping and adjusting screws. Retaining elements of the intermediate member engage corresponding retaining elements of the base plate at two points staggered over the length of the base plate. The retaining elements are rigid at one such point, and the other point one retaining element is resilient. The hinge arm and the intermediate member engages the base plate with the rigid retaining elements and snaps only the base plate due to the resilient retaining element, in the form of a leaf spring. A rear end the intermediate member is provided with a bridge which defines a gap into which is inserted the leaf spring. A flap is punched from the leaf spring and engages in a recess of the intermediate member arranged underneath the bridge, thus locking the leaf spring to the intermediate member.

  • Patent number: 5159749
Abstract: A wire transfer device for a harness making machine includes feed tracks (24) which carry a plurality of shuttle members (30). The shuttle members (30) are pushed down the tracks (24), and incrementally push the next shuttle member (30) further down. The shuttles (30) carry the wire for the harness further down the track (24) to further wire processing stations. When the wire shuttles (30) reach the elevator member 28, the shuttle member (30) is lowered to the level of the lower track (22), where it is pushed in the opposite direction via the air cylinder (34). The shuttle members (30) are thus continuously moving in a closed loop to move wires from a pick up position to a further processing station.

  • Patent number: 5159750
Abstract: A package for containing an integrated circuit component is provided which includes one or more layers with exposed edges surrounding a central opening. The integrated circuit component is positioned in the central opening. Bond wires connect the bond pads of the integrated circuit component to the continuous shelves of the various stepped-back stadium-like layers as well as to individual insulated leads. The layers are spaced apart by beads or columns of insulative material and the major portion of the layers are separated from each other by a gaseous dielectric, preferably air. The R-C constant is reduced and the speed of transmission is increased by the presence of the low dielectric material providing a device which can function rapidly. The stepped portions of the layers are exposed to allow for electrical interconnections within the layers, as well as from each layer to the integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 5159751
Abstract: An electronic module assembly (31) is provided by assembling components (17) to a planar polyimide flex circuit film (14) laminated to an aluminum rigidizer plate (11). The flex circuit film and rigidizer are then bent by a sheet metal bending process such that the rigidizer plate forms an exterior protective housing and the components are provided in an interior space (30). Connector pins (23) provide external electrical access to the components and circuit patterns (15, 16, 19) on the film (14). Structures (24, 25, 29) mate with the bent plate and substantially enclose the interior space. Module cost is reduced since the existing flex circuit rigidizer plate is used to form part of the module housing, and economical planar component assembly techniques are utilized while eliminating the step of mounting the flex circuit rigidizer plate to an external module housing. Two techniques for using a mandrel shaft (26, 35) to bend the plate (11) without stressing the film (14) are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5159754
Abstract: An assembly machine and method for assembling an integral bearing unit onto a motor vehicle wheel hub. The assembly process involves applying an axial force onto the elements causing the elements to be pressed together. In order to avoid localized brinelling of the surfaces of the bearing including the faces and rolling elements, the hub is rotated during the pressing operation to cause the forces to be spread over areas of the rolling elements and bearing races. The machine and method further incorporate a sensor to detect improper position or installation of the bearing on the assembly tooling and a load cell to monitor pressing loads enabling detection of improper part fit or other defects.

  • Patent number: 5159770
Abstract: A parting surface structure of a bulletin device for indication or decoration in station yards, underground passages, buildings, exhibitions, etc. has an adjustable construction. A fitting slot is formed in the inner peripheral edge of a parting surface body which constitutes the front face of a device frame, and a second parting surface portion having a desired parting surface width is fitted in the said fitting slot. According to this construction, part of the parting portion can be replaced with a parting surface portion having a desired parting surface width according to a bulletin to be used in a manufacturing factory or at a site where the bulletin device is mounted. Thus, it is possible to make adjustment freely to a parting surface width suitable for a bulletin to be used.

  • Patent number: 5159771
Abstract: When examining X-ray film in an examination cabinet, the films are advanced consecutively in a horizontal direction from a magazine attached or capable of being attached to one side of the cabinet. The films are placed against each other in the magazine and are removed therefrom at least partly by a feed roller. Oppositely angled parts located on an endless transporting device engage the lower edges of respective films. After being examined, the films are delivered to a further magazine located on the other side of the cabinet. Located at one end of the cabinet is a ramp, on which is mounted a plurality of diodes which enable the various operations carried out in conjunction with the examination of X-ray film to be automated. The cabinet, magazine and transporting device can be constructed in the form of a module system. One of two modules can be placed above the other, and the modules can be adjusted angularly in relation to each other. The invention also relates to the examination cabinet itself.
